Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Insan Verse 11

Al-Insan [76]: 11 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَوَقٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ شَرَّ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقّٰىهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَّسُرُوْرًاۚ (الانسان : ٧٦)

fawaqāhumu
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ
But will protect them
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
sharra
شَرَّ
(from the) evil
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
(of) that
l-yawmi
ٱلْيَوْمِ
Day
walaqqāhum
وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ
and will cause them to meet
naḍratan
نَضْرَةً
radiance
wasurūran
وَسُرُورًا
and happiness

Transliteration:

Fa waqaahumul laahu sharra zaalikal yawmi wa laqqaahum nadratanw wa surooraa (QS. al-ʾInsān:11)

English / Sahih Translation:

So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (QS. Al-Insan, ayah 11)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

So Allah will save them from the evil of that day, and will grant them bloom and delight,

So Allah will deliver them from the horror of that Day, and grant them radiance and joy,

So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy,

So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy,

So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy.

So Allah saved them from that day’s ills and graced them with freshness [on this faces] and joy [in their hearts].

So God will surely preserve them from the evil of that Day and enable them to find radiance and joy.

So Allâh will guard them from the evil of that day and will bestow on them cheerfulness (of face) and happiness (of mind).

English Literal

So God protected/preserved them (from) that the day`s/time`s bad/evil/harm, and He made them meet/find beauty and goodness and delight/happiness.

So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy.

Hamid S. Aziz

Therefore Allah will deliver them from the evil of that day and will shed on them the Light of Beauty and Joy;

So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy.

So Allah will ward off from them the evil of that day, and cause them to meet with spendour and happiness;

Therefore Allah win guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness;

Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy;

So, Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadrah (a light of beauty) and joy.

Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy,

So God will protect them from the ills of that Day, and will grant them radiance and joy.

Tafsir jalalayn

God has therefore shielded them from the evil of that day, and has granted them radiance, fairness and resplendence in their faces, and joy.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

So, Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadrah (a light of beauty) and joy.

This is used as a way of eloquence in stating similarity (i.e., two similar things).

فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

So, Allah saved them from the evil of that Day,

meaning, He protects them from that which they fear of it.

وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَة

and gave them Nadrah (a light of beauty),

meaning, in their faces.

وَسُرُورًا

And joy (in their hearts).

Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Qatadah, Abu `Aliyah and Ar-Rabi` bin Anas all stated this.

This is similar to Allah's statement,

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَيِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ

ضَـحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ

Some faces that Day will be bright, laughing, rejoicing at good news.

This is because if the heart is happy, then the face will be enlightened. (80;38-39)

As Ka`b bin Malik said in his lengthy Hadith about Allah's Messenger,

whenever he was happy, then his face will be radiant until it will be as if it is a piece of the moon.

A'ishah said,

"The Messenger of Allah entered into my home happy and his facial expression was glowing."

And the Hadith continues.
