Al-Ma'arij [70]: 2 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

لِّلْكٰفِرِيْنَ لَيْسَ لَهٗ دَافِعٌۙ (المعارج : ٧٠)

لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ
To the disbelievers
laysa

of it
dāfiʿun
دَافِعٌ
any preventer

Transliteration:

Lilkaafireen laisa lahoo daafi' (QS. al-Maʿārij:2)

English / Sahih Translation:

To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. (QS. Al-Ma'arij, ayah 2)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

لِّلْكَافِرينَ

about to befall (Waqi`) upon the disbelievers,

means, it is waiting in preparation for the disbelievers.

Ibn `Abbas said, "Waqi` means coming."

لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ



which non can avert,

meaning, there is no one who can repel it if Allah wants it to happen. Thus, Allah says,

مِّنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ
