(The Dawn)

bismillaahirrahmaanirrahiim
1

وَالْفَجْرِۙ ١

wal-fajri
وَٱلْفَجْرِ
By the dawn
By the dawn (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 1)
Tafsir
2

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۙ ٢

walayālin
وَلَيَالٍ
And the nights
ʿashrin
عَشْرٍ
ten
And [by] ten nights (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 2)

وَّالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِۙ ٣

wal-shafʿi
وَٱلشَّفْعِ
And the even
wal-watri
وَٱلْوَتْرِ
and the odd
And [by] the even [number] and the odd (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 3)
Tafsir
4

وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا يَسْرِۚ ٤

wa-al-layli
وَٱلَّيْلِ
And the night
idhā
إِذَا
when
yasri
يَسْرِ
it passes
And [by] the night when it passes, (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 4)

هَلْ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِيْ حِجْرٍۗ ٥

hal
هَلْ
Is
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
qasamun
قَسَمٌ
an oath
lidhī
لِّذِى
for those
ḥij'rin
حِجْرٍ
who understand?
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 5)

اَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍۖ ٦

alam
أَلَمْ
Do not
tara
تَرَ
you see
kayfa
كَيْفَ
how
faʿala
فَعَلَ
dealt
rabbuka
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
biʿādin
بِعَادٍ
with Aad
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Aad . (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 6)

اِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِۖ ٧

irama
إِرَمَ
Iram
dhāti
ذَاتِ
possessors (of)
l-ʿimādi
ٱلْعِمَادِ
lofty pillars
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 7)

الَّتِيْ لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى الْبِلَادِۖ ٨

allatī
ٱلَّتِى
Which
lam
لَمْ
not
yukh'laq
يُخْلَقْ
had been created
mith'luhā
مِثْلُهَا
like them
فِى
in
l-bilādi
ٱلْبِلَٰدِ
the cities
The likes of whom had never been created in the land? (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 8)

وَثَمُوْدَ الَّذِيْنَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِۖ ٩

wathamūda
وَثَمُودَ
And Thamud
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
jābū
جَابُوا۟
carved out
l-ṣakhra
ٱلصَّخْرَ
the rocks
bil-wādi
بِٱلْوَادِ
in the valley
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 9)

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى الْاَوْتَادِۖ ١٠

wafir'ʿawna
وَفِرْعَوْنَ
And Firaun
dhī
ذِى
owner of
l-awtādi
ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
stakes?
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? (QS. [89] Al-Fajr: 10)
