Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Mursalat Verse 43

Al-Mursalat [77]: 43 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

كُلُوْا وَاشْرَبُوْا هَنِيْۤـًٔا ۢبِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ (المرسلات : ٧٧)

kulū
كُلُوا۟
"Eat
wa-ish'rabū
وَٱشْرَبُوا۟
and drink
hanīan
هَنِيٓـًٔۢا
(in) satisfaction
bimā
بِمَا
for what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
(to) do"

Transliteration:

Kuloo washraboo haneee 'am bimaa kuntum ta'maloon (QS. al-Mursalāt:43)

English / Sahih Translation:

[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (QS. Al-Mursalat, ayah 43)

It will be said to them, “Eat and drink with pleasure because of what you used to do.”

Tafsir jalalayn

`Eat and drink in [full] enjoyment (han'an is a circumstantial qualifier, in other words, mutahanni'na) for what you used to do', in the way of obedience.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do.

meaning, this will be said to them out of kindness for them. Reestablishing what He has previously mentioned,

Allah says;

إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنينَ
