ثُمَّ نَظَرَۙ ٢١

ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَۙ ٢٢

- عَبَسَ
- he frowned
- wabasara
- وَبَسَرَ
- and scowled;
Then he frowned and scowled; (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 22)Tafsir
23
ثُمَّ اَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَۙ ٢٣
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- adbara
- أَدْبَرَ
- he turned back
- wa-is'takbara
- وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ
- and was proud
Then he turned back and was arrogant (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 23)Tafsir
24
فَقَالَ اِنْ هٰذَآ اِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُّؤْثَرُۙ ٢٤
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- Then he said
- in
- إِنْ
- "Not
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- (is) this
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- siḥ'run
- سِحْرٌ
- magic
- yu'tharu
- يُؤْثَرُ
- imitated
And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 24)Tafsir
25
اِنْ هٰذَآ اِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِۗ ٢٥
- in
- إِنْ
- Not
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- (is) this
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- qawlu
- قَوْلُ
- (the) word
- l-bashari
- ٱلْبَشَرِ
- (of) a human being"
This is not but the word of a human being." (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 25)Tafsir
26
سَاُصْلِيْهِ سَقَرَ ٢٦
- sa-uṣ'līhi
- سَأُصْلِيهِ
- Soon I will admit him
- saqara
- سَقَرَ
- (in) Hell
I will drive him into Saqar. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 26)Tafsir
27
وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا سَقَرُۗ ٢٧
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And what
- adrāka
- أَدْرَىٰكَ
- can make you know
- mā
- مَا
- what
- saqaru
- سَقَرُ
- (is) Hell?
And what can make you know what is Saqar? (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 27)Tafsir
28
لَا تُبْقِيْ وَلَا تَذَرُۚ ٢٨
- lā
- لَا
- Not
- tub'qī
- تُبْقِى
- it lets remain
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- tadharu
- تَذَرُ
- it leaves
It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 28)Tafsir

لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِۚ ٢٩
- lawwāḥatun
- لَوَّاحَةٌ
- Scorching
- lil'bashari
- لِّلْبَشَرِ
- the human (skin)
Altering [i.e., blackening] the skins. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 29)Tafsir
30
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَۗ ٣٠
- ʿalayhā
- عَلَيْهَا
- Over it
- tis'ʿata
- تِسْعَةَ
- (are) nine
- ʿashara
- عَشَرَ
- teen
Over it are nineteen [angels]. (QS. [74] Al-Muddaththir: 30)Tafsir
