Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qiyamah Verse 5
Al-Qiyamah [75]: 5 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
بَلْ يُرِيْدُ الْاِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ اَمَامَهٗۚ (القيامة : ٧٥)

- Nay!
- yurīdu
- يُرِيدُ
- Desires
- l-insānu
- ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ
- [the] man
- liyafjura
- لِيَفْجُرَ
- to give (the) lie
- amāmahu
- أَمَامَهُۥ
- (to) what is before him
Transliteration:
Bal yureedul insaanu liyafjura amaamah(QS. al-Q̈iyamah:5)
English / Sahih Translation:
But man desires to continue in sin. (QS. Al-Qiyamah, ayah 5)

Tafsir jalalayn
Nay, but man desires to deny (li-yafjura; the lm is extra, and the subjunctive mood is because of an implied [preceding] an, `that') what lies ahead of him, namely, the Day of Resurrection, as is indicated by;
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Nay! Man desires to break out ahead of himself.
Sa`id reported from Ibn `Abbas that he said,
"This means to proceed forward."
Mujahid said about,
لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ
(to break out ahead of himself).
"This means that he wants to proceed ahead following his own whims."
Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn `Abbas that he said,
"This refers to the disbeliever who denies the Day of Reckoning."
Ibn Zayd said the same thing.
Thus, Allah says after this,
يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ
