اَمْ اٰتَيْنٰهُمْ كِتٰبًا مِّنْ قَبْلِهٖ فَهُمْ بِهٖ مُسْتَمْسِكُوْنَ ٢١
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- ātaynāhum
- ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ
- have We given them
- kitāban
- كِتَٰبًا
- a book
- min
- مِّن
- before it
- qablihi
- قَبْلِهِۦ
- before it
- fahum
- فَهُم
- so they
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- to it
- mus'tamsikūna
- مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
- (are) holding fast?
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Quran] to which they are adhering? (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 21)Tafsir
بَلْ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ اٰبَاۤءَنَا عَلٰٓى اُمَّةٍ وَّاِنَّا عَلٰٓى اٰثٰرِهِمْ مُّهْتَدُوْنَ ٢٢
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they say
- innā
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed we
- wajadnā
- وَجَدْنَآ
- [we] found
- ābāanā
- ءَابَآءَنَا
- our forefathers
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- upon
- ummatin
- أُمَّةٍ
- a religion
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed we
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- on
- āthārihim
- ءَاثَٰرِهِم
- their footsteps
- muh'tadūna
- مُّهْتَدُونَ
- (are) guided"
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided." (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 22)Tafsir
وَكَذٰلِكَ مَآ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِيْ قَرْيَةٍ مِّنْ نَّذِيْرٍۙ اِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوْهَآ ۙاِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ اٰبَاۤءَنَا عَلٰٓى اُمَّةٍ وَّاِنَّا عَلٰٓى اٰثٰرِهِمْ مُّقْتَدُوْنَ ٢٣
- wakadhālika
- وَكَذَٰلِكَ
- And thus
- mā
- مَآ
- not
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- min
- مِن
- before you
- qablika
- قَبْلِكَ
- before you
- fī
- فِى
- in
- qaryatin
- قَرْيَةٍ
- a town
- min
- مِّن
- any
- nadhīrin
- نَّذِيرٍ
- warner
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- mut'rafūhā
- مُتْرَفُوهَآ
- (the) wealthy ones of it
- innā
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed, we
- wajadnā
- وَجَدْنَآ
- [we] found
- ābāanā
- ءَابَآءَنَا
- our forefathers
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- on
- ummatin
- أُمَّةٍ
- a religion
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed, we
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- [on]
- āthārihim
- ءَاثَٰرِهِم
- their footsteps
- muq'tadūna
- مُّقْتَدُونَ
- (are) following"
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following." (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 23)Tafsir
۞ قٰلَ اَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِاَهْدٰى مِمَّا وَجَدْتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ اٰبَاۤءَكُمْۗ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا بِمَآ اُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهٖ كٰفِرُوْنَ ٢٤
- qāla
- قَٰلَ
- He said
- awalaw
- أَوَلَوْ
- "Even if
- ji'tukum
- جِئْتُكُم
- I brought you
- bi-ahdā
- بِأَهْدَىٰ
- better guidance
- mimmā
- مِمَّا
- than what
- wajadttum
- وَجَدتُّمْ
- you found
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- on it
- ābāakum
- ءَابَآءَكُمْۖ
- your forefathers?"
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- They said
- innā
- إِنَّا
- "Indeed we
- bimā
- بِمَآ
- with what
- ur'sil'tum
- أُرْسِلْتُم
- you are sent
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- with [it]
- kāfirūna
- كَٰفِرُونَ
- (are) disbelievers"
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers." (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 24)Tafsir
فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ ࣖ ٢٥
- fa-intaqamnā
- فَٱنتَقَمْنَا
- So We took retribution
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْۖ
- from them
- fa-unẓur
- فَٱنظُرْ
- Then see
- kayfa
- كَيْفَ
- how
- kāna
- كَانَ
- was
- ʿāqibatu
- عَٰقِبَةُ
- (the) end
- l-mukadhibīna
- ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
- (of) the deniers
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers. (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 25)Tafsir
وَاِذْ قَالَ اِبْرٰهِيْمُ لِاَبِيْهِ وَقَوْمِهٖٓ اِنَّنِيْ بَرَاۤءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْبُدُوْنَۙ ٢٦
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- qāla
- قَالَ
- Ibrahim said
- ib'rāhīmu
- إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
- Ibrahim said
- li-abīhi
- لِأَبِيهِ
- to his father
- waqawmihi
- وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ
- and his people
- innanī
- إِنَّنِى
- "Indeed, I (am)
- barāon
- بَرَآءٌ
- disassociated
- mimmā
- مِّمَّا
- from what
- taʿbudūna
- تَعْبُدُونَ
- you worship
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 26)Tafsir
اِلَّا الَّذِيْ فَطَرَنِيْ فَاِنَّهٗ سَيَهْدِيْنِ ٢٧
- illā
- إِلَّا
- Except
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One Who
- faṭaranī
- فَطَرَنِى
- created me;
- fa-innahu
- فَإِنَّهُۥ
- and indeed He
- sayahdīni
- سَيَهْدِينِ
- will guide me"
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me." (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 27)Tafsir
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً ۢ بَاقِيَةً فِيْ عَقِبِهٖ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُوْنَۗ ٢٨
- wajaʿalahā
- وَجَعَلَهَا
- And he made it
- kalimatan
- كَلِمَةًۢ
- a word
- bāqiyatan
- بَاقِيَةً
- lasting
- fī
- فِى
- among
- ʿaqibihi
- عَقِبِهِۦ
- his descendents
- laʿallahum
- لَعَلَّهُمْ
- so that they may
- yarjiʿūna
- يَرْجِعُونَ
- return
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]. (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 28)Tafsir
بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ وَاٰبَاۤءَهُمْ حَتّٰى جَاۤءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ وَرَسُوْلٌ مُّبِيْنٌ ٢٩
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- mattaʿtu
- مَتَّعْتُ
- I gave enjoyment
- hāulāi
- هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
- (to) these
- waābāahum
- وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
- and their forefathers
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- jāahumu
- جَآءَهُمُ
- came to them
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- the truth
- warasūlun
- وَرَسُولٌ
- and a Messenger
- mubīnun
- مُّبِينٌ
- clear
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger. (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 29)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ قَالُوْا هٰذَا سِحْرٌ وَّاِنَّا بِهٖ كٰفِرُوْنَ ٣٠
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- jāahumu
- جَآءَهُمُ
- came to them
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- the truth
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- "This
- siḥ'run
- سِحْرٌ
- (is) magic
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed we
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- of it
- kāfirūna
- كَٰفِرُونَ
- (are) disbelievers"
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers." (QS. [43] Az-Zukhruf: 30)Tafsir
