(The Troops)

51

فَاَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّاٰتُ مَا كَسَبُوْا ۗوَالَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا مِنْ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ سَيُصِيْبُهُمْ سَيِّاٰتُ مَا كَسَبُوْا ۙوَمَا هُمْ بِمُعْجِزِيْنَ ٥١

fa-aṣābahum
فَأَصَابَهُمْ
Then struck them
sayyiātu
سَيِّـَٔاتُ
(the) evils
مَا
(of) what
kasabū
كَسَبُوا۟ۚ
they earned
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ẓalamū
ظَلَمُوا۟
have wronged
min
مِنْ
of
hāulāi
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
sayuṣībuhum
سَيُصِيبُهُمْ
will strike them
sayyiātu
سَيِّـَٔاتُ
(the) evils
مَا
(of) what
kasabū
كَسَبُوا۟
they earned;
wamā
وَمَا
and not
hum
هُم
they
bimuʿ'jizīna
بِمُعْجِزِينَ
will be able to escape
And the evil consequences of what they earned struck them. And those who have wronged of these [people] will be struck [i.e., afflicted] by the evil consequences of what they earned; and they will not cause failure. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 51)
Tafsir
52

اَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۗاِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّؤْمِنُوْنَ ࣖ ٥٢

awalam
أَوَلَمْ
Do not
yaʿlamū
يَعْلَمُوٓا۟
they know
anna
أَنَّ
that
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
yabsuṭu
يَبْسُطُ
extends
l-riz'qa
ٱلرِّزْقَ
the provision
liman
لِمَن
for whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayaqdiru
وَيَقْدِرُۚ
and restricts
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyātin
لَءَايَٰتٍ
surely (are) signs
liqawmin
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
who believe
Do they not know that Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 52)
Tafsir
53

۞ قُلْ يٰعِبَادِيَ الَّذِيْنَ اَسْرَفُوْا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوْا مِنْ رَّحْمَةِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ جَمِيْعًا ۗاِنَّهٗ هُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ ٥٣

qul
قُلْ
Say
yāʿibādiya
يَٰعِبَادِىَ
"O My slaves!
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
asrafū
أَسْرَفُوا۟
have transgressed
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
against
anfusihim
أَنفُسِهِمْ
themselves
لَا
(do) not
taqnaṭū
تَقْنَطُوا۟
despair
min
مِن
of
raḥmati
رَّحْمَةِ
(the) Mercy
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
yaghfiru
يَغْفِرُ
forgives
l-dhunūba
ٱلذُّنُوبَ
the sins
jamīʿan
جَمِيعًاۚ
all
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed He
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-ghafūru
ٱلْغَفُورُ
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
l-raḥīmu
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 53)
Tafsir
54

وَاَنِيْبُوْٓا اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ وَاَسْلِمُوْا لَهٗ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ يَّأْتِيَكُمُ الْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُوْنَ ٥٤

wa-anībū
وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟
And turn
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
rabbikum
رَبِّكُمْ
your Lord
wa-aslimū
وَأَسْلِمُوا۟
and submit
lahu
لَهُۥ
to Him
min
مِن
before
qabli
قَبْلِ
before
an
أَن
[that]
yatiyakumu
يَأْتِيَكُمُ
comes to you
l-ʿadhābu
ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
لَا
not
tunṣarūna
تُنصَرُونَ
you will be helped
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 54)
Tafsir
55

وَاتَّبِعُوْٓا اَحْسَنَ مَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكُمْ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ يَّأْتِيَكُمُ الْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَّاَنْتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُوْنَ ۙ ٥٥

wa-ittabiʿū
وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟
And follow
aḥsana
أَحْسَنَ
(the) best
مَآ
(of) what
unzila
أُنزِلَ
is revealed
ilaykum
إِلَيْكُم
to you
min
مِّن
from
rabbikum
رَّبِّكُم
your Lord
min
مِّن
before
qabli
قَبْلِ
before
an
أَن
[that]
yatiyakumu
يَأْتِيَكُمُ
comes to you
l-ʿadhābu
ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
baghtatan
بَغْتَةً
suddenly
wa-antum
وَأَنتُمْ
while you
لَا
(do) not
tashʿurūna
تَشْعُرُونَ
perceive
And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Quran] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive, (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 55)
Tafsir
56

اَنْ تَقُوْلَ نَفْسٌ يّٰحَسْرَتٰى عَلٰى مَا فَرَّطْتُّ فِيْ جَنْۢبِ اللّٰهِ وَاِنْ كُنْتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِيْنَۙ ٥٦

an

Lest
taqūla
تَقُولَ
should say
nafsun
نَفْسٌ
a soul
yāḥasratā
يَٰحَسْرَتَىٰ
"Oh! My regret
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
farraṭtu
فَرَّطتُ
I neglected
فِى
in
janbi
جَنۢبِ
regard to
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wa-in
وَإِن
and that
kuntu
كُنتُ
I was
lamina
لَمِنَ
surely among
l-sākhirīna
ٱلسَّٰخِرِينَ
the mockers"
Lest a soul should say, "Oh, [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allah and that I was among the mockers." (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 56)
Tafsir
57

اَوْ تَقُوْلَ لَوْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ هَدٰىنِيْ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ ۙ ٥٧

aw
أَوْ
Or
taqūla
تَقُولَ
it should say
law
لَوْ
"If only
anna
أَنَّ
"If only
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
hadānī
هَدَىٰنِى
(had) guided me
lakuntu
لَكُنتُ
surely, I (would) have been
mina
مِنَ
among
l-mutaqīna
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
the righteous"
Or [lest] it say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous." (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 57)
Tafsir
58

اَوْ تَقُوْلَ حِيْنَ تَرَى الْعَذَابَ لَوْ اَنَّ لِيْ كَرَّةً فَاَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ ٥٨

aw
أَوْ
Or
taqūla
تَقُولَ
it should say
ḥīna
حِينَ
when
tarā
تَرَى
it sees
l-ʿadhāba
ٱلْعَذَابَ
the punishment
law
لَوْ
"If
anna
أَنَّ
only
لِى
I had
karratan
كَرَّةً
another chance
fa-akūna
فَأَكُونَ
then I could be
mina
مِنَ
among
l-muḥ'sinīna
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
the good-doers"
Or [lest] it say when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good." (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 58)
Tafsir
59

بَلٰى قَدْ جَاۤءَتْكَ اٰيٰتِيْ فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَاسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٥٩

balā
بَلَىٰ
"Nay
qad
قَدْ
verily
jāatka
جَآءَتْكَ
came to you
āyātī
ءَايَٰتِى
My Verses
fakadhabta
فَكَذَّبْتَ
but you denied
bihā
بِهَا
them
wa-is'takbarta
وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتَ
and were arrogant
wakunta
وَكُنتَ
and you were
mina
مِنَ
among
l-kāfirīna
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers
But yes, there had come to you My verses, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers. (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 59)
Tafsir
60

وَيَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ تَرَى الَّذِيْنَ كَذَبُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِ وُجُوْهُهُمْ مُّسْوَدَّةٌ ۗ اَلَيْسَ فِيْ جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ ٦٠

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And (on the) Day
l-qiyāmati
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
tarā
تَرَى
you will see
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kadhabū
كَذَبُوا۟
lied
ʿalā
عَلَى
about
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wujūhuhum
وُجُوهُهُم
their faces
mus'waddatun
مُّسْوَدَّةٌۚ
(will be) blackened
alaysa
أَلَيْسَ
Is (there) not
فِى
in
jahannama
جَهَنَّمَ
Hell
mathwan
مَثْوًى
an abode
lil'mutakabbirīna
لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
for the arrogant?
And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allah [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant? (QS. [39] Az-Zumar: 60)
Tafsir
