Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nazi'at Verse 18

An-Nazi'at [79]: 18 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَقُلْ هَلْ لَّكَ اِلٰٓى اَنْ تَزَكّٰىۙ (النازعات : ٧٩)

purify yourself?

Transliteration:

Faqul hal laka ilaa-an tazakka. (QS. an-Nāziʿāt:18)

English / Sahih Translation:

And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself (QS. An-Nazi'at, ayah 18)

And say (to him,) ‘Would you like to purify yourself,

Tafsir jalalayn

and say, "Would you -- I call you [to] -- purify yourself (tazakk; a variant reading has tazzakk, where the original second t' [of tatazakk] has been assimilated with the zy), to purge yourself of idolatry, by bearing witness that there is no god but God,

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And say to him;"Would you purify yourself"

meaning, say to him, "Will you respond to the path and way that will purify you"

This means, `will you submit (accept Islam) and be obedient
