بَلٰى مَنْ كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةً وَّاَحَاطَتْ بِهٖ خَطِيْۤـَٔتُهٗ فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ النَّارِ ۚ هُمْ فِيْهَا خٰلِدُوْنَ ٨١
- balā
- بَلَىٰ
- Yes
- man
- مَن
- whoever
- kasaba
- كَسَبَ
- earned
- sayyi-atan
- سَيِّئَةً
- evil
- wa-aḥāṭat
- وَأَحَٰطَتْ
- and surrounded him
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- with
- khaṭīatuhu
- خَطِيٓـَٔتُهُۥ
- his sins
- fa-ulāika
- فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- [so] those
- aṣḥābu
- أَصْحَٰبُ
- (are the) companions
- l-nāri
- ٱلنَّارِۖ
- (of) the Fire
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- khālidūna
- خَٰلِدُونَ
- (will) abide forever
Yes, [on the contrary], whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 81)Tafsir
وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ الْجَنَّةِ ۚ هُمْ فِيْهَا خٰلِدُوْنَ ࣖ ٨٢
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- And those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believed
- waʿamilū
- وَعَمِلُوا۟
- and did
- l-ṣāliḥāti
- ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
- righteous deeds
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- those
- aṣḥābu
- أَصْحَٰبُ
- (are the) companions
- l-janati
- ٱلْجَنَّةِۖ
- (of) Paradise;
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- khālidūna
- خَٰلِدُونَ
- (will) abide forever
But they who believe and do righteous deeds – those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 82)Tafsir
وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ لَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَانًا وَّذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتٰمٰى وَالْمَسٰكِيْنِ وَقُوْلُوْا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا وَّاَقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۗ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا مِّنْكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ ٨٣
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- akhadhnā
- أَخَذْنَا
- We took
- mīthāqa
- مِيثَٰقَ
- (the) covenant
- banī
- بَنِىٓ
- (from the) Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel
- lā
- لَا
- "Not
- taʿbudūna
- تَعْبُدُونَ
- you will worship
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- wabil-wālidayni
- وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ
- and with [the] parents
- iḥ'sānan
- إِحْسَانًا
- (be) good
- wadhī
- وَذِى
- and (with)
- l-qur'bā
- ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
- relatives
- wal-yatāmā
- وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
- and [the] orphans
- wal-masākīni
- وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ
- and the needy
- waqūlū
- وَقُولُوا۟
- and speak
- lilnnāsi
- لِلنَّاسِ
- to [the] people
- ḥus'nan
- حُسْنًا
- good
- wa-aqīmū
- وَأَقِيمُوا۟
- and establish
- l-ṣalata
- ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
- the prayer
- waātū
- وَءَاتُوا۟
- and give
- l-zakata
- ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
- the zakah
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- tawallaytum
- تَوَلَّيْتُمْ
- you turned away
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a few
- minkum
- مِّنكُمْ
- of you
- wa-antum
- وَأَنتُم
- and you (were)
- muʿ'riḍūna
- مُّعْرِضُونَ
- refusing
And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give Zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 83)Tafsir
وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَكُمْ لَا تَسْفِكُوْنَ دِمَاۤءَكُمْ وَلَا تُخْرِجُوْنَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ مِّنْ دِيَارِكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ اَقْرَرْتُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ تَشْهَدُوْنَ ٨٤
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- akhadhnā
- أَخَذْنَا
- We took
- mīthāqakum
- مِيثَٰقَكُمْ
- your covenant
- lā
- لَا
- "Not
- tasfikūna
- تَسْفِكُونَ
- will you shed
- dimāakum
- دِمَآءَكُمْ
- your blood
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- tukh'rijūna
- تُخْرِجُونَ
- (will) evict
- anfusakum
- أَنفُسَكُم
- yourselves
- min
- مِّن
- from
- diyārikum
- دِيَٰرِكُمْ
- your homes"
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- aqrartum
- أَقْرَرْتُمْ
- you ratified
- wa-antum
- وَأَنتُمْ
- while you
- tashhadūna
- تَشْهَدُونَ
- (were) witnessing
And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], "Do not shed your [i.e., each other's] blood or evict one another from your homes." Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 84)Tafsir
ثُمَّ اَنْتُمْ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ تَقْتُلُوْنَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتُخْرِجُوْنَ فَرِيْقًا مِّنْكُمْ مِّنْ دِيَارِهِمْۖ تَظٰهَرُوْنَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالْاِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِۗ وَاِنْ يَّأْتُوْكُمْ اُسٰرٰى تُفٰدُوْهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ اِخْرَاجُهُمْ ۗ اَفَتُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِبَعْضِ الْكِتٰبِ وَتَكْفُرُوْنَ بِبَعْضٍۚ فَمَا جَزَاۤءُ مَنْ يَّفْعَلُ ذٰلِكَ مِنْكُمْ اِلَّا خِزْيٌ فِى الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚوَيَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلٰٓى اَشَدِّ الْعَذَابِۗ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ ٨٥
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- antum
- أَنتُمْ
- you
- hāulāi
- هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
- (are) those
- taqtulūna
- تَقْتُلُونَ
- (who) kill
- anfusakum
- أَنفُسَكُمْ
- yourselves
- watukh'rijūna
- وَتُخْرِجُونَ
- and evict
- farīqan
- فَرِيقًا
- a party
- minkum
- مِّنكُم
- of you
- min
- مِّن
- from
- diyārihim
- دِيَٰرِهِمْ
- their homes
- taẓāharūna
- تَظَٰهَرُونَ
- you support one another
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِم
- against them
- bil-ith'mi
- بِٱلْإِثْمِ
- in sin
- wal-ʿud'wāni
- وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ
- and [the] transgression
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- And if
- yatūkum
- يَأْتُوكُمْ
- they come to you
- usārā
- أُسَٰرَىٰ
- (as) captives
- tufādūhum
- تُفَٰدُوهُمْ
- you ransom them
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- while it
- muḥarramun
- مُحَرَّمٌ
- (was) forbidden
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- to you
- ikh'rājuhum
- إِخْرَاجُهُمْۚ
- their eviction
- afatu'minūna
- أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ
- So do you believe
- bibaʿḍi
- بِبَعْضِ
- in part (of)
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- the Book
- watakfurūna
- وَتَكْفُرُونَ
- and disbelieve
- bibaʿḍin
- بِبَعْضٍۚ
- in part?
- famā
- فَمَا
- Then what
- jazāu
- جَزَآءُ
- (should be the) recompense
- man
- مَن
- (for the one) who
- yafʿalu
- يَفْعَلُ
- does
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- that
- minkum
- مِنكُمْ
- among you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- khiz'yun
- خِزْىٌ
- disgrace
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ḥayati
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
- the life
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
- (of) the world
- wayawma
- وَيَوْمَ
- and (on the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- of [the] Resurrection
- yuraddūna
- يُرَدُّونَ
- they will be sent back
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- to
- ashaddi
- أَشَدِّ
- (the) most severe
- l-ʿadhābi
- ٱلْعَذَابِۗ
- punishment?
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (is) Allah
- bighāfilin
- بِغَٰفِلٍ
- unaware
- ʿammā
- عَمَّا
- of what
- taʿmalūna
- تَعْمَلُونَ
- you do
Then, you are those [same ones who are] killing one another and evicting a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 85)Tafsir
اُولٰۤىِٕكَ الَّذِيْنَ اشْتَرَوُا الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا بِالْاٰخِرَةِ ۖ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُوْنَ ࣖ ٨٦
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (are) the ones who
- ish'tarawū
- ٱشْتَرَوُا۟
- bought
- l-ḥayata
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
- the life
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- (of) the world
- bil-ākhirati
- بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِۖ
- for the Hereafter;
- falā
- فَلَا
- so not
- yukhaffafu
- يُخَفَّفُ
- will be lightened
- ʿanhumu
- عَنْهُمُ
- for them
- l-ʿadhābu
- ٱلْعَذَابُ
- the punishment
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yunṣarūna
- يُنصَرُونَ
- will be helped
Those are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 86)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوْسَى الْكِتٰبَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖ بِالرُّسُلِ ۖ وَاٰتَيْنَا عِيْسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنٰتِ وَاَيَّدْنٰهُ بِرُوْحِ الْقُدُسِۗ اَفَكُلَّمَا جَاۤءَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوٰىٓ اَنْفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ ۚ فَفَرِيْقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيْقًا تَقْتُلُوْنَ ٨٧
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And indeed
- ātaynā
- ءَاتَيْنَا
- We gave
- mūsā
- مُوسَى
- Musa
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
- the Book
- waqaffaynā
- وَقَفَّيْنَا
- and We followed up
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdihi
- بَعْدِهِۦ
- after him
- bil-rusuli
- بِٱلرُّسُلِۖ
- with [the] Messengers
- waātaynā
- وَءَاتَيْنَا
- And We gave
- ʿīsā
- عِيسَى
- Isa
- ib'na
- ٱبْنَ
- (the) son
- maryama
- مَرْيَمَ
- (of) Maryam
- l-bayināti
- ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ
- [the] clear signs
- wa-ayyadnāhu
- وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ
- and We supported him
- birūḥi
- بِرُوحِ
- (with)
- l-qudusi
- ٱلْقُدُسِۗ
- the Holy Spirit
- afakullamā
- أَفَكُلَّمَا
- Is it (not) so (that) whenever
- jāakum
- جَآءَكُمْ
- came to you
- rasūlun
- رَسُولٌۢ
- a Messenger
- bimā
- بِمَا
- with what
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- tahwā
- تَهْوَىٰٓ
- desire
- anfusukumu
- أَنفُسُكُمُ
- yourselves
- is'takbartum
- ٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ
- you acted arrogantly?
- fafarīqan
- فَفَرِيقًا
- So a party
- kadhabtum
- كَذَّبْتُمْ
- you denied
- wafarīqan
- وَفَرِيقًا
- and a party
- taqtulūna
- تَقْتُلُونَ
- you kill(ed)
And We did certainly give Moses the Scripture [i.e., the Torah] and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel]. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 87)Tafsir
وَقَالُوْا قُلُوْبُنَا غُلْفٌ ۗ بَلْ لَّعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَقَلِيْلًا مَّا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ ٨٨
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they said
- qulūbunā
- قُلُوبُنَا
- "Our hearts
- ghul'fun
- غُلْفٌۢۚ
- (are) wrapped"
- bal
- بَل
- Nay
- laʿanahumu
- لَّعَنَهُمُ
- has cursed them
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- bikuf'rihim
- بِكُفْرِهِمْ
- for their disbelief
- faqalīlan
- فَقَلِيلًا
- so little
- mā
- مَّا
- (is) what
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- they believe
And they said, "Our hearts are wrapped." But, [in fact], Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is it that they believe. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 88)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمْ كِتٰبٌ مِّنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْۙ وَكَانُوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُوْنَ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْاۚ فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمْ مَّا عَرَفُوْا كَفَرُوْا بِهٖ ۖ فَلَعْنَةُ اللّٰهِ عَلَى الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٨٩
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُمْ
- came to them
- kitābun
- كِتَٰبٌ
- a Book
- min
- مِّنْ
- of
- ʿindi
- عِندِ
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- muṣaddiqun
- مُصَدِّقٌ
- confirming
- limā
- لِّمَا
- what (was)
- maʿahum
- مَعَهُمْ
- with them
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- though they used to
- min
- مِن
- from
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- yastaftiḥūna
- يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ
- (that), pray for victory
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- over
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieved
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- then when
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُم
- came to them
- mā
- مَّا
- what
- ʿarafū
- عَرَفُوا۟
- they recognized
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- they disbelieved
- bihi
- بِهِۦۚ
- in it
- falaʿnatu
- فَلَعْنَةُ
- So (the) curse
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- (is) on
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelievers
And when there came to them a Book [i.e., the Quran] from Allah confirming that which was with them – although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved – but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 89)Tafsir
بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْا بِهٖٓ اَنْفُسَهُمْ اَنْ يَّكْفُرُوْا بِمَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ بَغْيًا اَنْ يُّنَزِّلَ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ عَلٰى مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ ۚ فَبَاۤءُوْ بِغَضَبٍ عَلٰى غَضَبٍۗ وَلِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيْنٌ ٩٠
- bi'samā
- بِئْسَمَا
- Evil (is) that
- ish'taraw
- ٱشْتَرَوْا۟
- (for) which they have sold
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- with
- anfusahum
- أَنفُسَهُمْ
- themselves
- an
- أَن
- that
- yakfurū
- يَكْفُرُوا۟
- they disbelieve
- bimā
- بِمَآ
- in what
- anzala
- أَنزَلَ
- has revealed
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- baghyan
- بَغْيًا
- grudging
- an
- أَن
- that
- yunazzila
- يُنَزِّلَ
- sends down
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- min
- مِن
- of
- faḍlihi
- فَضْلِهِۦ
- His Grace
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ʿibādihi
- عِبَادِهِۦۖ
- His servants
- fabāū
- فَبَآءُو
- So they have drawn (on themselves)
- bighaḍabin
- بِغَضَبٍ
- wrath
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- upon
- ghaḍabin
- غَضَبٍۚ
- wrath
- walil'kāfirīna
- وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- And for the disbelievers
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- muhīnun
- مُّهِينٌ
- humiliating
How wretched is that for which they sold themselves – that they would disbelieve in what Allah has revealed through [their] outrage that Allah would send down His favor upon whom He wills from among His servants. So they returned having [earned] wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 90)Tafsir
