Al-Qur'an Surah Al-A'raf Verse 151

Al-A'raf [7]: 151 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَلِاَخِيْ وَاَدْخِلْنَا فِيْ رَحْمَتِكَ ۖوَاَنْتَ اَرْحَمُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ ࣖ (الأعراف : ٧)

"O my Lord!
igh'fir
ٱغْفِرْ
Forgive
لِى
me
wali-akhī
وَلِأَخِى
and my brother
wa-adkhil'nā
وَأَدْخِلْنَا
and admit us
فِى
into
raḥmatika
رَحْمَتِكَۖ
Your Mercy
wa-anta
وَأَنتَ
for You
arḥamu
أَرْحَمُ
(are) the Most Merciful
l-rāḥimīna
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
(of) the merciful"

Transliteration:

Qaala Rabbigh fir lee wa li akhee wa adkhilnaa fee rahmatika wa Anta arhamur raahimeen (QS. al-ʾAʿrāf:151)

English / Sahih Translation:

[Moses] said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful." (QS. Al-A'raf, ayah 151)

He said, “My Lord! Forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your mercy. You are the most Merciful of all the merciful.”

He said, `My Lord, forgive me, what I have done to my brother, and my brother, he includes him in the supplication in order to reconcile him and to fend off any gloating over his misfortune, and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

he (Musa) said , "O my Lord! Forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your mercy, for you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Ibn Abbas said that the Messenger of Allah said,

يَرْحَمُ اللهُ مُوسَى لَيْسَ الْمُعَايِنُ كَالْمُخْبِرِ أَخْبَرَهُ رَبُّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنَّ قَوْمَهُ فُتِنُوا بَعْدَهُ فَلَمْ يَلْقَ الاَْلْوَاحَ فَلَمَّا رَاهُمْ وَعَايَنَهُمْ أَلْقَى الاَْلْوَاح

May Allah grant His mercy to Musa! Surely, he who observes (something) is nothing like he who is informed about it. His Lord, the Exalted and Most Honored, told him that his people were tested after him, but he did not throw the Tablets. When he saw them with his eyes, then he threw the Tablets
