Al-Qur'an Surah Ad-Duhaa Verse 9
Ad-Duhaa [93]: 9 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَاَمَّا الْيَتِيْمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْۗ (الضحى : ٩٣)
- fa-ammā
- فَأَمَّا
- So as for
- l-yatīma
- ٱلْيَتِيمَ
- the orphan
- falā
- فَلَا
- then (do) not
- taqhar
- تَقْهَرْ
- oppress
Transliteration:
Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar(QS. aḍ-Ḍuḥā:9)
English / Sahih Translation:
So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. (QS. Ad-Duhaa, ayah 9)

So, as for the orphan, do not oppress [him], by appropriating his wealth or otherwise,

Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression.
meaning,
`just as you were an orphan and Allah sheltered you, then do not oppress the orphan.'
In other words,
`do not humiliate him, scorn him or despise him. Rather, you should be kind and gentle to him.'
Qatadah said,
"Be like a merciful father to the orphan."
وَأَمَّا السَّايِلَ فَلَأ تَنْهَرْ
