Al-Qur'an Surah Al-'Alaq Verse 7
Al-'Alaq [96]: 7 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَنْ رَّاٰهُ اسْتَغْنٰىۗ (العلق : ٩٦)

- رَّءَاهُ
- he sees himself
- is'taghnā
- ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
- self-sufficient
Transliteration:
Ar-ra aahus taghnaa(QS. al-ʿAlaq̈:7)
English / Sahih Translation:
Because he sees himself self-sufficient. (QS. Al-'Alaq, ayah 7)

Tafsir jalalayn
when he sees it, that is to say, his own soul, to be self-sufficient, in terms of wealth -- this was revealed regarding Ab Jahl (ra', `sees', means [to see] mentally; istaghn, `self-sufficient', is the second direct object; an ra'hu, `when he sees it', is an object denoting reason).
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Nay! Verily, man does transgress.
Because he considers himself self-sufficient.
The Threat against Man's Transgression for the sake of Wealth
Allah informs that man is very pleased, most evil, scornful and transgressive when he considers himself self-sufficient and having an abundance of wealth. Then Allah threatens, warns and admonishes him in His saying,
إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى
