لَآ اُقْسِمُ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِۙ ١
- lā
- لَآ
- Nay!
- uq'simu
- أُقْسِمُ
- I swear
- bihādhā
- بِهَٰذَا
- by this
- l-baladi
- ٱلْبَلَدِ
- city
I swear by this city [i.e., Makkah] (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 1)Tafsir
2
وَاَنْتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِۙ ٢
- wa-anta
- وَأَنتَ
- And you
- ḥillun
- حِلٌّۢ
- (are) free (to dwell)
- bihādhā
- بِهَٰذَا
- in this
- l-baladi
- ٱلْبَلَدِ
- city
And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city. (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 2)Tafsir
3
وَوَالِدٍ وَّمَا وَلَدَۙ ٣
- wawālidin
- وَوَالِدٍ
- And the begetter
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- walada
- وَلَدَ
- he begot
And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 3)Tafsir
4
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ فِيْ كَبَدٍۗ ٤
- laqad
- لَقَدْ
- Certainly
- khalaqnā
- خَلَقْنَا
- We have created
- l-insāna
- ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ
- man
- fī
- فِى
- (to be) in
- kabadin
- كَبَدٍ
- hardship
We have certainly created man into hardship. (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 4)Tafsir
5
اَيَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّنْ يَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ اَحَدٌ ۘ ٥
- ayaḥsabu
- أَيَحْسَبُ
- Does he think
- an
- أَن
- that
- lan
- لَّن
- not
- yaqdira
- يَقْدِرَ
- has power
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- over him
- aḥadun
- أَحَدٌ
- anyone?
Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 5)Tafsir
6
يَقُوْلُ اَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًاۗ ٦
- yaqūlu
- يَقُولُ
- He will say
- ahlaktu
- أَهْلَكْتُ
- "I have squandered
- mālan
- مَالًا
- wealth
- lubadan
- لُّبَدًا
- abundant"
He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 6)Tafsir
7
اَيَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّمْ يَرَهٗٓ اَحَدٌۗ ٧
- ayaḥsabu
- أَيَحْسَبُ
- Does he think
- an
- أَن
- that
- lam
- لَّمْ
- not
- yarahu
- يَرَهُۥٓ
- sees him
- aḥadun
- أَحَدٌ
- anyone?
Does he think that no one has seen him? (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 7)Tafsir
8
اَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ عَيْنَيْنِۙ ٨
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- Have not
- najʿal
- نَجْعَل
- We made
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- for him
- ʿaynayni
- عَيْنَيْنِ
- two eyes?
Have We not made for him two eyes? (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 8)Tafsir
9
وَلِسَانًا وَّشَفَتَيْنِۙ ٩
- walisānan
- وَلِسَانًا
- And a tongue
- washafatayni
- وَشَفَتَيْنِ
- and two lips?
And a tongue and two lips? (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 9)Tafsir
10
وَهَدَيْنٰهُ النَّجْدَيْنِۙ ١٠
- wahadaynāhu
- وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ
- And shown him
- l-najdayni
- ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
- the two ways?
And have shown him the two ways? (QS. [90] Al-Balad: 10)Tafsir
