(The Cow)

151

كَمَآ اَرْسَلْنَا فِيْكُمْ رَسُوْلًا مِّنْكُمْ يَتْلُوْا عَلَيْكُمْ اٰيٰتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيْكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمْ مَّا لَمْ تَكُوْنُوْا تَعْلَمُوْنَۗ ١٥١

kamā
كَمَآ
As
arsalnā
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
fīkum
فِيكُمْ
among you
rasūlan
رَسُولًا
a Messenger
minkum
مِّنكُمْ
from you
yatlū
يَتْلُوا۟
(who) recites
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
to you
āyātinā
ءَايَٰتِنَا
Our verses
wayuzakkīkum
وَيُزَكِّيكُمْ
and purifies you
wayuʿallimukumu
وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ
and teaches you
l-kitāba
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
wal-ḥik'mata
وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ
and the wisdom
wayuʿallimukum
وَيُعَلِّمُكُم
and teaches you
مَّا
what
lam
لَمْ
not
takūnū
تَكُونُوا۟
you were
taʿlamūna
تَعْلَمُونَ
knowing
Just as We have sent among you a messenger from yourselves reciting to you Our verses and purifying you and teaching you the Book and wisdom and teaching you that which you did not know. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 151)
Tafsir
152

فَاذْكُرُوْنِيْٓ اَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوْا لِيْ وَلَا تَكْفُرُوْنِ ࣖ ١٥٢

fa-udh'kurūnī
فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓ
So remember Me
adhkur'kum
أَذْكُرْكُمْ
I will remember you
wa-ush'kurū
وَٱشْكُرُوا۟
and be grateful
لِى
to Me
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
takfurūni
تَكْفُرُونِ
(be) ungrateful to Me
So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 152)
Tafsir
153

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اسْتَعِيْنُوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلٰوةِ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِيْنَ ١٥٣

yāayyuhā
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe[d]!
is'taʿīnū
ٱسْتَعِينُوا۟
Seek help
bil-ṣabri
بِٱلصَّبْرِ
through patience
wal-ṣalati
وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ
and the prayer
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
maʿa
مَعَ
(is) with
l-ṣābirīna
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
the patient ones
O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 153)
Tafsir
154

وَلَا تَقُوْلُوْا لِمَنْ يُّقْتَلُ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ اَمْوَاتٌ ۗ بَلْ اَحْيَاۤءٌ وَّلٰكِنْ لَّا تَشْعُرُوْنَ ١٥٤

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
taqūlū
تَقُولُوا۟
say
liman
لِمَن
for (the ones) who
yuq'talu
يُقْتَلُ
are slain
فِى
in
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
amwātun
أَمْوَٰتٌۢۚ
"(They are) dead
bal
بَلْ
Nay
aḥyāon
أَحْيَآءٌ
(they are) alive
walākin
وَلَٰكِن
[and] but
لَّا
you (do) not
tashʿurūna
تَشْعُرُونَ
perceive
And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 154)
Tafsir
155

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوْعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْوَالِ وَالْاَنْفُسِ وَالثَّمَرٰتِۗ وَبَشِّرِ الصّٰبِرِيْنَ ١٥٥

walanabluwannakum
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُم
And surely We will test you
bishayin
بِشَىْءٍ
with something
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-khawfi
ٱلْخَوْفِ
[the] fear
wal-jūʿi
وَٱلْجُوعِ
and [the] hunger
wanaqṣin
وَنَقْصٍ
and loss
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-amwāli
ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ
[the] wealth
wal-anfusi
وَٱلْأَنفُسِ
and [the] lives
wal-thamarāti
وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ
and [the] fruits
wabashiri
وَبَشِّرِ
but give good news
l-ṣābirīna
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
(to) the patient ones
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 155)
Tafsir
156

اَلَّذِيْنَ اِذَآ اَصَابَتْهُمْ مُّصِيْبَةٌ ۗ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا لِلّٰهِ وَاِنَّآ اِلَيْهِ رٰجِعُوْنَۗ ١٥٦

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
idhā
إِذَآ
when
aṣābathum
أَصَٰبَتْهُم
strikes them
muṣībatun
مُّصِيبَةٌ
a misfortune
qālū
قَالُوٓا۟
they say
innā
إِنَّا
"Indeed, we
lillahi
لِلَّهِ
belong to Allah
wa-innā
وَإِنَّآ
and indeed we
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
towards Him
rājiʿūna
رَٰجِعُونَ
will return"
Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 156)
Tafsir
157

اُولٰۤىِٕكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوٰتٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ ۗوَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُهْتَدُوْنَ ١٥٧

ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
on them
ṣalawātun
صَلَوَٰتٌ
(are) blessings
min
مِّن
from
rabbihim
رَّبِّهِمْ
their Lord
waraḥmatun
وَرَحْمَةٌۖ
and Mercy
wa-ulāika
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
And those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-muh'tadūna
ٱلْمُهْتَدُونَ
(are) the guided ones
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 157)
Tafsir
158

۞ اِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَاۤىِٕرِ اللّٰهِ ۚ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ اَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ اَنْ يَّطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا ۗ وَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًاۙ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيْمٌ ١٥٨

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-ṣafā
ٱلصَّفَا
the Safa
wal-marwata
وَٱلْمَرْوَةَ
and the Marwah
min
مِن
(are) from
shaʿāiri
شَعَآئِرِ
(the) symbols
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۖ
(of) Allah
faman
فَمَنْ
So whoever
ḥajja
حَجَّ
performs Hajj
l-bayta
ٱلْبَيْتَ
(of) the House
awi
أَوِ
or
iʿ'tamara
ٱعْتَمَرَ
performs Umrah
falā
فَلَا
so no
junāḥa
جُنَاحَ
blame
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on him
an
أَن
that
yaṭṭawwafa
يَطَّوَّفَ
he walks
bihimā
بِهِمَاۚ
between [both of] them
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
taṭawwaʿa
تَطَوَّعَ
voluntarily does
khayran
خَيْرًا
good
fa-inna
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
shākirun
شَاكِرٌ
(is) All-Appreciative
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knowing
Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes Hajj [pilgrimage] to the House or performs Umrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, Allah is Appreciative and Knowing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 158)
Tafsir
159

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَكْتُمُوْنَ مَآ اَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنٰتِ وَالْهُدٰى مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنّٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ فِى الْكِتٰبِۙ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللّٰعِنُوْنَۙ ١٥٩

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yaktumūna
يَكْتُمُونَ
conceal
مَآ
what
anzalnā
أَنزَلْنَا
We revealed
mina
مِنَ
of
l-bayināti
ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ
the clear proofs
wal-hudā
وَٱلْهُدَىٰ
and the Guidance
min
مِنۢ
from
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
مَا
[what]
bayyannāhu
بَيَّنَّٰهُ
We made clear
lilnnāsi
لِلنَّاسِ
to the people
فِى
in
l-kitābi
ٱلْكِتَٰبِۙ
the Book
ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
those
yalʿanuhumu
يَلْعَنُهُمُ
curses them
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
wayalʿanuhumu
وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ
and curse them
l-lāʿinūna
ٱللَّٰعِنُونَ
the ones who curse
Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture – those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse, (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 159)
Tafsir
160

اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ تَابُوْا وَاَصْلَحُوْا وَبَيَّنُوْا فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ اَتُوْبُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَاَنَا التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ ١٦٠

illā
إِلَّا
Except
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
tābū
تَابُوا۟
who repent[ed]
wa-aṣlaḥū
وَأَصْلَحُوا۟
and reform[ed]
wabayyanū
وَبَيَّنُوا۟
and openly declar[ed]
fa-ulāika
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Then those
atūbu
أَتُوبُ
I will accept repentance
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْۚ
from them
wa-anā
وَأَنَا
and I (am)
l-tawābu
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
the Acceptor of Repentance
l-raḥīmu
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those – I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 160)
