وَاِذْ اَنْجَيْنٰكُمْ مِّنْ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُوْمُوْنَكُمْ سُوْۤءَ الْعَذَابِۚ يُقَتِّلُوْنَ اَبْنَاۤءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُوْنَ نِسَاۤءَكُمْۗ وَفِيْ ذٰلِكُمْ بَلَاۤءٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيْمٌ ࣖ ١٤١
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- anjaynākum
- أَنجَيْنَٰكُم
- We saved you
- min
- مِّنْ
- from
- āli
- ءَالِ
- (the) people
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَ
- (of) Firaun
- yasūmūnakum
- يَسُومُونَكُمْ
- who were afflicting you
- sūa
- سُوٓءَ
- (with) worst
- l-ʿadhābi
- ٱلْعَذَابِۖ
- (of) torment
- yuqattilūna
- يُقَتِّلُونَ
- they were killing
- abnāakum
- أَبْنَآءَكُمْ
- your sons
- wayastaḥyūna
- وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ
- and letting live
- nisāakum
- نِسَآءَكُمْۚ
- your women
- wafī
- وَفِى
- And in
- dhālikum
- ذَٰلِكُم
- that
- balāon
- بَلَآءٌ
- (was) a trial
- min
- مِّن
- from
- rabbikum
- رَّبِّكُمْ
- your Lord
- ʿaẓīmun
- عَظِيمٌ
- great
And [recall, O Children of Israel], when We saved you from the people of Pharaoh, [who were] afflicting you with the worst torment – killing your sons and keeping your women alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 141)Tafsir
۞ وَوٰعَدْنَا مُوْسٰى ثَلٰثِيْنَ لَيْلَةً وَّاَتْمَمْنٰهَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ مِيْقَاتُ رَبِّهٖٓ اَرْبَعِيْنَ لَيْلَةً ۚوَقَالَ مُوْسٰى لِاَخِيْهِ هٰرُوْنَ اخْلُفْنِيْ فِيْ قَوْمِيْ وَاَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيْلَ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ ١٤٢
- wawāʿadnā
- وَوَٰعَدْنَا
- And We appointed
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- (for) Musa
- thalāthīna
- ثَلَٰثِينَ
- thirty
- laylatan
- لَيْلَةً
- nights
- wa-atmamnāhā
- وَأَتْمَمْنَٰهَا
- and We completed them
- biʿashrin
- بِعَشْرٍ
- with ten (more)
- fatamma
- فَتَمَّ
- so was completed
- mīqātu
- مِيقَٰتُ
- (the) set term
- rabbihi
- رَبِّهِۦٓ
- (of) his Lord
- arbaʿīna
- أَرْبَعِينَ
- (of) forty
- laylatan
- لَيْلَةًۚ
- night(s)
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And said
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa
- li-akhīhi
- لِأَخِيهِ
- to his brother
- hārūna
- هَٰرُونَ
- Harun
- ukh'luf'nī
- ٱخْلُفْنِى
- "Take my place
- fī
- فِى
- in
- qawmī
- قَوْمِى
- my people
- wa-aṣliḥ
- وَأَصْلِحْ
- and do right
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- tattabiʿ
- تَتَّبِعْ
- follow
- sabīla
- سَبِيلَ
- (the) way
- l-muf'sidīna
- ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
- (of) the corrupters"
And We made an appointment with Moses for thirty nights and perfected them by [the addition of] ten; so the term of his Lord was completed as forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, "Take my place among my people, do right [by them], and do not follow the way of the corrupters." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 142)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ مُوْسٰى لِمِيْقَاتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهٗ رَبُّهٗۙ قَالَ رَبِّ اَرِنِيْٓ اَنْظُرْ اِلَيْكَۗ قَالَ لَنْ تَرٰىنِيْ وَلٰكِنِ انْظُرْ اِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَاِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهٗ فَسَوْفَ تَرٰىنِيْۚ فَلَمَّا تَجَلّٰى رَبُّهٗ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهٗ دَكًّا وَّخَرَّ مُوْسٰى صَعِقًاۚ فَلَمَّآ اَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحٰنَكَ تُبْتُ اِلَيْكَ وَاَنَا۠ اَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ١٤٣
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- jāa
- جَآءَ
- came
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa
- limīqātinā
- لِمِيقَٰتِنَا
- to Our appointed place
- wakallamahu
- وَكَلَّمَهُۥ
- and spoke to him
- rabbuhu
- رَبُّهُۥ
- his Lord
- qāla
- قَالَ
- he said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "O my Lord!
- arinī
- أَرِنِىٓ
- Show me
- anẓur
- أَنظُرْ
- (that) I may look
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَۚ
- at You"
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- lan
- لَن
- "Never
- tarānī
- تَرَىٰنِى
- you (can) see Me
- walākini
- وَلَٰكِنِ
- but
- unẓur
- ٱنظُرْ
- look
- ilā
- إِلَى
- at
- l-jabali
- ٱلْجَبَلِ
- the mountain
- fa-ini
- فَإِنِ
- [then] if
- is'taqarra
- ٱسْتَقَرَّ
- it remains
- makānahu
- مَكَانَهُۥ
- in its place
- fasawfa
- فَسَوْفَ
- then"
- tarānī
- تَرَىٰنِىۚ
- you (will) see Me"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- But when
- tajallā
- تَجَلَّىٰ
- revealed (His) Glory
- rabbuhu
- رَبُّهُۥ
- his Lord
- lil'jabali
- لِلْجَبَلِ
- to the mountain
- jaʿalahu
- جَعَلَهُۥ
- He made it
- dakkan
- دَكًّا
- crumbled to dust
- wakharra
- وَخَرَّ
- and fell down
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa
- ṣaʿiqan
- صَعِقًاۚ
- unconscious
- falammā
- فَلَمَّآ
- And when
- afāqa
- أَفَاقَ
- he recovered
- qāla
- قَالَ
- he said
- sub'ḥānaka
- سُبْحَٰنَكَ
- "Glory be to You!
- tub'tu
- تُبْتُ
- I turn (in repentance)
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- wa-anā
- وَأَنَا۠
- and I am
- awwalu
- أَوَّلُ
- (the) first
- l-mu'minīna
- ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- (of) the believers"
And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, "My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You." [Allah] said, "You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me." But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, "Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first [among my people] of the believers." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 143)Tafsir
قَالَ يٰمُوْسٰٓى اِنِّى اصْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسٰلٰتِيْ وَبِكَلَامِيْ ۖفَخُذْ مَآ اٰتَيْتُكَ وَكُنْ مِّنَ الشّٰكِرِيْنَ ١٤٤
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
- "O Musa!
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed I
- iṣ'ṭafaytuka
- ٱصْطَفَيْتُكَ
- have chosen you
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- over
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- the people
- birisālātī
- بِرِسَٰلَٰتِى
- with My Messages
- wabikalāmī
- وَبِكَلَٰمِى
- and with My words
- fakhudh
- فَخُذْ
- So take
- mā
- مَآ
- what
- ātaytuka
- ءَاتَيْتُكَ
- I have given you
- wakun
- وَكُن
- and be
- mina
- مِّنَ
- among
- l-shākirīna
- ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ
- the grateful"
[Allah] said, "O Moses, I have chosen you over the people with My messages and My words [to you]. So take what I have given you and be among the grateful." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 144)Tafsir
وَكَتَبْنَا لَهٗ فِى الْاَلْوَاحِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَّوْعِظَةً وَّتَفْصِيْلًا لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍۚ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَّأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوْا بِاَحْسَنِهَا ۗسَاُورِيْكُمْ دَارَ الْفٰسِقِيْنَ ١٤٥
- wakatabnā
- وَكَتَبْنَا
- And We ordained (laws)
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-alwāḥi
- ٱلْأَلْوَاحِ
- the tablets -
- min
- مِن
- of
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- mawʿiẓatan
- مَّوْعِظَةً
- an instruction
- watafṣīlan
- وَتَفْصِيلًا
- and explanation
- likulli
- لِّكُلِّ
- for every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- fakhudh'hā
- فَخُذْهَا
- "So take them
- biquwwatin
- بِقُوَّةٍ
- with firmness
- wamur
- وَأْمُرْ
- and order
- qawmaka
- قَوْمَكَ
- your people
- yakhudhū
- يَأْخُذُوا۟
- [to] take
- bi-aḥsanihā
- بِأَحْسَنِهَاۚ
- (the) best of it
- sa-urīkum
- سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ
- I will show you
- dāra
- دَارَ
- (the) home
- l-fāsiqīna
- ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ
- (of) the defiantly disobedient"
And We wrote for him on the tablets [something] of all things – instruction and explanation for all things, [saying], "Take them with determination and order your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the defiantly disobedient." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 145)Tafsir
سَاَصْرِفُ عَنْ اٰيٰتِيَ الَّذِيْنَ يَتَكَبَّرُوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّۗ وَاِنْ يَّرَوْا كُلَّ اٰيَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوْا بِهَاۚ وَاِنْ يَّرَوْا سَبِيْلَ الرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوْهُ سَبِيْلًاۚ وَاِنْ يَّرَوْا سَبِيْلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوْهُ سَبِيْلًاۗ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَكَانُوْا عَنْهَا غٰفِلِيْنَ ١٤٦
- sa-aṣrifu
- سَأَصْرِفُ
- I will turn away
- ʿan
- عَنْ
- from
- āyātiya
- ءَايَٰتِىَ
- My Signs
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- yatakabbarūna
- يَتَكَبَّرُونَ
- are arrogant
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- bighayri
- بِغَيْرِ
- without
- l-ḥaqi
- ٱلْحَقِّ
- [the] right
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- and if
- yaraw
- يَرَوْا۟
- they see
- kulla
- كُلَّ
- every
- āyatin
- ءَايَةٍ
- sign
- lā
- لَّا
- not
- yu'minū
- يُؤْمِنُوا۟
- (will) they believe
- bihā
- بِهَا
- in it
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- And if
- yaraw
- يَرَوْا۟
- they see
- sabīla
- سَبِيلَ
- (the) way
- l-rush'di
- ٱلرُّشْدِ
- (of) the righteousness
- lā
- لَا
- not
- yattakhidhūhu
- يَتَّخِذُوهُ
- (will) they take it
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًا
- (as) a way
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- but if
- yaraw
- يَرَوْا۟
- they see
- sabīla
- سَبِيلَ
- (the) way
- l-ghayi
- ٱلْغَىِّ
- (of) [the] error
- yattakhidhūhu
- يَتَّخِذُوهُ
- they will take it
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًاۚ
- (as) a way
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- bi-annahum
- بِأَنَّهُمْ
- (is) because they
- kadhabū
- كَذَّبُوا۟
- denied
- biāyātinā
- بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
- Our Signs
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- and they were
- ʿanhā
- عَنْهَا
- of them
- ghāfilīna
- غَٰفِلِينَ
- heedless
I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of consciousness, they will not adopt it as a way; but if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they have denied Our signs and they were heedless of them. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 146)Tafsir
وَالَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَلِقَاۤءِ الْاٰخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ اَعْمَالُهُمْۗ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ࣖ ١٤٧
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- And those who
- kadhabū
- كَذَّبُوا۟
- denied
- biāyātinā
- بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
- Our Signs
- waliqāi
- وَلِقَآءِ
- and (the) meeting
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- (of) the Hereafter -
- ḥabiṭat
- حَبِطَتْ
- worthless
- aʿmāluhum
- أَعْمَٰلُهُمْۚ
- (are) their deeds
- hal
- هَلْ
- Will
- yuj'zawna
- يُجْزَوْنَ
- they be recompensed
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- mā
- مَا
- (for) what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- do?
Those who denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter – their deeds have become worthless. Are they recompensed except for what they used to do? (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 147)Tafsir
وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوْسٰى مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَّهٗ خُوَارٌۗ اَلَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّهٗ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلَا يَهْدِيْهِمْ سَبِيْلًاۘ اِتَّخَذُوْهُ وَكَانُوْا ظٰلِمِيْنَ ١٤٨
- wa-ittakhadha
- وَٱتَّخَذَ
- And took
- qawmu
- قَوْمُ
- (the) people
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- (of) Musa
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdihi
- بَعْدِهِۦ
- after him
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ḥuliyyihim
- حُلِيِّهِمْ
- their ornaments
- ʿij'lan
- عِجْلًا
- a calf
- jasadan
- جَسَدًا
- an image
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- [for] it
- khuwārun
- خُوَارٌۚ
- (had) a lowing sound
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- Did not
- yaraw
- يَرَوْا۟
- they see
- annahu
- أَنَّهُۥ
- that it
- lā
- لَا
- (could) not
- yukallimuhum
- يُكَلِّمُهُمْ
- speak to them
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yahdīhim
- يَهْدِيهِمْ
- guide them
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًاۘ
- (to) a way?
- ittakhadhūhu
- ٱتَّخَذُوهُ
- They took it (for worship)
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- and they were
- ẓālimīna
- ظَٰلِمِينَ
- wrongdoers
And the people of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf – an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it [for worship], and they were wrongdoers. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 148)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِيْٓ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَرَاَوْا اَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوْاۙ قَالُوْا لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِيْنَ ١٤٩
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- suqiṭa
- سُقِطَ
- (it was made to) fall
- fī
- فِىٓ
- into
- aydīhim
- أَيْدِيهِمْ
- their hands
- wara-aw
- وَرَأَوْا۟
- and they saw
- annahum
- أَنَّهُمْ
- that they
- qad
- قَدْ
- (had) indeed
- ḍallū
- ضَلُّوا۟
- gone astray
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- la-in
- لَئِن
- "If
- lam
- لَّمْ
- not
- yarḥamnā
- يَرْحَمْنَا
- has Mercy on us
- rabbunā
- رَبُّنَا
- Our Lord
- wayaghfir
- وَيَغْفِرْ
- and forgive
- lanā
- لَنَا
- [for] us
- lanakūnanna
- لَنَكُونَنَّ
- we will surely be
- mina
- مِنَ
- among
- l-khāsirīna
- ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
- the losers"
And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 149)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوْسٰٓى اِلٰى قَوْمِهٖ غَضْبَانَ اَسِفًاۙ قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُوْنِيْ مِنْۢ بَعْدِيْۚ اَعَجِلْتُمْ اَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْۚ وَاَلْقَى الْاَلْوَاحَ وَاَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ اَخِيْهِ يَجُرُّهٗٓ اِلَيْهِ ۗقَالَ ابْنَ اُمَّ اِنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَضْعَفُوْنِيْ وَكَادُوْا يَقْتُلُوْنَنِيْۖ فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الْاَعْدَاۤءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِيْ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ ١٥٠
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- rajaʿa
- رَجَعَ
- returned
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰٓ
- Musa
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- qawmihi
- قَوْمِهِۦ
- his people
- ghaḍbāna
- غَضْبَٰنَ
- angry
- asifan
- أَسِفًا
- and grieved
- qāla
- قَالَ
- he said
- bi'samā
- بِئْسَمَا
- "Evil is what
- khalaftumūnī
- خَلَفْتُمُونِى
- you have done in my place
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdī
- بَعْدِىٓۖ
- after me
- aʿajil'tum
- أَعَجِلْتُمْ
- Were you impatient
- amra
- أَمْرَ
- (over the) matter
- rabbikum
- رَبِّكُمْۖ
- (of) your Lord?"
- wa-alqā
- وَأَلْقَى
- And he cast down
- l-alwāḥa
- ٱلْأَلْوَاحَ
- the tablets
- wa-akhadha
- وَأَخَذَ
- and seized
- birasi
- بِرَأْسِ
- by head
- akhīhi
- أَخِيهِ
- his brother
- yajurruhu
- يَجُرُّهُۥٓ
- dragging him
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِۚ
- to himself
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- ib'na
- ٱبْنَ
- "O son
- umma
- أُمَّ
- (of) my mother!
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- is'taḍʿafūnī
- ٱسْتَضْعَفُونِى
- considered me weak
- wakādū
- وَكَادُوا۟
- and were about (to)
- yaqtulūnanī
- يَقْتُلُونَنِى
- kill me
- falā
- فَلَا
- So (let) not
- tush'mit
- تُشْمِتْ
- rejoice
- biya
- بِىَ
- over me
- l-aʿdāa
- ٱلْأَعْدَآءَ
- the enemies
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- tajʿalnī
- تَجْعَلْنِى
- place me
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- l-qawmi
- ٱلْقَوْمِ
- the people"
- l-ẓālimīna
- ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
- (who are) wrongdoing"
And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, "How wretched is that by which you have replaced me after [my departure]. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?" And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, indeed the people overpowered me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 150)Tafsir
