Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Ma'idah Verse 85

Al-Ma'idah [5]: 85 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَاَثَابَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِمَا قَالُوْا جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۗ وَذٰلِكَ جَزَاۤءُ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ (المائدة : ٥)

fa-athābahumu
فَأَثَٰبَهُمُ
So rewarded them
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
bimā
بِمَا
for what
qālū
قَالُوا۟
they said
jannātin
جَنَّٰتٍ
(with) Gardens
tajrī
تَجْرِى
flows
min
مِن
from
taḥtihā
تَحْتِهَا
underneath them
l-anhāru
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
the rivers
khālidīna
خَٰلِدِينَ
will abide forever
fīhā
فِيهَاۚ
in it
wadhālika
وَذَٰلِكَ
And that
jazāu
جَزَآءُ
(is the) reward
l-muḥ'sinīna
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
(of) the good-doers

Transliteration:

Fa asaabahumul laahu bimaa qaaloo Jannnaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaa; wa zaalika jazaaa'ul muhsineen (QS. al-Māʾidah:85)

English / Sahih Translation:

So Allah rewarded them for what they said with gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of doers of good. (QS. Al-Ma'idah, ayah 85)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

So, because of what they said, Allah has awarded them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will live forever. That is the reward of those who are good in their deeds.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

So Allah will reward them for what they said with Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. And that is the reward of the good-doers.

So Allah rewarded them for these words with Gardens beneath which rivers flow so that they would abide there for ever. Such is the reward of the people who do good.

God will reward them for saying so with gardens where streams flow by, where they will live for ever. This is the recompense of those who do good.

So because of their saying, Allah bestowed them with Gardens beneath which rivers flow, in which they will abide forever; and this is the reward of the virtuous.

So, for what they said, Allah requited them with gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and that is the reward of the virtuous.

So God (judged that He would) reward them for their saying so with Gardens through which rivers flow, therein to abide. Such is the reward of those who are devoted to doing good, aware that God is seeing them.

Amatul Rahman Omar

Therefore Allâh will reward them for what they said, with Gardens served with running streams, they shall abide therein for ever. Such indeed is the reward of the doers of good to others.

English Literal

So God rewarded them because (of) what they said treed gardens, the rivers flow from beneath it, immortally/eternally in it, and that (is) the good doer`s reward .

So because of their saying, Allah bestowed them with Gardens beneath which rivers flow, in which they will abide forever; and this is the reward of the virtuous.

And for their words God will reward them with Gardens through which rivers flow, wherein they shall abide forever. That is the reward of those who do good.

God will reward them for what they say—Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will stay forever. Such is the reward of the righteous.

Tafsir jalalayn

God, exalted be He, says; So God has rewarded them for what they have said with Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide; that is the requital of those who are virtuous, by believing.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَأَثَابَهُمُ اللّهُ بِمَا قَالُواْ

So because of what they said, Allah awarded them...

rewarding them for embracing the faith and recognizing and believing in the truth.

جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الَانْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا

Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), they will abide therein forever.

and they will never be removed from it, for they will dwell and remain in it forever and ever,

وَذَلِكَ جَزَاء الْمُحْسِنِينَ



Such is the reward of good-doers.

who follow the truth and obey it wherever, whenever and with whomever they find it.

Allah then describes the condition of the miserable
