عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِيْنَۙ ٤١

About the criminals, (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 41)Tafsir

مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِيْ سَقَرَ ٤٢
- mā
- مَا
- "What
- salakakum
- سَلَكَكُمْ
- led you
- fī
- فِى
- into
- saqara
- سَقَرَ
- Hell?"
[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 42)Tafsir
43
قَالُوْا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّيْنَۙ ٤٣
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They will say
- lam
- لَمْ
- "Not
- naku
- نَكُ
- we were
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-muṣalīna
- ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
- those who prayed
They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 43)Tafsir
44
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِيْنَۙ ٤٤
- walam
- وَلَمْ
- And not
- naku
- نَكُ
- we used
- nuṭ'ʿimu
- نُطْعِمُ
- (to) feed
- l-mis'kīna
- ٱلْمِسْكِينَ
- the poor
Nor did we used to feed the poor. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 44)Tafsir
45
وَكُنَّا نَخُوْضُ مَعَ الْخَاۤىِٕضِيْنَۙ ٤٥
- wakunnā
- وَكُنَّا
- And we used (to)
- nakhūḍu
- نَخُوضُ
- indulge in vain talk
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-khāiḍīna
- ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ
- the vain talkers
And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 45)Tafsir
46
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّيْنِۙ ٤٦
- wakunnā
- وَكُنَّا
- And we used (to)
- nukadhibu
- نُكَذِّبُ
- deny
- biyawmi
- بِيَوْمِ
- (the) Day
- l-dīni
- ٱلدِّينِ
- (of) the Judgment
And we used to deny the Day of Recompense (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 46)Tafsir
47
حَتّٰىٓ اَتٰىنَا الْيَقِيْنُۗ ٤٧
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰٓ
- Until
- atānā
- أَتَىٰنَا
- there came to us
- l-yaqīnu
- ٱلْيَقِينُ
- the certainty"
Until there came to us the certainty [i.e., death]." (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 47)Tafsir
48
فَمَا تَنْفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِيْنَۗ ٤٨
- famā
- فَمَا
- Then not
- tanfaʿuhum
- تَنفَعُهُمْ
- will benefit them
- shafāʿatu
- شَفَٰعَةُ
- intercession
- l-shāfiʿīna
- ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ
- (of) the intercessors
So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 48)Tafsir
49
فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ التَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِيْنَۙ ٤٩
- famā
- فَمَا
- Then what
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- (is) for them
- ʿani
- عَنِ
- (that) from
- l-tadhkirati
- ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ
- the Reminder
- muʿ'riḍīna
- مُعْرِضِينَ
- they (are) turning away
Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 49)Tafsir
50
كَاَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُّسْتَنْفِرَةٌۙ ٥٠
- ka-annahum
- كَأَنَّهُمْ
- As if they (were)
- ḥumurun
- حُمُرٌ
- donkeys
- mus'tanfiratun
- مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌ
- frightened
As if they were alarmed donkeys. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 50)Tafsir
