Surah At-Takwir - Page: 2

(The Overthrowing)

11

وَاِذَا السَّمَاۤءُ كُشِطَتْۖ ١١

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
l-samāu
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
the sky
kushiṭat
كُشِطَتْ
is stripped away
And when the sky is stripped away (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 11)
Tafsir
12

وَاِذَا الْجَحِيْمُ سُعِّرَتْۖ ١٢

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
l-jaḥīmu
ٱلْجَحِيمُ
the Hellfire
suʿʿirat
سُعِّرَتْ
is set ablaze
And when Hellfire is set ablaze (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 12)

13

وَاِذَا الْجَنَّةُ اُزْلِفَتْۖ ١٣

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
l-janatu
ٱلْجَنَّةُ
Paradise
uz'lifat
أُزْلِفَتْ
is brought near
And when Paradise is brought near, (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 13)
Tafsir
14

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ اَحْضَرَتْۗ ١٤

ʿalimat
عَلِمَتْ
Will know
nafsun
نَفْسٌ
a soul
مَّآ
what
aḥḍarat
أَحْضَرَتْ
it has brought
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 14)
Tafsir
15

فَلَآ اُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِۙ ١٥

falā
فَلَآ
But nay!
uq'simu
أُقْسِمُ
I swear
bil-khunasi
بِٱلْخُنَّسِ
by the retreating planets
So I swear by the retreating stars - (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 15)

الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِۙ ١٦

al-jawāri
ٱلْجَوَارِ
Those that run
l-kunasi
ٱلْكُنَّسِ
(and) disappear
Those that run [their courses] and disappear [i.e., set] (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 16)

وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا عَسْعَسَۙ ١٧

wa-al-layli
وَٱلَّيْلِ
And the night
idhā
إِذَا
when
ʿasʿasa
عَسْعَسَ
it departs
And by the night as it closes in (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 17)
Tafsir
18

وَالصُّبْحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ ١٨

wal-ṣub'ḥi
وَٱلصُّبْحِ
And the dawn
idhā
إِذَا
when
tanaffasa
تَنَفَّسَ
it breathes
And by the dawn when it breathes [i.e., stirs] (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 18)

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِيْمٍۙ ١٩

innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed it
laqawlu
لَقَوْلُ
(is) surely a word
rasūlin
رَسُولٍ
(of) a Messenger
karīmin
كَرِيمٍ
noble
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Quran] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel] (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 19)

ذِيْ قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِى الْعَرْشِ مَكِيْنٍۙ ٢٠

quwwatin
قُوَّةٍ
power
ʿinda
عِندَ
with

ذِى
(the) Owner of
l-ʿarshi
ٱلْعَرْشِ
the Throne
makīnin
مَكِينٍ
secure
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], (QS. [81] At-Takwir: 20)
