Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Anfal Verse 52
Al-Anfal [8]: 52 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
كَدَأْبِ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَۙ وَالَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۗ كَفَرُوْا بِاٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ فَاَخَذَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِذُنُوْبِهِمْۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيْدُ الْعِقَابِ (الأنفال : ٨)

- Like (the) way
- āli
- ءَالِ
- (of) people
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَۙ
- (of) Firaun
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who

- بِـَٔايَٰتِ
- in (the) Signs

- بِذُنُوبِهِمْۗ
- for their sins

- (and) severe

Transliteration:
Kadaabi Aali Fir'awna wal lazeena min qablihim; kafaroo bi Aayaatil laahi fa akhazahu mul laahu bizunoobihim; innal laaha qawiyyun shadeedul 'iqaab(QS. al-ʾAnfāl:52)
English / Sahih Translation:
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allah, so Allah seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and severe in penalty. (QS. Al-Anfal, ayah 52)

Tafsir jalalayn
The way of these people is, like the way of Pharaoh's folk and those before them; they disbelieved in God's signs and so God seized them, with chastisement, because of their sins (the sentence beginning with kafar, `they disbelieved', explains the previous one). Truly, God is strong, in what He wills, severe in retribution.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Allah says,
كَدَأْبِ الِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَفَرُواْ بِأيَاتِ اللّهِ
Similar to the behavior of the people of Fir`awn, and of those before them -- they rejected the Ayat of Allah,
Allah says, `The behavior of these rebellious disbelievers against what I sent you with, O Muhammad, is similar to the behavior of earlier disbelieving nations. So We behaved with them according to Our Da'b, that is, Our behavior (or custom) and way, as We did with them with what We often do and decide concerning their likes, the denying people of Fir`awn and the earlier nations who rejected the Messengers and disbelieved in Our Ayat,'
فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ
so Allah punished them for their sins.
Because of their sins, Allah destroyed them
إِنَّ اللّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Verily, Allah is All-Strong, severe in punishment.
none can resist Him or escape His grasp.
ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
