يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُۙ ١
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O you
- l-muzamilu
- ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ
- who wraps himself!
O you who wraps himself [in clothing] (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 1)Tafsir

قُمِ الَّيْلَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًاۙ ٢
- qumi
- قُمِ
- Stand
- al-layla
- ٱلَّيْلَ
- (in) the night
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a little
Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little – (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 2)Tafsir

نِّصْفَهٗٓ اَوِ انْقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيْلًاۙ ٣
- niṣ'fahu
- نِّصْفَهُۥٓ
- Half of it
- awi
- أَوِ
- or
- unquṣ
- ٱنقُصْ
- lessen
- min'hu
- مِنْهُ
- from it
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a little
Half of it – or subtract from it a little (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 3)Tafsir

اَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْاٰنَ تَرْتِيْلًاۗ ٤
- aw
- أَوْ
- Or
- zid
- زِدْ
- add
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- to it
- warattili
- وَرَتِّلِ
- and recite
- l-qur'āna
- ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
- the Quran
- tartīlan
- تَرْتِيلًا
- (with) measured rhythmic recitation
Or add to it, and recite the Quran with measured recitation. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 4)Tafsir
5
اِنَّا سَنُلْقِيْ عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيْلًا ٥
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed We
- sanul'qī
- سَنُلْقِى
- will cast
- ʿalayka
- عَلَيْكَ
- upon you
- qawlan
- قَوْلًا
- a Word
- thaqīlan
- ثَقِيلًا
- heavy
Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 5)Tafsir
6
اِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ الَّيْلِ هِيَ اَشَدُّ وَطْـًٔا وَّاَقْوَمُ قِيْلًاۗ ٦
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- nāshi-ata
- نَاشِئَةَ
- (the) rising
- al-layli
- ٱلَّيْلِ
- (at) the night
- hiya
- هِىَ
- it
- ashaddu
- أَشَدُّ
- (is) very hard
- waṭan
- وَطْـًٔا
- and most potent
- wa-aqwamu
- وَأَقْوَمُ
- and more suitable
- qīlan
- قِيلًا
- (for) Word
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 6)Tafsir

اِنَّ لَكَ فِى النَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيْلًاۗ ٧
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-nahāri
- ٱلنَّهَارِ
- the day
- sabḥan
- سَبْحًا
- (is) occupation
- ṭawīlan
- طَوِيلًا
- prolonged
Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 7)Tafsir
8
وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ اِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيْلًاۗ ٨
- wa-udh'kuri
- وَٱذْكُرِ
- And remember
- is'ma
- ٱسْمَ
- (the) name
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- watabattal
- وَتَبَتَّلْ
- and devote yourself
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- to Him
- tabtīlan
- تَبْتِيلًا
- (with) devotion
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 8)Tafsir
9
رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ فَاتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيْلًا ٩
- rabbu
- رَّبُّ
- (The) Lord
- l-mashriqi
- ٱلْمَشْرِقِ
- (of) the east
- wal-maghribi
- وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ
- and the west;
- lā
- لَآ
- (there is) no
- ilāha
- إِلَٰهَ
- god
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- huwa
- هُوَ
- Him
- fa-ittakhidh'hu
- فَٱتَّخِذْهُ
- so take Him
- wakīlan
- وَكِيلًا
- (as) Disposer of Affairs
[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 9)Tafsir
10
وَاصْبِرْ عَلٰى مَا يَقُوْلُوْنَ وَاهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيْلًا ١٠
- wa-iṣ'bir
- وَٱصْبِرْ
- And be patient
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- over
- mā
- مَا
- what
- yaqūlūna
- يَقُولُونَ
- they say
- wa-uh'jur'hum
- وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ
- and avoid them
- hajran
- هَجْرًا
- an avoidance
- jamīlan
- جَمِيلًا
- gracious
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. (QS. [73] Al-Muzzammil: 10)Tafsir
