اِنْفِرُوْا خِفَافًا وَّثِقَالًا وَّجَاهِدُوْا بِاَمْوَالِكُمْ وَاَنْفُسِكُمْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٤١
- infirū
- ٱنفِرُوا۟
- Go forth
- khifāfan
- خِفَافًا
- light
- wathiqālan
- وَثِقَالًا
- or heavy
- wajāhidū
- وَجَٰهِدُوا۟
- and strive
- bi-amwālikum
- بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ
- with your wealth
- wa-anfusikum
- وَأَنفُسِكُمْ
- and your lives
- fī
- فِى
- in
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- dhālikum
- ذَٰلِكُمْ
- That
- khayrun
- خَيْرٌ
- (is) better
- lakum
- لَّكُمْ
- for you
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- know
Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah. That is better for you, if you only knew. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 41)Tafsir
لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيْبًا وَّسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّاتَّبَعُوْكَ وَلٰكِنْۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُۗ وَسَيَحْلِفُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْۚ يُهْلِكُوْنَ اَنْفُسَهُمْۚ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ اِنَّهُمْ لَكٰذِبُوْنَ ࣖ ٤٢
- law
- لَوْ
- If
- kāna
- كَانَ
- it had been
- ʿaraḍan
- عَرَضًا
- a gain
- qarīban
- قَرِيبًا
- near
- wasafaran
- وَسَفَرًا
- and a journey
- qāṣidan
- قَاصِدًا
- easy
- la-ittabaʿūka
- لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ
- surely they (would) have followed you
- walākin
- وَلَٰكِنۢ
- but
- baʿudat
- بَعُدَتْ
- was long
- ʿalayhimu
- عَلَيْهِمُ
- for them
- l-shuqatu
- ٱلشُّقَّةُۚ
- the distance
- wasayaḥlifūna
- وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ
- And they will swear
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- by Allah
- lawi
- لَوِ
- "If
- is'taṭaʿnā
- ٱسْتَطَعْنَا
- we were able
- lakharajnā
- لَخَرَجْنَا
- certainly we (would) have come forth
- maʿakum
- مَعَكُمْ
- with you"
- yuh'likūna
- يُهْلِكُونَ
- They destroy
- anfusahum
- أَنفُسَهُمْ
- their own selves
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- and Allah
- yaʿlamu
- يَعْلَمُ
- knows
- innahum
- إِنَّهُمْ
- (that) indeed they
- lakādhibūna
- لَكَٰذِبُونَ
- (are) surely liars
Had it been a near [i.e., easy] gain and a moderate trip, they [i.e., the hypocrites] would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allah, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allah knows that indeed they are liars. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 42)Tafsir
عَفَا اللّٰهُ عَنْكَۚ لِمَ اَذِنْتَ لَهُمْ حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذِيْنَ صَدَقُوْا وَتَعْلَمَ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ ٤٣
- ʿafā
- عَفَا
- (May) Allah forgive
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (May) Allah forgive
- ʿanka
- عَنكَ
- you!
- lima
- لِمَ
- Why (did)
- adhinta
- أَذِنتَ
- you grant leave
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- to them
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- yatabayyana
- يَتَبَيَّنَ
- (became) evident
- laka
- لَكَ
- to you
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- ṣadaqū
- صَدَقُوا۟
- were truthful
- wataʿlama
- وَتَعْلَمَ
- and you knew
- l-kādhibīna
- ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ
- the liars?
Allah has pardoned you, [O Muhammad, but] why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 43)Tafsir
لَا يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ اَنْ يُّجَاهِدُوْا بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِالْمُتَّقِيْنَ ٤٤
- lā
- لَا
- (Would) not ask your permission
- yastadhinuka
- يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ
- (Would) not ask your permission
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- believe
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wal-yawmi
- وَٱلْيَوْمِ
- and the Day
- l-ākhiri
- ٱلْءَاخِرِ
- the Last
- an
- أَن
- that
- yujāhidū
- يُجَٰهِدُوا۟
- they strive
- bi-amwālihim
- بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
- with their wealth
- wa-anfusihim
- وَأَنفُسِهِمْۗ
- and their lives
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌۢ
- (is) All-Knower
- bil-mutaqīna
- بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
- of the righteous
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving [i.e., fighting] with their wealth and their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 44)Tafsir
اِنَّمَا يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَارْتَابَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيْ رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُوْنَ ٤٥
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- yastadhinuka
- يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ
- ask your leave
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- believe
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wal-yawmi
- وَٱلْيَوْمِ
- and the Day
- l-ākhiri
- ٱلْءَاخِرِ
- the Last
- wa-ir'tābat
- وَٱرْتَابَتْ
- and (are in) doubts
- qulūbuhum
- قُلُوبُهُمْ
- their hearts
- fahum
- فَهُمْ
- so they
- fī
- فِى
- in
- raybihim
- رَيْبِهِمْ
- their doubts
- yataraddadūna
- يَتَرَدَّدُونَ
- they waver
Only those would ask permission of you who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts have doubted, and they, in their doubt, are hesitating. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 45)Tafsir
۞ وَلَوْ اَرَادُوا الْخُرُوْجَ لَاَعَدُّوْا لَهٗ عُدَّةً وَّلٰكِنْ كَرِهَ اللّٰهُ انْۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيْلَ اقْعُدُوْا مَعَ الْقٰعِدِيْنَ ٤٦
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- arādū
- أَرَادُوا۟
- they had wished
- l-khurūja
- ٱلْخُرُوجَ
- (to) go forth
- la-aʿaddū
- لَأَعَدُّوا۟
- surely they (would) have prepared
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for it
- ʿuddatan
- عُدَّةً
- (some) preparation
- walākin
- وَلَٰكِن
- But
- kariha
- كَرِهَ
- Allah disliked
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah disliked
- inbiʿāthahum
- ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ
- their being sent
- fathabbaṭahum
- فَثَبَّطَهُمْ
- so He made them lag behind
- waqīla
- وَقِيلَ
- and it was said
- uq'ʿudū
- ٱقْعُدُوا۟
- "Sit
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-qāʿidīna
- ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ
- those who sit"
And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it [some] preparation. But Allah disliked their being sent, so He kept them back, and they were told, "Remain [behind] with those who remain." (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 46)Tafsir
لَوْ خَرَجُوْا فِيْكُمْ مَّا زَادُوْكُمْ اِلَّا خَبَالًا وَّلَاَوْضَعُوْا خِلٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُوْنَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَۚ وَفِيْكُمْ سَمّٰعُوْنَ لَهُمْۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِالظّٰلِمِيْنَ ٤٧
- law
- لَوْ
- If
- kharajū
- خَرَجُوا۟
- they (had) gone forth
- fīkum
- فِيكُم
- with you
- mā
- مَّا
- not
- zādūkum
- زَادُوكُمْ
- they (would) have increased you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- khabālan
- خَبَالًا
- (in) confusion
- wala-awḍaʿū
- وَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟
- and would have been active
- khilālakum
- خِلَٰلَكُمْ
- in your midst
- yabghūnakumu
- يَبْغُونَكُمُ
- seeking (for) you
- l-fit'nata
- ٱلْفِتْنَةَ
- dissension
- wafīkum
- وَفِيكُمْ
- And among you (are some)
- sammāʿūna
- سَمَّٰعُونَ
- who would have listened
- lahum
- لَهُمْۗ
- to them
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌۢ
- (is) All-Knower
- bil-ẓālimīna
- بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
- of the wrongdoers
Had they gone forth with you, they would not have increased you except in confusion, and they would have been active among you, seeking [to cause] you fitnah [i.e., chaos and dissension]. And among you are avid listeners to them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 47)Tafsir
لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُا الْفِتْنَةَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوْا لَكَ الْاُمُوْرَ حَتّٰى جَاۤءَ الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ وَهُمْ كٰرِهُوْنَ ٤٨
- laqadi
- لَقَدِ
- Verily
- ib'taghawū
- ٱبْتَغَوُا۟
- they had sought
- l-fit'nata
- ٱلْفِتْنَةَ
- dissension
- min
- مِن
- before
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- waqallabū
- وَقَلَّبُوا۟
- and had upset
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- l-umūra
- ٱلْأُمُورَ
- the matters
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- jāa
- جَآءَ
- came
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- the truth
- waẓahara
- وَظَهَرَ
- and became manifest
- amru
- أَمْرُ
- (the) Order of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (the) Order of Allah
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- kārihūna
- كَٰرِهُونَ
- disliked (it)
They had already desired dissension before and had upset matters for you until the truth came and the ordinance [i.e., victory] of Allah appeared, while they were averse. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 48)Tafsir
وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَّقُوْلُ ائْذَنْ لِّيْ وَلَا تَفْتِنِّيْۗ اَلَا فِى الْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوْاۗ وَاِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيْطَةٌ ۢ بِالْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٤٩
- wamin'hum
- وَمِنْهُم
- And among them
- man
- مَّن
- (is he) who
- yaqūlu
- يَقُولُ
- says
- i'dhan
- ٱئْذَن
- "Grant me leave
- lī
- لِّى
- "Grant me leave
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- taftinnī
- تَفْتِنِّىٓۚ
- put me to trial"
- alā
- أَلَا
- Surely
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-fit'nati
- ٱلْفِتْنَةِ
- the trial
- saqaṭū
- سَقَطُوا۟ۗ
- they have fallen
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- jahannama
- جَهَنَّمَ
- Hell
- lamuḥīṭatun
- لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ
- (will) surely surround
- bil-kāfirīna
- بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelievers
And among them is he who says, "Permit me [to remain at home] and do not put me to trial." Unquestionably, into trial they have fallen. And indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 49)Tafsir
اِنْ تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْۚ وَاِنْ تُصِبْكَ مُصِيْبَةٌ يَّقُوْلُوْا قَدْ اَخَذْنَآ اَمْرَنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّوْا وَّهُمْ فَرِحُوْنَ ٥٠
- in
- إِن
- If
- tuṣib'ka
- تُصِبْكَ
- befalls you
- ḥasanatun
- حَسَنَةٌ
- good
- tasu'hum
- تَسُؤْهُمْۖ
- it distresses them
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- but if
- tuṣib'ka
- تُصِبْكَ
- befalls you
- muṣībatun
- مُصِيبَةٌ
- a calamity
- yaqūlū
- يَقُولُوا۟
- they say
- qad
- قَدْ
- "Verily
- akhadhnā
- أَخَذْنَآ
- we took
- amranā
- أَمْرَنَا
- our matter
- min
- مِن
- before"
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before"
- wayatawallaw
- وَيَتَوَلَّوا۟
- And they turn away
- wahum
- وَّهُمْ
- while they
- fariḥūna
- فَرِحُونَ
- (are) rejoicing
If good befalls you, it distresses them; but if disaster strikes you, they say, "We took our matter [in hand] before," and turn away while they are rejoicing. (QS. [9] At-Tawbah: 50)Tafsir
