Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Ma'arij Verse 9

Al-Ma'arij [70]: 9 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَتَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِۙ (المعارج : ٧٠)

watakūnu
وَتَكُونُ
And will be
l-jibālu
ٱلْجِبَالُ
the mountains
kal-ʿih'ni
كَٱلْعِهْنِ
like wool

Transliteration:

Wa takoonul jibaalu kal'ihn (QS. al-Maʿārij:9)

English / Sahih Translation:

And the mountains will be like wool, (QS. Al-Ma'arij, ayah 9)

and the mountains will be like dyed wool,

Tafsir jalalayn

and the mountains will be as flakes of wool, in terms of [their] lightness and [their] floating about in the wind.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And the mountains will be like `Ihn.

meaning, like fluffed wool.

This was said by Mujahid, Qatadah and As-Suddi.

This Ayah is similar to Allah's statement,

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ

And the mountains will be like carded wool. (101;5)

Concerning Allah's statement,

وَلَا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
