۞ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّلْنَا لَهُمُ الْقَوْلَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ ۗ ٥١
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And indeed
- waṣṣalnā
- وَصَّلْنَا
- We have conveyed
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- to them
- l-qawla
- ٱلْقَوْلَ
- the Word
- laʿallahum
- لَعَلَّهُمْ
- so that they may
- yatadhakkarūna
- يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
- remember
And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the word [i.e., the Quran] that they might be reminded. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 51)Tafsir
اَلَّذِيْنَ اٰتَيْنٰهُمُ الْكِتٰبَ مِنْ قَبْلِهٖ هُمْ بِهٖ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ ٥٢
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those who
- ātaynāhumu
- ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ
- We gave them
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Scripture
- min
- مِن
- before it
- qablihi
- قَبْلِهِۦ
- before it
- hum
- هُم
- they
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- in it
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- believe
Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it – they are believers in it. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 52)Tafsir
وَاِذَا يُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُوْٓا اٰمَنَّا بِهٖٓ اِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّنَآ اِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلِهٖ مُسْلِمِيْنَ ٥٣
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- yut'lā
- يُتْلَىٰ
- it is recited
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they say
- āmannā
- ءَامَنَّا
- "We believe
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- in it
- innahu
- إِنَّهُ
- Indeed, it
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- (is) the truth
- min
- مِن
- from
- rabbinā
- رَّبِّنَآ
- our Lord
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed, we
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- [we] were
- min
- مِن
- before it
- qablihi
- قَبْلِهِۦ
- before it
- mus'limīna
- مُسْلِمِينَ
- Muslims"
And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allah]." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 53)Tafsir
اُولٰۤىِٕكَ يُؤْتَوْنَ اَجْرَهُمْ مَّرَّتَيْنِ بِمَا صَبَرُوْا وَيَدْرَءُوْنَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ السَّيِّئَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنٰهُمْ يُنْفِقُوْنَ ٥٤
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those
- yu'tawna
- يُؤْتَوْنَ
- will be given
- ajrahum
- أَجْرَهُم
- their reward
- marratayni
- مَّرَّتَيْنِ
- twice
- bimā
- بِمَا
- because
- ṣabarū
- صَبَرُوا۟
- they are patient
- wayadraūna
- وَيَدْرَءُونَ
- and they repel
- bil-ḥasanati
- بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ
- with good -
- l-sayi-ata
- ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ
- the evil
- wamimmā
- وَمِمَّا
- and from what
- razaqnāhum
- رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ
- We have provided them
- yunfiqūna
- يُنفِقُونَ
- they spend
Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 54)Tafsir
وَاِذَا سَمِعُوا اللَّغْوَ اَعْرَضُوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوْا لَنَآ اَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ اَعْمَالُكُمْ ۖسَلٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ لَا نَبْتَغِى الْجٰهِلِيْنَ ٥٥
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- samiʿū
- سَمِعُوا۟
- they hear
- l-laghwa
- ٱللَّغْوَ
- vain talk
- aʿraḍū
- أَعْرَضُوا۟
- they turn away
- ʿanhu
- عَنْهُ
- from it
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- and say
- lanā
- لَنَآ
- "For us
- aʿmālunā
- أَعْمَٰلُنَا
- our deeds
- walakum
- وَلَكُمْ
- and for you
- aʿmālukum
- أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ
- your deeds
- salāmun
- سَلَٰمٌ
- Peace (be)
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- on you;
- lā
- لَا
- not
- nabtaghī
- نَبْتَغِى
- we seek
- l-jāhilīna
- ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
- the ignorant"
And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 55)Tafsir
اِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِيْ مَنْ اَحْبَبْتَ وَلٰكِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَهْدِيْ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۚوَهُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِيْنَ ٥٦
- innaka
- إِنَّكَ
- Indeed you
- lā
- لَا
- (can) not
- tahdī
- تَهْدِى
- guide
- man
- مَنْ
- whom
- aḥbabta
- أَحْبَبْتَ
- you love
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- but
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- yahdī
- يَهْدِى
- guides
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۚ
- He wills
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- (is) most knowing
- bil-muh'tadīna
- بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
- (of) the guided ones
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 56)Tafsir
وَقَالُوْٓا اِنْ نَّتَّبِعِ الْهُدٰى مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ اَرْضِنَاۗ اَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّنْ لَّهُمْ حَرَمًا اٰمِنًا يُّجْبٰٓى اِلَيْهِ ثَمَرٰتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ رِّزْقًا مِّنْ لَّدُنَّا وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ٥٧
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوٓا۟
- And they say
- in
- إِن
- "If
- nattabiʿi
- نَّتَّبِعِ
- we follow
- l-hudā
- ٱلْهُدَىٰ
- the guidance
- maʿaka
- مَعَكَ
- with you
- nutakhaṭṭaf
- نُتَخَطَّفْ
- we would be swept
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- arḍinā
- أَرْضِنَآۚ
- our land"
- awalam
- أَوَلَمْ
- Have not
- numakkin
- نُمَكِّن
- We established
- lahum
- لَّهُمْ
- for them
- ḥaraman
- حَرَمًا
- a sanctuary
- āminan
- ءَامِنًا
- secure
- yuj'bā
- يُجْبَىٰٓ
- are brought
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- to it
- thamarātu
- ثَمَرَٰتُ
- fruits
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- (of) all
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- things
- riz'qan
- رِّزْقًا
- a provision
- min
- مِّن
- from
- ladunnā
- لَّدُنَّا
- Us?
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- But
- aktharahum
- أَكْثَرَهُمْ
- most of them
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
And they [i.e., the Quraysh] say, "If we were to follow the guidance with you, we would be swept from our land." Have We not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 57)Tafsir
وَكَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ ۢ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيْشَتَهَا ۚفَتِلْكَ مَسٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَنْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًاۗ وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ الْوَارِثِيْنَ ٥٨
- wakam
- وَكَمْ
- And how many
- ahlaknā
- أَهْلَكْنَا
- We have destroyed
- min
- مِن
- of
- qaryatin
- قَرْيَةٍۭ
- a town
- baṭirat
- بَطِرَتْ
- which exulted
- maʿīshatahā
- مَعِيشَتَهَاۖ
- (in) its means of livelihood
- fatil'ka
- فَتِلْكَ
- And these
- masākinuhum
- مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ
- (are) their dwellings
- lam
- لَمْ
- not
- tus'kan
- تُسْكَن
- have been inhabited
- min
- مِّنۢ
- after them
- baʿdihim
- بَعْدِهِمْ
- after them
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًاۖ
- a little
- wakunnā
- وَكُنَّا
- And indeed, [We]
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- We
- l-wārithīna
- ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
- (are) the inheritors
And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 58)Tafsir
وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ الْقُرٰى حَتّٰى يَبْعَثَ فِيْٓ اُمِّهَا رَسُوْلًا يَّتْلُوْا عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيٰتِنَاۚ وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِى الْقُرٰىٓ اِلَّا وَاَهْلُهَا ظٰلِمُوْنَ ٥٩
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- was
- rabbuka
- رَبُّكَ
- your Lord
- muh'lika
- مُهْلِكَ
- (the) one to destroy
- l-qurā
- ٱلْقُرَىٰ
- the towns
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- yabʿatha
- يَبْعَثَ
- He (had) sent
- fī
- فِىٓ
- in
- ummihā
- أُمِّهَا
- their mother (town)
- rasūlan
- رَسُولًا
- a Messenger
- yatlū
- يَتْلُوا۟
- reciting
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- āyātinā
- ءَايَٰتِنَاۚ
- Our Verses
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- We would be
- muh'likī
- مُهْلِكِى
- (the) one to destroy
- l-qurā
- ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ
- the towns
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- wa-ahluhā
- وَأَهْلُهَا
- while their people
- ẓālimūna
- ظَٰلِمُونَ
- (were) wrongdoers
And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother [i.e., principal city] a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 59)Tafsir
وَمَآ اُوْتِيْتُمْ مِّنْ شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَزِيْنَتُهَا ۚوَمَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ خَيْرٌ وَّاَبْقٰىۗ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ ࣖ ٦٠
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And whatever
- ūtītum
- أُوتِيتُم
- you have been given
- min
- مِّن
- from
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- things
- famatāʿu
- فَمَتَٰعُ
- (is) an enjoyment
- l-ḥayati
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
- (of the) life
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- (of) the world
- wazīnatuhā
- وَزِينَتُهَاۚ
- and its adornment
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And what
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- (is) with
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- khayrun
- خَيْرٌ
- (is) better
- wa-abqā
- وَأَبْقَىٰٓۚ
- and more lasting
- afalā
- أَفَلَا
- So (will) not
- taʿqilūna
- تَعْقِلُونَ
- you use intellect?
And whatever thing you [people] have been given – it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason? (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 60)Tafsir
