Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nisa Verse 44
An-Nisa [4]: 44 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوْا نَصِيْبًا مِّنَ الْكِتٰبِ يَشْتَرُوْنَ الضَّلٰلَةَ وَيُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ تَضِلُّوا السَّبِيْلَۗ (النساء : ٤)

Transliteration:
Alam tara ilal lazeena ootoo naseebam minal Kitaabi yashtaroonad dalaalata wa yureedoona an tadillus sabeel(QS. an-Nisāʾ:44)
English / Sahih Translation:
Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, purchasing error [in exchange for it] and wishing you would lose the way? (QS. An-Nisa, ayah 44)

And some Jews change words from their context, and say, "We hear but we disobey"; and "We listen without hearing," and "Ra´hina ("Attend to us")" distorting it with their tongues (to mean "Take us to pasture") and slandering religion. But if only they had said, "We hear and we obey", and "We do hear" and "Do attend to us", it would have been better for them and more upright; but Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, for they will not believe, except a few.

Have you not seen those who were given a share, a portion, of the Book, namely, the Jews, purchasing error, with guidance, and desiring that you should err from the way?, that you should stray from the path of truth and be like them.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Chastising the Jews for Choosing Misguidance, Altering Allah's Words, and Mocking Islam
Allah says;
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ يَشْتَرُونَ الضَّلَلَةَ
Have you not seen those (the Jews) who were given a portion of the Book, purchasing the wrong path,
Allah states that the Jews, may Allah's continued curse fall on them until the Day of Resurrection, have purchased the wrong path instead of guidance, and ignored what Allah sent down to His Messenger Muhammad.
They also ignored the knowledge that they inherited from previous Prophets, about the description of Muhammad, so that they may have a small amount of the delights of this life.
وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّواْ السَّبِيلَ
and wishing that you should go astray from the right path.
for they would like that you disbelieve in what was sent down to you, O believers, and that you abandon the guidance and beneficial knowledge that you have
