Al-Qur'an Surah Al-A'raf Verse 50

Al-A'raf [7]: 50 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَنَادٰٓى اَصْحٰبُ النَّارِ اَصْحٰبَ الْجَنَّةِ اَنْ اَفِيْضُوْا عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاۤءِ اَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللّٰهُ ۗقَالُوْٓا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكٰفِرِيْنَۙ (الأعراف : ٧)

wanādā
وَنَادَىٰٓ
And (will) call out
aṣḥābu
أَصْحَٰبُ
(the) companions
l-nāri
ٱلنَّارِ
(of) the Fire
aṣḥāba
أَصْحَٰبَ
(to the) companions
l-janati
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
(of) Paradise
an
أَنْ
[that]
afīḍū
أَفِيضُوا۟
"Pour
ʿalaynā
عَلَيْنَا
upon us
mina
مِنَ
[of]
l-māi
ٱلْمَآءِ
(some) water
aw
أَوْ
or
mimmā
مِمَّا
of what
razaqakumu
رَزَقَكُمُ
(has been) provided (to) you"
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُۚ
(by) Allah"
qālū
قَالُوٓا۟
They (will) say
inna
إِنَّ
"Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ḥarramahumā
حَرَّمَهُمَا
has forbidden both
ʿalā
عَلَى
to
l-kāfirīna
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers

Transliteration:

Wa naadaaa Ashaabun Naari Ashaabal jannati an afeedoo 'alainaa minal maaa'i aw mimma razaqakumul laah; qaaloo innal laaha harrama humaa 'alal kaafireen (QS. al-ʾAʿrāf:50)

English / Sahih Translation:

And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, "Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allah has provided you." They will say, "Indeed, Allah has forbidden them both to the disbelievers (QS. Al-A'raf, ayah 50)

The people of the Fire will call out to the people of Paradise, “Pour on us some water, or some of what Allah has provided you.” They will say, “Allah has prohibited these for disbelievers,

And the people of the Fire will cry out to the people of Paradise: 'Pour out some water on us or throw at us something of what Allah has bestowed upon you.' They will reply: 'Allah has forbidden them to the deniers of the truth,

Those in Hell will call to the inmates of Paradise: "Pour a little water over us, or give us a little of what God has given you." They will answer: "God has verily forbidden these to those who denied the truth.

And the people of hell will cry out to the people of Paradise, “Provide us some benefit from your water or from the food Allah has provided you”; they will say, “Indeed Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers.”

Ali Quli Qarai

The inmates of the Fire will call out to the inhabitants of paradise, ‘Pour on us some water, or something of what Allah has provided you.’ They will say, ‘Allah has indeed forbidden these two to the faithless!’

And the companions of the Fire call out to the companions of Paradise: "Pour out some water upon us, or something of what God has provided for you!" They say: "Indeed God has forbidden both to the unbelievers."

Now the fellows of the Fire will call out to the owners of Paradise, `Pour down upon us some water or (give us) some of that which Allâh has provided for you.´ They will say, `Allâh has forbidden them both to the disbelievers;

English Literal

And the fire`s company/friends called/cried (to) the Paradises` company/friends : "That spread/flow on us from the water or from what God provided for you." They said: "That God forbade/prohibited them (B) on the disbelievers."

And the people of hell will cry out to the people of Paradise, "Provide us some benefit from your water or from the food Allah has provided you"; they will say, "Indeed Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers."

But the Companions of the Fire cry out to the Companions of the Garden, "Pour out upon us water, or something of what Allah has provided you with (for sustenance, benefit or comfort)." They will say, "Allah has forbidden them both to those who rejected Him;

And the dwellers of the Fire will call to the dwellers of Paradise: "Pour on us some water or anything that Allah has provided you with." They will say: "Both (water and provision) Allah has forbidden to the disbelievers."

Are these they about whom you swore that Allah would not bestow mercy on them? Enter the Garden; you have no fear, nor shall you grieve.

And the inmates of the fire shall call out to the dwellers of the garden, saying: Pour on us some water or of that which Allah has given you. They shall say: Surely Allah has prohibited them both to the unbelievers.

The dwellers of the fire will ask the people of Paradise to give them some water or other things which God has granted to them. They will reply, "God has deprived the unbelievers of the blessings of Paradise."

The companions of the Fire will call out to the companions of Paradise: 'Pour upon us some water, or some of that which Allah has provided you' But they shall reply: 'Allah has forbidden both to the unbelievers,

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

And the dwellers of the Fire will call to the dwellers of Paradise: "Pour on us some water or anything that Allah has provided you with." They will say: "Both (water and provision) Allah has forbidden for the disbelievers.

Wahiduddin Khan

The people of the Fire shall call out to the people of heaven, "Pour out some water on us, or give us something out of that which God has bestowed upon you." But the blessed will reply, "God has forbidden all that to those who denied the truth.

Talal Itani

The inmates of the Fire will call on the inhabitants of the Garden, “Pour some water over us, or some of what God has provided for you.” They will say, “God has forbidden them for the disbelievers.”

Tafsir jalalayn

And the inhabitants of the Fire call out to the inhabitants of Paradise [saying]; `Pour on us some water, or some of that, food, which God has provided you!' They say; `God has forbidden, He has prohibited, both to the disbelievers,

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Favors of paradise are Prohibited for the People of the Fire

Allah emphasizes the disgrace of the people of the Fire. They will ask the people of Paradise for some of their drink and food, but they will not be given any of that.

He says;

وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ أَفِيضُواْ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاء أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللّهُ

And the dwellers of the Fire will call to the dwellers of Paradise;"Pour on us some water or anything that Allah has provided you with."

As-Suddi said,

"That is food".

Ath-Thawri said that Uthman Ath-Thaqafi said that Sa`id bin Jubayr commented on this Ayah,

"One of them will call his father or brother, `I have been burned, so pour some water on me.'

The believers will be asked to reply, and they will reply,

قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ



They will say;"Both Allah has forbidden to the disbelievers.""

Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam said that,
إِنَّ اللّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
("Both Allah has forbidden to the disbelievers)."

"Refers to the food and drink of Paradise."

Allah says,
