Al-Qur'an Surah At-Tawbah Verse 85
At-Tawbah [9]: 85 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ اَمْوَالُهُمْ وَاَوْلَادُهُمْۗ اِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يُّعَذِّبَهُمْ بِهَا فِى الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ اَنْفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كٰفِرُوْنَ (التوبة : ٩)
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (let) not
- tuʿ'jib'ka
- تُعْجِبْكَ
- impress you
- amwāluhum
- أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ
- their wealth
- wa-awlāduhum
- وَأَوْلَٰدُهُمْۚ
- and their children
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- yurīdu
- يُرِيدُ
- Allah intends
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah intends

- أَن
- to
- yuʿadhibahum
- يُعَذِّبَهُم
- punish them
- bihā
- بِهَا
- with it
- fī

- anfusuhum
- أَنفُسُهُمْ

- كَٰفِرُونَ
- (are) disbelievers
Transliteration:
Wa laa tu'jibka amwaa luhum wa awlaaduhum; innamaa yureedul laahu ai yu'az zibahum bihaa fid dunyaa wa tazhaqa anfusuhum wa hum kaafiroon(QS. at-Tawbah:85)
English / Sahih Translation:
And let not their wealth and their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in this world and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers. (QS. At-Tawbah, ayah 85)

Their wealth and children should not attract you. Allah only wills to punish them with these in this world and that their souls depart while they are disbelievers.

Allah says;
وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَأَوْلَادُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللّهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ
And let not their wealth or their children amaze you. Allah only wants to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers.
