فَرِحَ الْمُخَلَّفُوْنَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلٰفَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ وَكَرِهُوْٓا اَنْ يُّجَاهِدُوْا بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَالُوْا لَا تَنْفِرُوْا فِى الْحَرِّۗ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ اَشَدُّ حَرًّاۗ لَوْ كَانُوْا يَفْقَهُوْنَ ٨١
- fariḥa
- فَرِحَ
- Rejoice
- l-mukhalafūna
- ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ
- those who remained behind
- bimaqʿadihim
- بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ
- in their staying
- khilāfa
- خِلَٰفَ
- behind
- rasūli
- رَسُولِ
- (the) Messenger
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- wakarihū
- وَكَرِهُوٓا۟
- and they disliked
- an
- أَن
- to
- yujāhidū
- يُجَٰهِدُوا۟
- strive
- bi-amwālihim
- بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
- with their wealth
- wa-anfusihim
- وَأَنفُسِهِمْ
- and their lives
- fī
- فِى
- in
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- and they said
- lā
- لَا
- "(Do) not
- tanfirū
- تَنفِرُوا۟
- go forth
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ḥari
- ٱلْحَرِّۗ
- the heat"
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- nāru
- نَارُ
- "(The) Fire
- jahannama
- جَهَنَّمَ
- (of) Hell
- ashaddu
- أَشَدُّ
- (is) more intense
- ḥarran
- حَرًّاۚ
- (in) heat"
- law
- لَّوْ
- If (only)
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they could
- yafqahūna
- يَفْقَهُونَ
- understand
Those who remained behind rejoiced in their staying [at home] after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah and disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah and said, "Do not go forth in the heat." Say, "The fire of Hell is more intense in heat" – if they would but understand. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 81)Tafsir
فَلْيَضْحَكُوْا قَلِيْلًا وَّلْيَبْكُوْا كَثِيْرًاۚ جَزَاۤءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْسِبُوْنَ ٨٢
- falyaḍḥakū
- فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟
- So let them laugh
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a little
- walyabkū
- وَلْيَبْكُوا۟
- and let them weep
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- much
- jazāan
- جَزَآءًۢ
- (as) a recompense
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaksibūna
- يَكْسِبُونَ
- earn
So let them laugh a little and [then] weep much as recompense for what they used to earn. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 82)Tafsir
فَاِنْ رَّجَعَكَ اللّٰهُ اِلٰى طَاۤىِٕفَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسْتَأْذَنُوْكَ لِلْخُرُوْجِ فَقُلْ لَّنْ تَخْرُجُوْا مَعِيَ اَبَدًا وَّلَنْ تُقَاتِلُوْا مَعِيَ عَدُوًّاۗ اِنَّكُمْ رَضِيْتُمْ بِالْقُعُوْدِ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۗ فَاقْعُدُوْا مَعَ الْخَالِفِيْنَ ٨٣
- fa-in
- فَإِن
- Then if
- rajaʿaka
- رَّجَعَكَ
- Allah returns you
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah returns you
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- ṭāifatin
- طَآئِفَةٍ
- a group
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْ
- of them
- fa-is'tadhanūka
- فَٱسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَ
- and they ask you permission
- lil'khurūji
- لِلْخُرُوجِ
- to go out
- faqul
- فَقُل
- then say
- lan
- لَّن
- "Never
- takhrujū
- تَخْرُجُوا۟
- will you come out
- maʿiya
- مَعِىَ
- with me
- abadan
- أَبَدًا
- ever
- walan
- وَلَن
- and never
- tuqātilū
- تُقَٰتِلُوا۟
- will you fight
- maʿiya
- مَعِىَ
- with me
- ʿaduwwan
- عَدُوًّاۖ
- any enemy
- innakum
- إِنَّكُمْ
- Indeed, you
- raḍītum
- رَضِيتُم
- were satisfied
- bil-quʿūdi
- بِٱلْقُعُودِ
- with sitting
- awwala
- أَوَّلَ
- (the) first
- marratin
- مَرَّةٍ
- time
- fa-uq'ʿudū
- فَٱقْعُدُوا۟
- so sit
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-khālifīna
- ٱلْخَٰلِفِينَ
- those who stay behind"
If Allah should return you to a faction of them [after the expedition] and then they ask your permission to go out [to battle], say, "You will not go out with me, ever, and you will never fight with me an enemy. Indeed, you were satisfied with sitting [at home] the first time, so sit [now] with those who stay behind." (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 83)Tafsir
وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلٰٓى اَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ مَّاتَ اَبَدًا وَّلَا تَقُمْ عَلٰى قَبْرِهٖۗ اِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ وَمَاتُوْا وَهُمْ فٰسِقُوْنَ ٨٤
- walā
- وَلَا
- And not
- tuṣalli
- تُصَلِّ
- you pray
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- for
- aḥadin
- أَحَدٍ
- any
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُم
- of them
- māta
- مَّاتَ
- who dies
- abadan
- أَبَدًا
- ever
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- taqum
- تَقُمْ
- you stand
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- by
- qabrihi
- قَبْرِهِۦٓۖ
- his grave
- innahum
- إِنَّهُمْ
- Indeed they
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieved
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- warasūlihi
- وَرَسُولِهِۦ
- and His Messenger
- wamātū
- وَمَاتُوا۟
- and died
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they were
- fāsiqūna
- فَٰسِقُونَ
- defiantly disobedient
And do not pray [the funeral prayer, O Muhammad], over any of them who has died – ever – or stand at his grave. Indeed, they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died while they were defiantly disobedient. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 84)Tafsir
وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ اَمْوَالُهُمْ وَاَوْلَادُهُمْۗ اِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يُّعَذِّبَهُمْ بِهَا فِى الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ اَنْفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كٰفِرُوْنَ ٨٥
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (let) not
- tuʿ'jib'ka
- تُعْجِبْكَ
- impress you
- amwāluhum
- أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ
- their wealth
- wa-awlāduhum
- وَأَوْلَٰدُهُمْۚ
- and their children
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- yurīdu
- يُرِيدُ
- Allah intends
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah intends
- an
- أَن
- to
- yuʿadhibahum
- يُعَذِّبَهُم
- punish them
- bihā
- بِهَا
- with it
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- the world
- watazhaqa
- وَتَزْهَقَ
- and will depart
- anfusuhum
- أَنفُسُهُمْ
- their souls
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- kāfirūna
- كَٰفِرُونَ
- (are) disbelievers
And let not their wealth and their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in this world and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 85)Tafsir
وَاِذَآ اُنْزِلَتْ سُوْرَةٌ اَنْ اٰمِنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَجَاهِدُوْا مَعَ رَسُوْلِهِ اسْتَأْذَنَكَ اُولُوا الطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُوْا ذَرْنَا نَكُنْ مَّعَ الْقٰعِدِيْنَ ٨٦
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَآ
- And when
- unzilat
- أُنزِلَتْ
- was revealed
- sūratun
- سُورَةٌ
- a Surah
- an
- أَنْ
- that;
- āminū
- ءَامِنُوا۟
- believe
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wajāhidū
- وَجَٰهِدُوا۟
- and strive
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- rasūlihi
- رَسُولِهِ
- His Messenger
- is'tadhanaka
- ٱسْتَـْٔذَنَكَ
- ask your permission
- ulū
- أُو۟لُوا۟
- (the) men
- l-ṭawli
- ٱلطَّوْلِ
- (of) wealth
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- among them
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- and said
- dharnā
- ذَرْنَا
- "Leave us
- nakun
- نَكُن
- (to) be
- maʿa
- مَّعَ
- with
- l-qāʿidīna
- ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ
- those who sit"
And when a Surah was revealed [enjoining them] to believe in Allah and to fight with His Messenger, those of wealth among them asked your permission [to stay back] and said, "Leave us to be with them who sit [at home]." (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 86)Tafsir
رَضُوْا بِاَنْ يَّكُوْنُوْا مَعَ الْخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُوْنَ ٨٧
- raḍū
- رَضُوا۟
- They (were) satisfied
- bi-an
- بِأَن
- to
- yakūnū
- يَكُونُوا۟
- be
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-khawālifi
- ٱلْخَوَالِفِ
- those who stay behind
- waṭubiʿa
- وَطُبِعَ
- and were sealed
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- [on]
- qulūbihim
- قُلُوبِهِمْ
- their hearts
- fahum
- فَهُمْ
- so they
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yafqahūna
- يَفْقَهُونَ
- understand
They were satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and their hearts were sealed over, so they do not understand. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 87)Tafsir
لٰكِنِ الرَّسُوْلُ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مَعَهٗ جَاهَدُوْا بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْۗ وَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمُ الْخَيْرٰتُ ۖوَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ٨٨
- lākini
- لَٰكِنِ
- But
- l-rasūlu
- ٱلرَّسُولُ
- the Messenger
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believed
- maʿahu
- مَعَهُۥ
- with him
- jāhadū
- جَٰهَدُوا۟
- strove
- bi-amwālihim
- بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
- with their wealth
- wa-anfusihim
- وَأَنفُسِهِمْۚ
- and their lives
- wa-ulāika
- وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- And those
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- for them
- l-khayrātu
- ٱلْخَيْرَٰتُۖ
- (are) the good things
- wa-ulāika
- وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- and those -
- humu
- هُمُ
- they
- l-muf'liḥūna
- ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
- (are) the successful ones
But the Messenger and those who believed with him fought with their wealth and their lives. Those will have [all that is] good and it is those who are the successful. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 88)Tafsir
اَعَدَّ اللّٰهُ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۗ ذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيْمُ ࣖ ٨٩
- aʿadda
- أَعَدَّ
- Allah has prepared
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah has prepared
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- jannātin
- جَنَّٰتٍ
- Gardens
- tajrī
- تَجْرِى
- flows
- min
- مِن
- from
- taḥtihā
- تَحْتِهَا
- underneath it
- l-anhāru
- ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
- the rivers
- khālidīna
- خَٰلِدِينَ
- (will) abide forever
- fīhā
- فِيهَاۚ
- in it
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- l-fawzu
- ٱلْفَوْزُ
- (is) the success
- l-ʿaẓīmu
- ٱلْعَظِيمُ
- the great
Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally. That is the great attainment. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 89)Tafsir
وَجَاۤءَ الْمُعَذِّرُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَبُوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ ۗسَيُصِيْبُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ ٩٠
- wajāa
- وَجَآءَ
- And came
- l-muʿadhirūna
- ٱلْمُعَذِّرُونَ
- the ones who make excuses
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-aʿrābi
- ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
- the bedouins
- liyu'dhana
- لِيُؤْذَنَ
- that permission be granted
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- to them
- waqaʿada
- وَقَعَدَ
- and sat
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kadhabū
- كَذَبُوا۟
- lied
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- (to) Allah
- warasūlahu
- وَرَسُولَهُۥۚ
- and His Messenger
- sayuṣību
- سَيُصِيبُ
- Will strike
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieved
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- among them
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- a punishment
- alīmun
- أَلِيمٌ
- painful
And those with excuses among the bedouins came to be permitted [to remain], and they who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat [at home]. There will strike those who disbelieved among them a painful punishment. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 90)Tafsir
