Al-Qur'an Surah As-Sajdah Verse 28

As-Sajdah [32]: 28 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْفَتْحُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ (السجدة : ٣٢)

wayaqūlūna
وَيَقُولُونَ
And they say
matā
مَتَىٰ
"When (will be)
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this
l-fatḥu
ٱلْفَتْحُ
decision
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you are
ṣādiqīna
صَٰدِقِينَ
truthful?"

Transliteration:

Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal fat hu in kuntum saadiqeen (QS. as-Sajdah:28)

English / Sahih Translation:

And they say, "When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful?" (QS. As-Sajdah, ayah 28)

And they say, “When will this decision take place if you are truthful (in your claim)?”

They ask ˹mockingly˺, “When is this ˹Day of final˺ Decision, if what you say is true?”

They say, ‘When will this judgement be, if you are truthful?’

Instead, they say (throwing out a challenge): "When will this judgment take place (which will cause everything to appear in all clarity), if you are truthful (in your threats)?"

And they say, `If you speak the truth tell us when this victory (of yours) will come.´

And they say: "When (is) this, the opening/victory if you were truthful?"

And they say, “When will this decision take place, if you are truthful?”

Do they not see that We drive the water to a land having no herbage, then We bring forth thereby crops of which their cattle and they themselves eat; will they not then see?

They say: "When will this Al-Fath (Decision) be (between us and you, i.e. the Day of Resurrection), if you are telling the truth?"

Is it not clear to them, how many of the generations, in whose abodes they go about, We destroyed before them? Surely there are signs in this. Will they not then hear?

And they say: When will this judgment take place, If you are truthful?

And they say, "When will this judgement come, if you are telling the truth?"

And they say, “When is this victory, if you are truthful?”

And they say, to the believers; `When will this [decisive] Judgement, between us and yourselves, be, if you are truthful?'

How the Disbelievers sought to hasten on the Punishment, and what happened to Them

Allah tells us how the disbelievers sought to hasten on the punishment, and to bring the wrath and vengeance of Allah upon themselves, because they thought this punishment would never happen, and because of their disbelief and stubbornness.

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْفَتْحُ

They say;"When will this Fath be..."

meaning, `when will you prevail over us, O Muhammad, since you claim that there will be a time when you will gain the upper hand over us and take your revenge on us, so when will that happen! All we see of you and your companions is that you are hiding, afraid and humiliated.'

إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ



if you are telling the truth"
