Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Inshiqaq Verse 17

Al-Inshiqaq [84]: 17 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَۙ (الإنشقاق : ٨٤)

wa-al-layli
وَٱلَّيْلِ
And the night
wamā
وَمَا
and what
wasaqa
وَسَقَ
it envelops

Transliteration:

Wallaili wa maa wasaq (QS. al-ʾInšiq̈āq̈:17)

English / Sahih Translation:

And [by] the night and what it envelops (QS. Al-Inshiqaq, ayah 17)

Tafsir jalalayn

and [by] the night and what it envelops, [what] it brings together of creatures and otherwise that have entered into it,

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And by the night and what it Wasaqa,

Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Al-Hasan and Qatadah, all said that,
وَمَا وَسَقَ
and what it Wasaqa means,

"What it gathers."

Qatadah said, "The stars and animals it gathers."

Ikrimah said,

"What it drives into due to its darkness, because when it is nighttime everything goes to its home."

Concerning Allah's statement,

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ
