Al-Qur'an Surah At-Tawbah Verse 26
At-Tawbah [9]: 26 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ثُمَّ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ سَكِيْنَتَهٗ عَلٰى رَسُوْلِهٖ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَاَنْزَلَ جُنُوْدًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعَذَّبَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْاۗ وَذٰلِكَ جَزَاۤءُ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ (التوبة : ٩)

- تَرَوْهَا
- which you did not see
- waʿadhaba
- وَعَذَّبَ
- and He punished
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟ۚ
- disbelieved
- wadhālika
- وَذَٰلِكَ
- And that
- jazāu
- جَزَآءُ
- (is) the recompense
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- (of) the disbelievers
Transliteration:
Summa anzalal laahu sakeenatahoo 'alaa Rasoolihee wa 'alalmu 'mineena wa anzala junoodal lam tarawhaa wa azzabal lazeena kafaroo; wa zaalika jazaaa'ul kaafireen(QS. at-Tawbah:26)
English / Sahih Translation:
Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the believers and sent down soldiers [i.e., angels] whom you did not see and punished those who disbelieved. And that is the recompense of the disbelievers. (QS. At-Tawbah, ayah 26)

Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and sent down troops that you did not see, and punished those who disbelieved. That is the recompense of the disbelievers.

Then God descended His tranquillity/calm on His messenger and on the believers, and He descended soldiers/warriors you did not see it, and He tortured those who disbelieved, and that (is) the disbeliever`s reward/reimbursement .

God caused His tranquillity to descend upon His Messenger and the faithful: and sent down forces which you did not see: He punished those who denied the truth, for such is the recompense of all who deny the truth,

Then God sent down His serenity upon His Messenger, and upon the believers; and He sent down troops you did not see; and He punished those who disbelieved. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
Tafsir jalalayn
Then God sent down His Spirit of Peace, His reassurance, upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and so they turned back towards the Prophet (s), after al-`Abbs called them, with his [the Prophet's] permission, and they fought [once again]; and He sent down legions, of angels, you did not see, and chastised the disbelievers, with slaughter and capture, and that is the requital of the disbelievers.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
ثُمَّ أَنَزلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ
Then Allah did send down His Sakinah on His Messenger,
He sent down tranquility and reassurance to His Messenger,
وَعَلَى الْمُوْمِنِينَ
and on the believers,
who remained with him,
وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا
and sent down forces which you saw not, (this refers to angels).
وَعذَّبَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَذَلِكَ جَزَاء الْكَافِرِينَ
and punished the disbelievers. Such is the recompense of disbelievers.
Imam Abu Jafar bin Jarir (At-Tabari) said that Al-Qasim narrated to them, that Al-Hasan bin Arafah said that Al-Mu`tamir bin Sulayman said from `Awf bin Abi Jamilah Al-Arabi who said that he heard Abdur-Rahman, the freed slave of Ibn Barthan saying,
"A man who participated in Hunayn with the idolators narrated to me, `When we met the Messenger of Allah and his Companions on the day of Hunayn, they did not remain in battle more than the time it takes to milk a sheep! When we defeated them, we pursued them until we ended at the rider of the white mule, the Messenger of Allah. At that time, men with white handsome faces intercepted us and said;`Disgraced be the faces! Go back. So we ran away, but they followed us. That was the end for us."'
Allah said,
ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللّهُ مِن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَن يَشَاء وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
