Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Anfal Verse 15
Al-Anfal [8]: 15 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِذَا لَقِيْتُمُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا زَحْفًا فَلَا تُوَلُّوْهُمُ الْاَدْبَارَۚ (الأنفال : ٨)

- O you!

- ٱلَّذِينَ
- who!

- ءَامَنُوٓا۟
- believe!
- idhā
- إِذَا
- When
- laqītumu
- لَقِيتُمُ

- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieve
- zaḥfan
- زَحْفًا
- advancing
- falā
- فَلَا
- then (do) not
- tuwallūhumu
- تُوَلُّوهُمُ
- turn to them
- l-adbāra
- ٱلْأَدْبَارَ
- the backs
Transliteration:
Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo izaa laqeetumul lazeena kafaroo zahfan falaa tuwalloohumul adbaar(QS. al-ʾAnfāl:15)
English / Sahih Translation:
O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [in battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight]. (QS. Al-Anfal, ayah 15)

Fleeing from Battle is prohibited, and its Punishment
Allah said, while warning against fleeing from the battlefield and threatening those who do it with the Fire,
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ امَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ زَحْفاً
O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve, in a battlefield,
when you get near the enemy and march towards them,
فَلَ تُوَلُّوهُمُ الَادْبَارَ
never turn your backs to them.
do not run away from battle and leave your fellow Muslims behind
