وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ اَصْحٰبَ النَّارِ اِلَّا مَلٰۤىِٕكَةً ۖوَّمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ اِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْاۙ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِيْمَانًا وَّلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُوْنَۙ وَلِيَقُوْلَ الَّذِيْنَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ وَّالْكٰفِرُوْنَ مَاذَآ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلًاۗ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَهْدِيْ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُۗ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُوْدَ رَبِّكَ اِلَّا هُوَۗ وَمَا هِيَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٰى لِلْبَشَرِ ࣖ ٣١
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- jaʿalnā
- جَعَلْنَآ
- We have made
- aṣḥāba
- أَصْحَٰبَ
- keepers
- l-nāri
- ٱلنَّارِ
- (of) the Fire
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- malāikatan
- مَلَٰٓئِكَةًۙ
- Angels
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- jaʿalnā
- جَعَلْنَا
- We have made
- ʿiddatahum
- عِدَّتَهُمْ
- their number
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- fit'natan
- فِتْنَةً
- (as) a trial
- lilladhīna
- لِّلَّذِينَ
- for those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieve
- liyastayqina
- لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ
- that may be certain
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- ūtū
- أُوتُوا۟
- were given
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Scripture
- wayazdāda
- وَيَزْدَادَ
- and may increase
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوٓا۟
- believe
- īmānan
- إِيمَٰنًاۙ
- (in) faith
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yartāba
- يَرْتَابَ
- may doubt
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- ūtū
- أُوتُوا۟
- were given
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Scripture
- wal-mu'minūna
- وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَۙ
- and the believers
- waliyaqūla
- وَلِيَقُولَ
- and that may say
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those
- fī
- فِى
- in
- qulūbihim
- قُلُوبِهِم
- their hearts
- maraḍun
- مَّرَضٌ
- (is) a disease
- wal-kāfirūna
- وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
- and the disbelievers
- mādhā
- مَاذَآ
- "What
- arāda
- أَرَادَ
- (does) intend
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- bihādhā
- بِهَٰذَا
- by this
- mathalan
- مَثَلًاۚ
- example?"
- kadhālika
- كَذَٰلِكَ
- Thus
- yuḍillu
- يُضِلُّ
- does let go astray
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills
- wayahdī
- وَيَهْدِى
- and guides
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۚ
- He wills
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And none
- yaʿlamu
- يَعْلَمُ
- knows
- junūda
- جُنُودَ
- (the) hosts
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- huwa
- هُوَۚ
- Him
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- hiya
- هِىَ
- it
- illā
- إِلَّا
- (is) but
- dhik'rā
- ذِكْرَىٰ
- a reminder
- lil'bashari
- لِلْبَشَرِ
- to (the) human beings
And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve – that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah send astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And it [i.e., mention of the Fire] is not but a reminder to humanity. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 31)Tafsir
32
كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِۙ ٣٢
- kallā
- كَلَّا
- Nay!
- wal-qamari
- وَٱلْقَمَرِ
- By the moon
No! By the moon. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 32)Tafsir
33
وَالَّيْلِ اِذْ اَدْبَرَۙ ٣٣
- wa-al-layli
- وَٱلَّيْلِ
- And the night
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- adbara
- أَدْبَرَ
- it departs
And [by] the night when it departs. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 33)Tafsir
34
وَالصُّبْحِ اِذَآ اَسْفَرَۙ ٣٤
- wal-ṣub'ḥi
- وَٱلصُّبْحِ
- And the morning
- idhā
- إِذَآ
- when
- asfara
- أَسْفَرَ
- it brightens
And [by] the morning when it brightens, (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 34)Tafsir
35
اِنَّهَا لَاِحْدَى الْكُبَرِۙ ٣٥
- innahā
- إِنَّهَا
- Indeed it
- la-iḥ'dā
- لَإِحْدَى
- (is) surely one
- l-kubari
- ٱلْكُبَرِ
- (of) the greatest
Indeed, it [i.e., the Fire] is of the greatest [afflictions]. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 35)Tafsir
36
نَذِيْرًا لِّلْبَشَرِۙ ٣٦
- nadhīran
- نَذِيرًا
- A warning
- lil'bashari
- لِّلْبَشَرِ
- to (the) human being
As a warning to humanity – (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 36)Tafsir
37
لِمَنْ شَاۤءَ مِنْكُمْ اَنْ يَّتَقَدَّمَ اَوْ يَتَاَخَّرَۗ ٣٧
- liman
- لِمَن
- To whoever
- shāa
- شَآءَ
- wills
- minkum
- مِنكُمْ
- among you
- an
- أَن
- to
- yataqaddama
- يَتَقَدَّمَ
- proceed
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- yata-akhara
- يَتَأَخَّرَ
- stay behind
To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 37)Tafsir
38
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِيْنَةٌۙ ٣٨
- kullu
- كُلُّ
- Every
- nafsin
- نَفْسٍۭ
- soul
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kasabat
- كَسَبَتْ
- it has earned
- rahīnatun
- رَهِينَةٌ
- (is) pledged
Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 38)Tafsir
39
اِلَّآ اَصْحٰبَ الْيَمِيْنِ ۛ ٣٩
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- Except
- aṣḥāba
- أَصْحَٰبَ
- (the) companions
- l-yamīni
- ٱلْيَمِينِ
- (of) the right
Except the companions of the right,. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 39)Tafsir
40
فِيْ جَنّٰتٍ ۛ يَتَسَاۤءَلُوْنَۙ ٤٠
- fī
- فِى
- In
- jannātin
- جَنَّٰتٍ
- Gardens
- yatasāalūna
- يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
- asking each other
[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 40)Tafsir
