Al-Qur'an Surah Al-A'raf Verse 170

Al-A'raf [7]: 170 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ يُمَسِّكُوْنَ بِالْكِتٰبِ وَاَقَامُوا الصَّلٰوةَۗ اِنَّا لَا نُضِيْعُ اَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِيْنَ (الأعراف : ٧)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yumassikūna
يُمَسِّكُونَ
hold fast
bil-kitābi
بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ
to the Book
wa-aqāmū
وَأَقَامُوا۟
and establish
l-ṣalata
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
innā
إِنَّا
indeed We
لَا
(will) not
nuḍīʿu
نُضِيعُ
[We] let go waste
ajra
أَجْرَ
(the) reward
l-muṣ'liḥīna
ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ
(of) the reformers

Transliteration:

Wallazeena yumas sikoona bil Kitaabi wa aqaamus Salaata innaa laa nudee'uajral musliheen (QS. al-ʾAʿrāf:170)

English / Sahih Translation:

But those who hold fast to the Book [i.e., the Quran] and establish prayer – indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers. (QS. Al-A'raf, ayah 170)

Those who hold fast to the Book and establish Salāh, We shall never let the reward of (such) righteous people to go to waste.

Then after them came an evil posterity who inherited the Book, taking the trail goods of this low life and saying: It will be forgiven us. And if the like good came to them, they would take it (too). Was not a promise taken from them in the Book that they would not speak anything about Allah but the truth? And they study what is in it. And the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who keep their duty. Do you not then understand?

Tafsir jalalayn

And those who adhere (read yumassikn or yumsikn) to the Scripture, from among them, and have established prayer, the likes of `Abd Allh b. Salm and his companions, verily We shall not let the wages of reformers go to waste (inn l nud`u ajra l-muslihn; the sentence is the predicate of alladhna, `those who'; also there is here the replacing of the [third person] pronominalisation [alladhna, `those who'] with an overt noun [al-muslihna, `reformers'], in other words, their wages).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَالَّذِينَ يُمَسَّكُونَ بِالْكِتَابِ

And as to those who hold fast to the Book,

adhere to it, implement its commands and refrain from its prohibitions,

وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلَةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ



and perform the Salah, certainly We shall never waste the reward of those who do righteous deeds
