Yunus [10]: 52 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

ثُمَّ قِيْلَ لِلَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا ذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِۚ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْسِبُوْنَ (يونس : ١٠)

Transliteration:

Summa qeela lillazeena zalamoo zooqoo 'azaabal khuld hal tujzawna illaa bimaa kuntum taksiboon (QS. al-Yūnus:52)

English / Sahih Translation:

Then it will be said to those who had wronged, "Taste the punishment of eternity; are you being recompensed except for what you used to earn?" (QS. Yunus, ayah 52)

Then it will be said to the unjust, “Taste the punishment lasting for ever. You shall not be punished except for what you have been earning.”

Then the wrongdoers will be told, “Taste the torment of eternity! Are you not rewarded except for what you used to commit?”

"At length will be said to the wrong-doers; 'Taste ye the enduring punishment! ye get but the recompense of what ye earned!'"

The wrong-doers will then be told: 'Suffer now the abiding chastisement. How else can you be rewarded except according to your deeds?'

Then will the sinners be told: "Now taste everlasting torment. Should you be rewarded for anything else but what you did?"

Then the unjust will be told, “Taste the punishment forever; and you will be repaid only what you used to earn.”

At that time it will be said to the wrong doers, `Suffer the abiding punishment. You are only repaid (with punishment) for those actions of yours that you deliberately committed.´

English Literal

Then (it) was said to those who caused injustice/oppression: "Taste/experience the immortality`s/eternity`s torture,139are you being reimbursed except because (of) what you were gathering/acquiring ?

Then the evil-doers will be told, "Taste the everlasting punishment. Have you not been rewarded according to your deeds?"

Then it will be said to those who did wrong, “Taste the torment of eternity. Will you be rewarded except for what you used to do?”

Tafsir jalalayn

Then will it be said to those who were evildoers; `Taste the everlasting chastisement!, that is, the one in which you shall abide. Are you, you are not, requited for anything but, the requital of, what you used to earn?'

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِ


Then it will be said to them who wronged themselves;"Taste you the everlasting torment!"

This will be said to them on the Day of Resurrection, blaming and rebuking them. As Allah said in another Ayah;

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

هَـذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـذَا أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُواْ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُواْ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. This is the Fire that you used to belie. Is this magic or do you not see Taste you therein its heat and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. (52;13-16)

هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ



Are you recompensed (aught) save what you used to earn!
