Al-Qur'an Surah At-Takwir Verse 6

and when the seas will be flared up,

and when the seas are set on fire,[[ On the Day of Judgment the oceans and seas will be on fire.]]

Tafsir jalalayn

and when the seas are set afire (read sujirat or sujjirat), [when] they are set alight and become [a mass of] fire;

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And when the seas become as blazing fire.

Ibn Jarir recorded from Sa`id bin Al-Musayyib that `Ali said to a Jewish man, "Where is the Hell"

The man said, "The sea."

Ali then said,

"I think he is truthful, as Allah says
وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ
And by the seas kindled (Masjur). (52;6) and;
Joining the Souls

Concerning Allah's statement,

وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ
