قَالُوْا لَنْ نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عٰكِفِيْنَ حَتّٰى يَرْجِعَ اِلَيْنَا مُوْسٰى ٩١
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- lan
- لَن
- "Never
- nabraḥa
- نَّبْرَحَ
- we will cease
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- being devoted to it
- ʿākifīna
- عَٰكِفِينَ
- being devoted to it
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- yarjiʿa
- يَرْجِعَ
- returns
- ilaynā
- إِلَيْنَا
- to us
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa"
They said, "We will never cease being devoted to it [i.e., the calf] until Moses returns to us." (QS. [20] Taha: 91)Tafsir
قَالَ يٰهٰرُوْنُ مَا مَنَعَكَ اِذْ رَاَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوْٓا ۙ ٩٢
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāhārūnu
- يَٰهَٰرُونُ
- "O Harun!
- mā
- مَا
- What
- manaʿaka
- مَنَعَكَ
- prevented you
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- ra-aytahum
- رَأَيْتَهُمْ
- you saw them
- ḍallū
- ضَلُّوٓا۟
- going astray
[Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, (QS. [20] Taha: 92)Tafsir
اَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِۗ اَفَعَصَيْتَ اَمْرِيْ ٩٣
- allā
- أَلَّا
- That not
- tattabiʿani
- تَتَّبِعَنِۖ
- you follow me?
- afaʿaṣayta
- أَفَعَصَيْتَ
- Then have you disobeyed
- amrī
- أَمْرِى
- my order?"
From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order?" (QS. [20] Taha: 93)Tafsir
قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِيْ وَلَا بِرَأْسِيْۚ اِنِّيْ خَشِيْتُ اَنْ تَقُوْلَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِيْ ٩٤

- قَالَ
- He said
- yabna-umma
- يَبْنَؤُمَّ
- "O son of my mother!
- lā
- لَا
- (Do) not
- takhudh
- تَأْخُذْ
- seize (me)
- biliḥ'yatī
- بِلِحْيَتِى
- by my beard
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- birasī
- بِرَأْسِىٓۖ
- by my head
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed, I
- khashītu
- خَشِيتُ
- [I] feared
- an
- أَن
- that
- taqūla
- تَقُولَ
- you would say
- farraqta
- فَرَّقْتَ
- "You caused division
- bayna
- بَيْنَ
- between
- banī
- بَنِىٓ
- (the) Children of Israel
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (the) Children of Israel
- walam
- وَلَمْ
- and not
- tarqub
- تَرْقُبْ
- you respect
- qawlī
- قَوْلِى
- my word"
[Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.'" (QS. [20] Taha: 94)Tafsir
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يٰسَامِرِيُّ ٩٥
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- famā
- فَمَا
- "Then what
- khaṭbuka
- خَطْبُكَ
- (is) your case
- yāsāmiriyyu
- يَٰسَٰمِرِىُّ
- O Samiri?"
[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" (QS. [20] Taha: 95)Tafsir
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوْا بِهٖ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِّنْ اَثَرِ الرَّسُوْلِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِيْ نَفْسِيْ ٩٦

- قَالَ
- He said
- baṣur'tu
- بَصُرْتُ
- "I perceived
- bimā
- بِمَا
- what
- lam
- لَمْ
- not
- yabṣurū
- يَبْصُرُوا۟
- they perceive
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- in it
- faqabaḍtu
- فَقَبَضْتُ
- so I took
- qabḍatan
- قَبْضَةً
- a handful
- min
- مِّنْ
- from
- athari
- أَثَرِ
- (the) track
- l-rasūli
- ٱلرَّسُولِ
- (of) the Messenger
- fanabadhtuhā
- فَنَبَذْتُهَا
- then threw it
- wakadhālika
- وَكَذَٰلِكَ
- and thus
- sawwalat
- سَوَّلَتْ
- suggested
- lī
- لِى
- to me
- nafsī
- نَفْسِى
- my soul"
He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." (QS. [20] Taha: 96)Tafsir
قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَاِنَّ لَكَ فِى الْحَيٰوةِ اَنْ تَقُوْلَ لَا مِسَاسَۖ وَاِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّنْ تُخْلَفَهٗۚ وَانْظُرْ اِلٰٓى اِلٰهِكَ الَّذِيْ ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۗ لَنُحَرِّقَنَّهٗ ثُمَّ لَنَنْسِفَنَّهٗ فِى الْيَمِّ نَسْفًا ٩٧

- قَالَ
- He said
- fa-idh'hab
- فَٱذْهَبْ
- "Then go
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ḥayati
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
- the life
- an
- أَن
- that
- taqūla
- تَقُولَ
- you will say
- lā
- لَا
- "(Do) not
- misāsa
- مِسَاسَۖ
- touch'"
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- mawʿidan
- مَوْعِدًا
- (is) an appointment
- lan
- لَّن
- never
- tukh'lafahu
- تُخْلَفَهُۥۖ
- you will fail to (keep) it
- wa-unẓur
- وَٱنظُرْ
- And look
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- at
- ilāhika
- إِلَٰهِكَ
- your god
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- that which
- ẓalta
- ظَلْتَ
- you have remained
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- to it
- ʿākifan
- عَاكِفًاۖ
- devoted
- lanuḥarriqannahu
- لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ
- Surely we will burn it
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- lanansifannahu
- لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ
- certainly we will scatter it
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-yami
- ٱلْيَمِّ
- the sea
- nasfan
- نَسْفًا
- (in) particles"
[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it [i.e., its ashes] into the sea with a blast. (QS. [20] Taha: 97)Tafsir
اِنَّمَآ اِلٰهُكُمُ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۗ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا ٩٨
- innamā
- إِنَّمَآ
- Only
- ilāhukumu
- إِلَٰهُكُمُ
- your God
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (is) Allah
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One
- lā
- لَآ
- (there is) no
- ilāha
- إِلَٰهَ
- god
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- huwa
- هُوَۚ
- He
- wasiʿa
- وَسِعَ
- He has encompassed
- kulla
- كُلَّ
- all
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- things
- ʿil'man
- عِلْمًا
- (in) knowledge
Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." (QS. [20] Taha: 98)Tafsir
كَذٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ اَنْۢبَاۤءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَۚ وَقَدْ اٰتَيْنٰكَ مِنْ لَّدُنَّا ذِكْرًا ۚ ٩٩
- kadhālika
- كَذَٰلِكَ
- Thus
- naquṣṣu
- نَقُصُّ
- We relate
- ʿalayka
- عَلَيْكَ
- to you
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- anbāi
- أَنۢبَآءِ
- (the) news
- mā
- مَا
- (of) what
- qad
- قَدْ
- has preceded
- sabaqa
- سَبَقَۚ
- has preceded
- waqad
- وَقَدْ
- And certainly
- ātaynāka
- ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ
- We have given you
- min
- مِن
- from
- ladunnā
- لَّدُنَّا
- Us
- dhik'ran
- ذِكْرًا
- a Reminder
Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us a message [i.e., the Quran]. (QS. [20] Taha: 99)Tafsir
مَنْ اَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَاِنَّهٗ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ وِزْرًا ١٠٠
- man
- مَّنْ
- Whoever
- aʿraḍa
- أَعْرَضَ
- turns away
- ʿanhu
- عَنْهُ
- from it
- fa-innahu
- فَإِنَّهُۥ
- then indeed he
- yaḥmilu
- يَحْمِلُ
- will bear
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (on the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) Resurrection
- wiz'ran
- وِزْرًا
- a burden
Whoever turns away from it – then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden [i.e., great sin], (QS. [20] Taha: 100)Tafsir
