Ash-Shams [91]: 1 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحٰىهَاۖ (الشمس : ٩١)

wal-shamsi
وَٱلشَّمْسِ
By the sun
waḍuḥāhā
وَضُحَىٰهَا
and its brightness

Transliteration:

Wash shamsi wa duhaa haa (QS. aš-Šams:1)

English / Sahih Translation:

By the sun and its brightness (QS. Ash-Shams, ayah 1)

Tafsir jalalayn

By the sun and her morning light,

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Allah swears by His Creation that the Person Who purifies Himself will be Successful and the Person Who corrupts Himself will fail

وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا




By the sun and Duhaha.

Mujahid said, "This means, by its light."

Qatadah said,
وَضُحَـهَا
wa Duhaha. "The whole day."

Ibn Jarir said,

"The correct view is what has been said, `Allah swears by the sun and its daytime, because the clear light of the sun is daytime."'

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا
