وَاِذَا جَاۤءُوْكُمْ قَالُوْٓا اٰمَنَّا وَقَدْ دَّخَلُوْا بِالْكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوْا بِهٖ ۗوَاللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْتُمُوْنَ ٦١
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- jāūkum
- جَآءُوكُمْ
- they come to you
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they say
- āmannā
- ءَامَنَّا
- "We believe"
- waqad
- وَقَد
- But certainly
- dakhalū
- دَّخَلُوا۟
- they entered
- bil-kuf'ri
- بِٱلْكُفْرِ
- with disbelief
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- and they
- qad
- قَدْ
- certainly
- kharajū
- خَرَجُوا۟
- went out
- bihi
- بِهِۦۚ
- with it
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- knows best
- bimā
- بِمَا
- [of] what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they were
- yaktumūna
- يَكْتُمُونَ
- hiding
And when they come to you, they say, "We believe." But they have entered with disbelief [in their hearts], and they have certainly left with it. And Allah is most knowing of what they were concealing. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 61)Tafsir
وَتَرٰى كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ يُسَارِعُوْنَ فِى الْاِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَاَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَۗ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٦٢
- watarā
- وَتَرَىٰ
- And you see
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- many
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْ
- of them
- yusāriʿūna
- يُسَٰرِعُونَ
- hastening
- fī
- فِى
- into
- l-ith'mi
- ٱلْإِثْمِ
- [the] sin
- wal-ʿud'wāni
- وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ
- and [the] transgression
- wa-aklihimu
- وَأَكْلِهِمُ
- and eating
- l-suḥ'ta
- ٱلسُّحْتَۚ
- the forbidden
- labi'sa
- لَبِئْسَ
- Surely evil
- mā
- مَا
- (is) what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they were
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- doing
And you see many of them hastening into sin and aggression and the devouring of [what is] unlawful. How wretched is what they have been doing. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 62)Tafsir
لَوْلَا يَنْهٰىهُمُ الرَّبَّانِيُّوْنَ وَالْاَحْبَارُ عَنْ قَوْلِهِمُ الْاِثْمَ وَاَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَۗ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوْا يَصْنَعُوْنَ ٦٣
- lawlā
- لَوْلَا
- Why (do) not
- yanhāhumu
- يَنْهَىٰهُمُ
- forbid them
- l-rabāniyūna
- ٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَ
- the Rabbis
- wal-aḥbāru
- وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ
- and the religious scholars
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- qawlihimu
- قَوْلِهِمُ
- their saying
- l-ith'ma
- ٱلْإِثْمَ
- the sinful
- wa-aklihimu
- وَأَكْلِهِمُ
- and their eating
- l-suḥ'ta
- ٱلسُّحْتَۚ
- (of) the forbidden?
- labi'sa
- لَبِئْسَ
- Surely evil
- mā
- مَا
- (is) what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaṣnaʿūna
- يَصْنَعُونَ
- do
Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 63)Tafsir
وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُوْدُ يَدُ اللّٰهِ مَغْلُوْلَةٌ ۗغُلَّتْ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَلُعِنُوْا بِمَا قَالُوْا ۘ بَلْ يَدٰهُ مَبْسُوْطَتٰنِۙ يُنْفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَاۤءُۗ وَلَيَزِيْدَنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ مَّآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَّكُفْرًاۗ وَاَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاۤءَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِۗ كُلَّمَآ اَوْقَدُوْا نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ اَطْفَاَهَا اللّٰهُ ۙوَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِ فَسَادًاۗ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ ٦٤
- waqālati
- وَقَالَتِ
- And said
- l-yahūdu
- ٱلْيَهُودُ
- the Jews
- yadu
- يَدُ
- The Hand
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- maghlūlatun
- مَغْلُولَةٌۚ
- (is) chained"
- ghullat
- غُلَّتْ
- Are chained
- aydīhim
- أَيْدِيهِمْ
- their hands
- waluʿinū
- وَلُعِنُوا۟
- and they have been cursed
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- qālū
- قَالُواۘ
- they said
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- yadāhu
- يَدَاهُ
- His Hands
- mabsūṭatāni
- مَبْسُوطَتَانِ
- (are) stretched out
- yunfiqu
- يُنفِقُ
- He spends
- kayfa
- كَيْفَ
- how
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۚ
- He wills
- walayazīdanna
- وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ
- And surely increase
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- many
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُم
- of them
- mā
- مَّآ
- what
- unzila
- أُنزِلَ
- has been revealed
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- min
- مِن
- from
- rabbika
- رَّبِّكَ
- your Lord
- ṭugh'yānan
- طُغْيَٰنًا
- (in) rebellion
- wakuf'ran
- وَكُفْرًاۚ
- and disbelief
- wa-alqaynā
- وَأَلْقَيْنَا
- And We have cast
- baynahumu
- بَيْنَهُمُ
- among them
- l-ʿadāwata
- ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ
- [the] enmity
- wal-baghḍāa
- وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ
- and [the] hatred
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- till
- yawmi
- يَوْمِ
- (the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِۚ
- (of) the Resurrection
- kullamā
- كُلَّمَآ
- Every time
- awqadū
- أَوْقَدُوا۟
- they kindled
- nāran
- نَارًا
- (the) fire
- lil'ḥarbi
- لِّلْحَرْبِ
- of [the] war
- aṭfa-ahā
- أَطْفَأَهَا
- it (was) extinguished
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُۚ
- (by) Allah
- wayasʿawna
- وَيَسْعَوْنَ
- And they strive
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- fasādan
- فَسَادًاۚ
- spreading corruption
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- yuḥibbu
- يُحِبُّ
- love
- l-muf'sidīna
- ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
- the corrupters
And the Jews say, "The hand of Allah is chained." Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 64)Tafsir
وَلَوْ اَنَّ اَهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ اٰمَنُوْا وَاتَّقَوْا لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّاٰتِهِمْ وَلَاَدْخَلْنٰهُمْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيْمِ ٦٥
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- ahla
- أَهْلَ
- (the) People
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- (of) the Book
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- (had) believed
- wa-ittaqaw
- وَٱتَّقَوْا۟
- and feared (Allah)
- lakaffarnā
- لَكَفَّرْنَا
- surely We (would have) removed
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- sayyiātihim
- سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ
- their evil (deeds)
- wala-adkhalnāhum
- وَلَأَدْخَلْنَٰهُمْ
- and surely We (would have) admitted them
- jannāti
- جَنَّٰتِ
- [to] Gardens
- l-naʿīmi
- ٱلنَّعِيمِ
- (of) Bliss
And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allah, We would have removed from them their misdeeds and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 65)Tafsir
وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اَقَامُوا التَّوْرٰىةَ وَالْاِنْجِيْلَ وَمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْهِمْ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ لَاَكَلُوْا مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْۗ مِنْهُمْ اُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۗ وَكَثِيْرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَاۤءَ مَا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ࣖ ٦٦
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- annahum
- أَنَّهُمْ
- that they
- aqāmū
- أَقَامُوا۟
- had stood fast
- l-tawrāta
- ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ
- (by) the Taurat
- wal-injīla
- وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ
- and the Injeel
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- and what
- unzila
- أُنزِلَ
- was revealed
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِم
- to them
- min
- مِّن
- from
- rabbihim
- رَّبِّهِمْ
- their Lord
- la-akalū
- لَأَكَلُوا۟
- surely they (would have) eaten
- min
- مِن
- from
- fawqihim
- فَوْقِهِمْ
- above them
- wamin
- وَمِن
- and from
- taḥti
- تَحْتِ
- beneath
- arjulihim
- أَرْجُلِهِمۚ
- their feet
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْ
- Among them
- ummatun
- أُمَّةٌ
- (is) a community
- muq'taṣidatun
- مُّقْتَصِدَةٌۖ
- moderate
- wakathīrun
- وَكَثِيرٌ
- but many
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُمْ
- of them -
- sāa
- سَآءَ
- evil
- mā
- مَا
- (is) what
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- they do
And if only they had upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord [i.e., the Quran], they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them are a moderate [i.e., acceptable] community, but many of them – evil is that which they do. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 66)Tafsir
۞ يٰٓاَيُّهَا الرَّسُوْلُ بَلِّغْ مَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ ۗوَاِنْ لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسٰلَتَهٗ ۗوَاللّٰهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِى الْقَوْمَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٦٧
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O
- l-rasūlu
- ٱلرَّسُولُ
- Messenger!
- balligh
- بَلِّغْ
- Convey
- mā
- مَآ
- what
- unzila
- أُنزِلَ
- has been revealed
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- min
- مِن
- from
- rabbika
- رَّبِّكَۖ
- your Lord
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- and if
- lam
- لَّمْ
- not
- tafʿal
- تَفْعَلْ
- you do
- famā
- فَمَا
- then not
- ballaghta
- بَلَّغْتَ
- you (have) conveyed
- risālatahu
- رِسَالَتَهُۥۚ
- His Message
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- yaʿṣimuka
- يَعْصِمُكَ
- will protect you
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِۗ
- the people
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- yahdī
- يَهْدِى
- guide
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelieving
O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 67)Tafsir
قُلْ يٰٓاَهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ حَتّٰى تُقِيْمُوا التَّوْرٰىةَ وَالْاِنْجِيْلَ وَمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكُمْ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ ۗوَلَيَزِيْدَنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ مَّآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَّكُفْرًاۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٦٨
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- yāahla
- يَٰٓأَهْلَ
- "O People
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- (of) the Book!
- lastum
- لَسْتُمْ
- You are not
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- anything
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- tuqīmū
- تُقِيمُوا۟
- you stand fast
- l-tawrāta
- ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ
- (by) the Taurat
- wal-injīla
- وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ
- and the Injeel
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- and what
- unzila
- أُنزِلَ
- has been revealed

- your Lord

- وَكُفْرًاۖ
- and disbelief
- falā
- فَلَا
- So (do) not
- tasa
- تَأْسَ
- grieve
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- over
- l-qawmi
- ٱلْقَوْمِ
- the people
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelieving
Say, "O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Quran]." And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 68)Tafsir
اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَالَّذِيْنَ هَادُوْا وَالصَّابِـُٔوْنَ وَالنَّصٰرٰى مَنْ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ ٦٩
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believed
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who
- hādū
- هَادُوا۟
- became Jews
- wal-ṣābiūna
- وَٱلصَّٰبِـُٔونَ
- and the Sabians
- wal-naṣārā
- وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
- and the Christians
- man
- مَنْ
- whoever
- āmana
- ءَامَنَ
- believed
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wal-yawmi
- وَٱلْيَوْمِ
- and the Day
- l-ākhiri
- ٱلْءَاخِرِ
- the Last
- waʿamila
- وَعَمِلَ
- and did
- ṣāliḥan
- صَٰلِحًا
- good deeds
- falā
- فَلَا
- then no
- khawfun
- خَوْفٌ
- fear
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- on them
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yaḥzanūna
- يَحْزَنُونَ
- will grieve
Indeed, those who have believed [in Prophet Muhammad (^)] and those [before him (^)] who were Jews or Sabeans or Christians – those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness – no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 69)Tafsir
لَقَدْ اَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ وَاَرْسَلْنَآ اِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا ۗ كُلَّمَا جَاۤءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوٰٓى اَنْفُسُهُمْۙ فَرِيْقًا كَذَّبُوْا وَفَرِيْقًا يَّقْتُلُوْنَ ٧٠
- laqad
- لَقَدْ
- Certainly
- akhadhnā
- أَخَذْنَا
- We took
- mīthāqa
- مِيثَٰقَ
- a Covenant
- banī
- بَنِىٓ
- (from the) Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel
- wa-arsalnā
- وَأَرْسَلْنَآ
- and We sent
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- rusulan
- رُسُلًاۖ
- Messengers
- kullamā
- كُلَّمَا
- Whenever
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُمْ
- came to them
- rasūlun
- رَسُولٌۢ
- any Messenger
- bimā
- بِمَا
- with what
- lā
- لَا
- not
- tahwā
- تَهْوَىٰٓ
- desired
- anfusuhum
- أَنفُسُهُمْ
- their souls
- farīqan
- فَرِيقًا
- a group
- kadhabū
- كَذَّبُوا۟
- they denied
- wafarīqan
- وَفَرِيقًا
- and a group
- yaqtulūna
- يَقْتُلُونَ
- they kill
We had already taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and had sent to them messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with what their souls did not desire, a party [of messengers] they denied, and another party they killed. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 70)Tafsir
