وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الصّٰلِحُوْنَ وَمِنَّا دُوْنَ ذٰلِكَۗ كُنَّا طَرَاۤىِٕقَ قِدَدًاۙ ١١
- wa-annā
- وَأَنَّا
- And that
- minnā
- مِنَّا
- among us
- l-ṣāliḥūna
- ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ
- (are) the righteous
- waminnā
- وَمِنَّا
- and among us
- dūna
- دُونَ
- (are) other than
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَۖ
- that
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- We
- ṭarāiqa
- طَرَآئِقَ
- (are on) ways
- qidadan
- قِدَدًا
- different
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 11)Tafsir
وَّاَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ اَنْ لَّنْ نُّعْجِزَ اللّٰهَ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَنْ نُّعْجِزَهٗ هَرَبًاۖ ١٢
- wa-annā
- وَأَنَّا
- And that we
- ẓanannā
- ظَنَنَّآ
- [we] have become certain
- an
- أَن
- that
- lan
- لَّن
- never
- nuʿ'jiza
- نُّعْجِزَ
- we will cause failure
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- (to) Allah
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- walan
- وَلَن
- and never
- nuʿ'jizahu
- نُّعْجِزَهُۥ
- we can escape Him
- haraban
- هَرَبًا
- (by) flight
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 12)Tafsir
وَّاَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا الْهُدٰىٓ اٰمَنَّا بِهٖۗ فَمَنْ يُّؤْمِنْۢ بِرَبِّهٖ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَّلَا رَهَقًاۖ ١٣
- wa-annā
- وَأَنَّا
- And that
- lammā
- لَمَّا
- when
- samiʿ'nā
- سَمِعْنَا
- we heard
- l-hudā
- ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
- the Guidance
- āmannā
- ءَامَنَّا
- we believed
- bihi
- بِهِۦۖ
- in it
- faman
- فَمَن
- And whoever
- yu'min
- يُؤْمِنۢ
- believes
- birabbihi
- بِرَبِّهِۦ
- in his Lord
- falā
- فَلَا
- then not
- yakhāfu
- يَخَافُ
- he will fear
- bakhsan
- بَخْسًا
- any loss
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- rahaqan
- رَهَقًا
- any burden
And when we heard the guidance [i.e., the Quran], we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 13)Tafsir
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ وَمِنَّا الْقَاسِطُوْنَۗ فَمَنْ اَسْلَمَ فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ تَحَرَّوْا رَشَدًا ١٤
- wa-annā
- وَأَنَّا
- And that we
- minnā
- مِنَّا
- among us
- l-mus'limūna
- ٱلْمُسْلِمُونَ
- (are) Muslims
- waminnā
- وَمِنَّا
- and among us
- l-qāsiṭūna
- ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَۖ
- (are) unjust
- faman
- فَمَنْ
- And whoever
- aslama
- أَسْلَمَ
- submits
- fa-ulāika
- فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- then those
- taḥarraw
- تَحَرَّوْا۟
- have sought
- rashadan
- رَشَدًا
- (the) right path
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim – those have sought out the right course. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 14)Tafsir
وَاَمَّا الْقَاسِطُوْنَ فَكَانُوْا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًاۙ ١٥
- wa-ammā
- وَأَمَّا
- And as for
- l-qāsiṭūna
- ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَ
- the unjust
- fakānū
- فَكَانُوا۟
- they will be
- lijahannama
- لِجَهَنَّمَ
- for Hell
- ḥaṭaban
- حَطَبًا
- firewood"
But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 15)Tafsir
وَّاَنْ لَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوْا عَلَى الطَّرِيْقَةِ لَاَسْقَيْنٰهُمْ مَّاۤءً غَدَقًاۙ ١٦
- wa-allawi
- وَأَلَّوِ
- And if
- is'taqāmū
- ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟
- they had remained
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- on
- l-ṭarīqati
- ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ
- the Way
- la-asqaynāhum
- لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم
- surely We (would) have given them to drink
- māan
- مَّآءً
- water
- ghadaqan
- غَدَقًا
- (in) abundance
And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant rain [i.e., provision]. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 16)Tafsir
لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيْهِۗ وَمَنْ يُّعْرِضْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّهٖ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًاۙ ١٧
- linaftinahum
- لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ
- That We might test them
- fīhi
- فِيهِۚ
- therein
- waman
- وَمَن
- And whoever
- yuʿ'riḍ
- يُعْرِضْ
- turns away
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- dhik'ri
- ذِكْرِ
- the Remembrance
- rabbihi
- رَبِّهِۦ
- (of) his Lord
- yasluk'hu
- يَسْلُكْهُ
- He will make him enter
- ʿadhāban
- عَذَابًا
- a punishment
- ṣaʿadan
- صَعَدًا
- severe
So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 17)Tafsir
وَّاَنَّ الْمَسٰجِدَ لِلّٰهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوْا مَعَ اللّٰهِ اَحَدًاۖ ١٨
- wa-anna
- وَأَنَّ
- And that
- l-masājida
- ٱلْمَسَٰجِدَ
- the masajid
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- (are) for Allah
- falā
- فَلَا
- so (do) not
- tadʿū
- تَدْعُوا۟
- call
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- aḥadan
- أَحَدًا
- anyone
And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 18)Tafsir
وَّاَنَّهٗ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللّٰهِ يَدْعُوْهُ كَادُوْا يَكُوْنُوْنَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًاۗ ࣖ ١٩
- wa-annahu
- وَأَنَّهُۥ
- And that
- lammā
- لَمَّا
- when
- qāma
- قَامَ
- stood up
- ʿabdu
- عَبْدُ
- (the) slave
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- yadʿūhu
- يَدْعُوهُ
- calling (upon) Him
- kādū
- كَادُوا۟
- they almost
- yakūnūna
- يَكُونُونَ
- became
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- around him
- libadan
- لِبَدًا
- a compacted mass
And that when the Servant [i.e., Prophet] of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 19)Tafsir
قُلْ اِنَّمَآ اَدْعُوْا رَبِّيْ وَلَآ اُشْرِكُ بِهٖٓ اَحَدًا ٢٠
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- innamā
- إِنَّمَآ
- "Only
- adʿū
- أَدْعُوا۟
- I call upon
- rabbī
- رَبِّى
- my Lord
- walā
- وَلَآ
- and not
- ush'riku
- أُشْرِكُ
- I associate
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- with Him
- aḥadan
- أَحَدًا
- anyone"
Say, [O Muhammad], "I only invoke my Lord and do not associate with Him anyone." (QS. [72] Al-Jinn: 20)Tafsir
