Al-Qur'an Surah Al-A'raf Verse 153
Al-A'raf [7]: 153 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَالَّذِيْنَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّاٰتِ ثُمَّ تَابُوْا مِنْۢ بَعْدِهَا وَاٰمَنُوْٓا اِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ (الأعراف : ٧)
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- And those who
- ʿamilū
- عَمِلُوا۟
- do
- l-sayiāti
- ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
- the evil deeds
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- tābū
- تَابُوا۟
- repented
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdihā
- بَعْدِهَا
- after that
- waāmanū
- وَءَامَنُوٓا۟
- and believed
- inna
- إِنَّ
- indeed
- rabbaka
- رَبَّكَ
- your Lord

- بَعْدِهَا
- after that
- laghafūrun
- لَغَفُورٌ
- (is) surely Oft-Forgiving
- raḥīmun
- رَّحِيمٌ
- Most Merciful
Transliteration:
Wallazeena 'amilus saiyiaati summa taaboo mim ba'dihaa wa aamanooo inna Rabbaka mim ba'dihaa la Ghafoorur Raheem(QS. al-ʾAʿrāf:153)
English / Sahih Translation:
But those who committed misdeeds and then repented after them and believed – indeed your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful. (QS. Al-A'raf, ayah 153)

As for those who do evil, and repent thereafter, and embrace faith, your Lord is then most forgiving, very merciful (for them).

Tafsir jalalayn
But those who commit evil deeds and repent, desist from them, thereafter and believe, in God -- indeed your Lord thereafter, that is, after repentance, is truly Forgiving, Merciful', towards them.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَالَّذِينَ عَمِلُواْ السَّيِّيَاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُواْ مِن بَعْدِهَا وَامَنُواْ
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ
But those who committed evil deeds and then repented afterwards and believed, verily, your Lord, (O Muhammad, Messenger of Repentance and Prophet of Mercy),
مِن بَعْدِهَا
after that,
after committing that evil action,
لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Ibn Abi Hatim reported that Abdullah bin Mas`ud was asked about a man committing fornication with a woman and then marrying her, and Ibn Mas`ud recited this Ayah,
وَالَّذِينَ عَمِلُواْ السَّيِّيَاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُواْ مِن بَعْدِهَا وَامَنُواْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِن بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
But those who committed evil deeds and then repented afterwards and believed, verily, your Lord after (all) that is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Abdullah recited this Ayah ten times, neither allowing nor disallowing it
