Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Anfal Verse 74

Al-Anfal [8]: 74 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَهَاجَرُوْا وَجَاهَدُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰوَوْا وَّنَصَرُوْٓا اُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ حَقًّاۗ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّرِزْقٌ كَرِيْمٌ (الأنفال : ٨)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believed
wahājarū
وَهَاجَرُوا۟
and emigrated
wajāhadū
وَجَٰهَدُوا۟
and strove hard
فِى
in
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
āwaw
ءَاوَوا۟
gave shelter
wanaṣarū
وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟
and helped
ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
those -
humu
هُمُ
they (are)
l-mu'minūna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
the believers
ḥaqqan
حَقًّاۚ
(in) truth
lahum
لَّهُم
For them
maghfiratun
مَّغْفِرَةٌ
(is) forgiveness
wariz'qun
وَرِزْقٌ
and a provision
karīmun
كَرِيمٌ
noble

Transliteration:

Wallazeena aamanoo wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo fee sabeelil laahi wallazeena aawaw wa nasarooo ulaaa'ika humul mu'minoona haqqaa; lahum maghfiratunw wa rizqun kareem (QS. al-ʾAnfāl:74)

English / Sahih Translation:

But those who have believed and emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah and those who gave shelter and aided – it is they who are the believers, truly. For them is forgiveness and noble provision. (QS. Al-Anfal, ayah 74)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

Those who have believed and emigrated and carried out Jihād in the way of Allah, and those who gave refuge and help, both are the believers in truth. For them there is forgiveness and a respectful provision.

Those who believed, migrated, and struggled in the cause of Allah, and those who gave ˹them˺ shelter and help, they are the true believers. They will have forgiveness and an honourable provision.

Those who have believed and emigrated (to the home of Islam) and striven (with their wealth and persons) in God’s cause, and those who give refuge (to them) and help (them) – those (illustrious ones) are the believers in truth. For them is forgiveness (to bring unforeseen blessings) and honorable, generous provision.

And those who have believed and emigrated and strove hard for the cause of Allâh, and those who have given (them) refuge and have helped, it is these indeed who are the true believers. For them is (His) protection (against sins) and an honourable provision (from Him).

English Literal

And those who believed and emigrated and struggled/exerted in God`s sake/way , and those who sheltered/gave refuge and saved/gave victory/aided, those, they are the believers truly/certainly , for them (is) a forgiveness and a generous/gracious provision.

And those who believed and migrated and fought in Allah´s cause, and those who gave shelter and provided help - it is they who are the true believers; for them is pardon, and an honourable sustenance.

Those who have believed and migrated and striven for the cause of God, as well as those who have given them refuge and support, are the true believers; they shall have forgiveness and an honourable provision.

Those who believed, and emigrated, and struggled for God’s cause, and those who gave shelter and support—these are the true believers. They will have forgiveness, and a bountiful provision.

Tafsir jalalayn

And those who believed and emigrated and strove for the way of God, and those who provided refuge and assisted -- those are the true believers, and for them is forgiveness and a generous provision, in Paradise.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Believers in Truth

Allah says;

وَالَّذِينَ امَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ اوَواْ وَّنَصَرُواْ أُولَـيِكَ هُمُ الْمُوْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ



And those who believed, and emigrated and strove hard in the cause of Allah (Al-Jihad), as well as those who gave (them) asylum and aid -- these are the believers in truth, for them is forgiveness and a generous provision.

After Allah affirmed the ruling of loyalty and protection between the believers in this life, He then mentioned their destination in the Hereafter. Allah also affirmed the faith of the believers, just as mentioned in the beginning of this Surah, and that He will reward them with forgiveness and by erasing their sins, if they have any. He also promised them honorable provisions that are abundant, pure, everlasting and eternal; provisions that never end or run out, nor will they ever cause boredom, for they are delightful and come in great varieties
