Al-Anfal [8]: 6 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

يُجَادِلُوْنَكَ فِى الْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَاَنَّمَا يُسَاقُوْنَ اِلَى الْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ ۗ (الأنفال : ٨)

yujādilūnaka
يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ
They dispute with you
فِى
concerning
l-ḥaqi
ٱلْحَقِّ
the truth
baʿdamā
بَعْدَمَا
after what
tabayyana
تَبَيَّنَ
was made clear
ka-annamā
كَأَنَّمَا
as if
yusāqūna
يُسَاقُونَ
they were driven
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-mawti
ٱلْمَوْتِ
[the] death
wahum
وَهُمْ
while they
yanẓurūna
يَنظُرُونَ
(were) looking

Transliteration:

Yujaadiloonaka fil haqqi ba'da maa tabaiyana kaannamaa yasaaqoona ilal mawti wa hum uanzuroon (QS. al-ʾAnfāl:6)

English / Sahih Translation:

Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on. (QS. Al-Anfal, ayah 6)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Disputing with you concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death, while they were looking (at it).

يُجَادِلُونَكَ فِي الْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ
(Disputing with you concerning the truth after it was made manifest), Some have commented,

"(Allah says;) they ask and argue with you about Al-Anfal just as they argued with you when you went out for the battle of Badr, saying, `You marched with us to confiscate the caravan. You did not inform us that there will be fighting and that we should prepare for it."'

وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ اللّهُ إِحْدَى الطَّايِفَتِيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ الشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ اللّهُ أَن يُحِقَّ الحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ الْكَافِرِينَ
