Qaala famaa khatbuka yaa Saamiriyy(QS. Ṭāʾ Hāʾ:95)
English / Sahih Translation:
[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" (QS. Taha, ayah 95)
He (Mūsā) said, “What then is your case, O Sāmiriyy?”
Moses then asked, “What did you think you were doing, O Sâmiri?”
Moses said, “What is the matter with you, O Sāmiri?”
Moses said, 'And thou, Samaritan, what was thy business?'
Moses said, ‘And what was the matter with you, Samiri?’
Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri?
(Moses) said; "What then is thy case, O Samiri?"
Moses said: "What, then, is your case, O Samiri?"
Moses asked: "O Sameri, what was the matter?"
Said Moosa, “And what is your explanation, O Samri?”
He said, ‘What is your business, O Samiri?’
(Moses turned to the Samiri and) said: "What is the matter with you, O Samiri, (that you did such a monstrous thing)?"
(Moses now called upon Sâmirî to account for it and) said, `What were you after (by acting as you did) O Sâmirî?´
He said: "So what (is) your concern/matter you Samerey/Elsamerey ?"
Said Moosa, "And what is your explanation, O Samri?"
Said he, "O son of my mother! Seize me not by my beard, or my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say, ´You have made a division amongst the children of Israel, and have not waited for my word.´"
[Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)"
He said: O son of my mother, seize me not by my beard, nor by my head. Surely I was afraid lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel and not waited for my word.
He said: What was then your object, O Samiri?
(Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri?
Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?"
'You, Samaritan' said he (Moses), 'what was your business'
(Musa) said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri"
Moses said, "What was the matter with you, Samiri?"
He said, “What do you have to say, O Samarian?”
He said, `And what have you to say, what was the motive for [doing] what you did, O Samaritan?'
How As-Samiri made the Calf
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَا سَامِرِيُّ
(Musa) said;"And what is the matter with you. O Samiri!"
Musa said to As-Samiri, "What caused you to do what you did What presented such an idea to you causing you to do this!"
Muhammad bin Ishaq reported from Ibn Abbas that he said,
"As-Samiri was a man from the people of Bajarma, a people who worshipped cows. He still had the love of cow worshipping in his soul. However, he acted as though he had accepted Islam with the Children of Israel. His name was Musa bin Zafar."
"He was from the village of Samarra.
