۞ وَاعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِّنْ شَيْءٍ فَاَنَّ لِلّٰهِ خُمُسَهٗ وَلِلرَّسُوْلِ وَلِذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتٰمٰى وَالْمَسٰكِيْنِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيْلِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ اٰمَنْتُمْ بِاللّٰهِ وَمَآ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلٰى عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعٰنِۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ ٤١
- wa-iʿ'lamū
- وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
- And know
- annamā
- أَنَّمَا
- that what
- ghanim'tum
- غَنِمْتُم
- you obtain (as) spoils of war
- min
- مِّن
- of
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- anything
- fa-anna
- فَأَنَّ
- then that
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- for Allah
- khumusahu
- خُمُسَهُۥ
- (is) one fifth of it
- walilrrasūli
- وَلِلرَّسُولِ
- and for the Messenger
- walidhī
- وَلِذِى
- and for the
- l-qur'bā
- ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
- near relatives
- wal-yatāmā
- وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
- and the orphans
- wal-masākīni
- وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ
- and the needy
- wa-ib'ni
- وَٱبْنِ
- and the
- l-sabīli
- ٱلسَّبِيلِ
- wayfarer
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you
- āmantum
- ءَامَنتُم
- believe
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- and (in) what
- anzalnā
- أَنزَلْنَا
- We sent down
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- ʿabdinā
- عَبْدِنَا
- Our slave
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (on the) day
- l-fur'qāni
- ٱلْفُرْقَانِ
- (of) the criterion
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (the) day
- l-taqā
- ٱلْتَقَى
- (when) met
- l-jamʿāni
- ٱلْجَمْعَانِۗ
- the two forces
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- (is) on
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- qadīrun
- قَدِيرٌ
- All-Powerful
And know that anything you obtain of war booty – then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion [i.e., decisive encounter] – the day when the two armies met [at Badr]. And Allah, over all things, is competent. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 41)Tafsir
اِذْ اَنْتُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوٰى وَالرَّكْبُ اَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْۗ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدْتُّمْ لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِى الْمِيْعٰدِۙ وَلٰكِنْ لِّيَقْضِيَ اللّٰهُ اَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُوْلًا ەۙ لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنْۢ بَيِّنَةٍ وَّيَحْيٰى مَنْ حَيَّ عَنْۢ بَيِّنَةٍۗ وَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَسَمِيْعٌ عَلِيْمٌۙ ٤٢
- idh
- إِذْ
- When
- antum
- أَنتُم
- you (were)
- bil-ʿud'wati
- بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ
- on side of the valley
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- the nearer
- wahum
- وَهُم
- and they
- bil-ʿud'wati
- بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ
- (were) on the side
- l-quṣ'wā
- ٱلْقُصْوَىٰ
- the farther
- wal-rakbu
- وَٱلرَّكْبُ
- and the caravan
- asfala
- أَسْفَلَ
- (was) lower
- minkum
- مِنكُمْۚ
- than you
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- tawāʿadttum
- تَوَاعَدتُّمْ
- you (had) made an appointment
- la-ikh'talaftum
- لَٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ
- certainly you would have failed
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-mīʿādi
- ٱلْمِيعَٰدِۙ
- the appointment
- walākin
- وَلَٰكِن
- But
- liyaqḍiya
- لِّيَقْضِىَ
- that might accomplish
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- amran
- أَمْرًا
- a matter
- kāna
- كَانَ
- (that) was
- mafʿūlan
- مَفْعُولًا
- destined
- liyahlika
- لِّيَهْلِكَ
- that (might be) destroyed
- man
- مَنْ
- (those) who
- halaka
- هَلَكَ
- (were to be) destroyed
- ʿan
- عَنۢ
- on
- bayyinatin
- بَيِّنَةٍ
- a clear evidence
- wayaḥyā
- وَيَحْيَىٰ
- and (might) live
- man
- مَنْ
- (those) who
- ḥayya
- حَىَّ
- (were to) live
- ʿan
- عَنۢ
- on
- bayyinatin
- بَيِّنَةٍۗ
- a clear evidence
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lasamīʿun
- لَسَمِيعٌ
- (is) All-Hearing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- All-Knowing
[Remember] when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined – that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence; and indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 42)Tafsir
اِذْ يُرِيْكَهُمُ اللّٰهُ فِيْ مَنَامِكَ قَلِيْلًاۗ وَلَوْ اَرٰىكَهُمْ كَثِيْرًا لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِى الْاَمْرِ وَلٰكِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَلَّمَۗ اِنَّهٗ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ ٤٣
- idh
- إِذْ
- When
- yurīkahumu
- يُرِيكَهُمُ
- you (where) shown them
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (by) Allah
- fī
- فِى
- in
- manāmika
- مَنَامِكَ
- your dream
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًاۖ
- (as) few
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- and if
- arākahum
- أَرَىٰكَهُمْ
- He had shown them to you
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- (as) many
- lafashil'tum
- لَّفَشِلْتُمْ
- surely you would have lost courage
- walatanāzaʿtum
- وَلَتَنَٰزَعْتُمْ
- and surely you would have disputed
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-amri
- ٱلْأَمْرِ
- the matter
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- but
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- sallama
- سَلَّمَۗ
- saved (you)
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed, He
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌۢ
- (is) All-Knower
- bidhāti
- بِذَاتِ
- of what is in
- l-ṣudūri
- ٱلصُّدُورِ
- the breasts
[Remember, O Muhammad], when Allah showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allah saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 43)Tafsir
وَاِذْ يُرِيْكُمُوْهُمْ اِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِيْٓ اَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيْلًا وَّيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِيْٓ اَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللّٰهُ اَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُوْلًا ۗوَاِلَى اللّٰهِ تُرْجَعُ الْاُمُوْرُ ࣖ ٤٤
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- yurīkumūhum
- يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ
- He showed them to you
- idhi
- إِذِ
- when
- l-taqaytum
- ٱلْتَقَيْتُمْ
- you met
- fī
- فِىٓ
- in
- aʿyunikum
- أَعْيُنِكُمْ
- your eyes
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- (as) few
- wayuqallilukum
- وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ
- and He made you (appear) as few
- fī
- فِىٓ
- in
- aʿyunihim
- أَعْيُنِهِمْ
- their eyes
- liyaqḍiya
- لِيَقْضِىَ
- that might accomplish
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah might accomplish
- amran
- أَمْرًا
- a matter
- kāna
- كَانَ
- (that) was
- mafʿūlan
- مَفْعُولًاۗ
- (already) destined
- wa-ilā
- وَإِلَى
- And to
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- tur'jaʿu
- تُرْجَعُ
- return
- l-umūru
- ٱلْأُمُورُ
- (all) the matters
And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allah are [all] matters returned. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 44)Tafsir
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِذَا لَقِيْتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُوْا وَاذْكُرُوا اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَۚ ٤٥
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O you!
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- who!
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوٓا۟
- believe!
- idhā
- إِذَا
- When
- laqītum
- لَقِيتُمْ
- you meet
- fi-atan
- فِئَةً
- a force
- fa-uth'butū
- فَٱثْبُتُوا۟
- then be firm
- wa-udh'kurū
- وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
- and remember
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- much
- laʿallakum
- لَّعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tuf'liḥūna
- تُفْلِحُونَ
- (be) successful
O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 45)Tafsir
وَاَطِيْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوْا فَتَفْشَلُوْا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيْحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُوْاۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِيْنَۚ ٤٦
- wa-aṭīʿū
- وَأَطِيعُوا۟
- And obey
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- warasūlahu
- وَرَسُولَهُۥ
- and His Messenger
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- tanāzaʿū
- تَنَٰزَعُوا۟
- dispute
- fatafshalū
- فَتَفْشَلُوا۟
- lest you lose courage
- watadhhaba
- وَتَذْهَبَ
- and (would) depart
- rīḥukum
- رِيحُكُمْۖ
- your strength
- wa-iṣ'birū
- وَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ۚ
- and be patient
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- (is) with
- l-ṣābirīna
- ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
- the patient ones
And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 46)Tafsir
وَلَا تَكُوْنُوْا كَالَّذِيْنَ خَرَجُوْا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ بَطَرًا وَّرِئَاۤءَ النَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗوَاللّٰهُ بِمَايَعْمَلُوْنَ مُحِيْطٌ ٤٧
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (do) not
- takūnū
- تَكُونُوا۟
- be
- ka-alladhīna
- كَٱلَّذِينَ
- like those who
- kharajū
- خَرَجُوا۟
- came forth
- min
- مِن
- from
- diyārihim
- دِيَٰرِهِم
- their homes
- baṭaran
- بَطَرًا
- boastfully
- wariāa
- وَرِئَآءَ
- and showing off
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- (to) the people
- wayaṣuddūna
- وَيَصُدُّونَ
- and hinder (them)
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) way
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- bimā
- بِمَا
- of what
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- they do
- muḥīṭun
- مُحِيطٌ
- (is) All-Encompassing
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And Allah is encompassing of what they do. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 47)Tafsir
وَاِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطٰنُ اَعْمَالَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَاِنِّيْ جَارٌ لَّكُمْۚ فَلَمَّا تَرَاۤءَتِ الْفِئَتٰنِ نَكَصَ عَلٰى عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ اِنِّيْ بَرِيْۤءٌ مِّنْكُمْ اِنِّيْٓ اَرٰى مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ اِنِّيْٓ اَخَافُ اللّٰهَ ۗوَاللّٰهُ شَدِيْدُ الْعِقَابِ ࣖ ٤٨
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- zayyana
- زَيَّنَ
- made fair-seeming
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- to them
- l-shayṭānu
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- the Shaitaan
- aʿmālahum
- أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
- their deeds
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- and he said
- lā
- لَا
- "No (one)
- ghāliba
- غَالِبَ
- (can) overcome
- lakumu
- لَكُمُ
- [to] you
- l-yawma
- ٱلْيَوْمَ
- today
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- the people
- wa-innī
- وَإِنِّى
- and indeed, I am
- jārun
- جَارٌ
- a neighbor
- lakum
- لَّكُمْۖ
- for you"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- But when
- tarāati
- تَرَآءَتِ
- came in sight
- l-fi-atāni
- ٱلْفِئَتَانِ
- the two forces
- nakaṣa
- نَكَصَ
- he turned away
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- ʿaqibayhi
- عَقِبَيْهِ
- his heels
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- and said
- innī
- إِنِّى
- "Indeed, I am
- barīon
- بَرِىٓءٌ
- free
- minkum
- مِّنكُمْ
- of you
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- Indeed, I
- arā
- أَرَىٰ
- see
- mā
- مَا
- what
- lā
- لَا
- not
- tarawna
- تَرَوْنَ
- you see
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- indeed, I
- akhāfu
- أَخَافُ
- [I] fear
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَۚ
- Allah
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- shadīdu
- شَدِيدُ
- (is) severe
- l-ʿiqābi
- ٱلْعِقَابِ
- (in) the penalty"
And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed, I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in penalty." (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 48)Tafsir
اِذْ يَقُوْلُ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَالَّذِيْنَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ غَرَّ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ دِيْنُهُمْۗ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ ٤٩
- idh
- إِذْ
- When
- yaqūlu
- يَقُولُ
- said
- l-munāfiqūna
- ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ
- the hypocrites
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who -
- fī
- فِى
- in
- qulūbihim
- قُلُوبِهِم
- their hearts
- maraḍun
- مَّرَضٌ
- (was) a disease
- gharra
- غَرَّ
- "(Had) deluded
- hāulāi
- هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
- these (people)
- dīnuhum
- دِينُهُمْۗ
- their religion"
- waman
- وَمَن
- But whoever
- yatawakkal
- يَتَوَكَّلْ
- puts (his) trust
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- in
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- ʿazīzun
- عَزِيزٌ
- (is) All-Mighty
- ḥakīmun
- حَكِيمٌ
- All-Wise"
[Remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease [i.e., arrogance and disbelief] said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]." But whoever relies upon Allah – then indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 49)Tafsir
وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ يَضْرِبُوْنَ وُجُوْهَهُمْ وَاَدْبَارَهُمْۚ وَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيْقِ ٥٠
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- tarā
- تَرَىٰٓ
- you (could) see
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- yatawaffā
- يَتَوَفَّى
- take away souls
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (of) those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟ۙ
- disbelieve
- l-malāikatu
- ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
- the Angels
- yaḍribūna
- يَضْرِبُونَ
- striking
- wujūhahum
- وُجُوهَهُمْ
- their faces
- wa-adbārahum
- وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ
- and their backs
- wadhūqū
- وَذُوقُوا۟
- "Taste
- ʿadhāba
- عَذَابَ
- (the) punishment
- l-ḥarīqi
- ٱلْحَرِيقِ
- (of) the Blazing Fire"
And if you could but see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved... They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire. (QS. [8] Al-Anfal: 50)Tafsir
