فَاِذَا جَاۤءَتْهُمُ الْحَسَنَةُ قَالُوْا لَنَا هٰذِهٖ ۚوَاِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَّطَّيَّرُوْا بِمُوْسٰى وَمَنْ مَّعَهٗۗ اَلَآ اِنَّمَا طٰۤىِٕرُهُمْ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ١٣١
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَا
- But when
- jāathumu
- جَآءَتْهُمُ
- came to them
- l-ḥasanatu
- ٱلْحَسَنَةُ
- the good
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- lanā
- لَنَا
- "For us"
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِۦۖ
- "(is) this"
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- And if
- tuṣib'hum
- تُصِبْهُمْ
- afflicts them
- sayyi-atun
- سَيِّئَةٌ
- bad
- yaṭṭayyarū
- يَطَّيَّرُوا۟
- they ascribe evil omens
- bimūsā
- بِمُوسَىٰ
- to Musa
- waman
- وَمَن
- and who
- maʿahu
- مَّعَهُۥٓۗ
- (were) with him
- alā
- أَلَآ
- Behold!
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- ṭāiruhum
- طَٰٓئِرُهُمْ
- their evil omens
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- (are) with
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- but
- aktharahum
- أَكْثَرَهُمْ
- most of them
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
But when good [i.e., provision] came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]." And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him. Unquestionably, their fortune is with Allah, but most of them do not know. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 131)Tafsir
وَقَالُوْا مَهْمَا تَأْتِنَا بِهٖ مِنْ اٰيَةٍ لِّتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَاۙ فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ١٣٢
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they said
- mahmā
- مَهْمَا
- "Whatever
- tatinā
- تَأْتِنَا
- you bring us
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- therewith
- min
- مِنْ
- of
- āyatin
- ءَايَةٍ
- (the) sign
- litasḥaranā
- لِّتَسْحَرَنَا
- so that you bewitch us
- bihā
- بِهَا
- with it
- famā
- فَمَا
- then not
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- we
- laka
- لَكَ
- (will be) in you
- bimu'minīna
- بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
- believers"
And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 132)Tafsir
فَاَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوْفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ اٰيٰتٍ مُّفَصَّلٰتٍۗ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوْا وَكَانُوْا قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِيْنَ ١٣٣
- fa-arsalnā
- فَأَرْسَلْنَا
- So We sent
- ʿalayhimu
- عَلَيْهِمُ
- on them
- l-ṭūfāna
- ٱلطُّوفَانَ
- the flood
- wal-jarāda
- وَٱلْجَرَادَ
- and the locusts
- wal-qumala
- وَٱلْقُمَّلَ
- and the lice
- wal-ḍafādiʿa
- وَٱلضَّفَادِعَ
- and the frogs
- wal-dama
- وَٱلدَّمَ
- and the blood
- āyātin
- ءَايَٰتٍ
- (as) signs
- mufaṣṣalātin
- مُّفَصَّلَٰتٍ
- manifest
- fa-is'takbarū
- فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
- but they showed arrogance
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- and they were
- qawman
- قَوْمًا
- a people
- muj'rimīna
- مُّجْرِمِينَ
- criminal
So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 133)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّجْزُ قَالُوْا يٰمُوْسَى ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْدَكَۚ لَىِٕنْ كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا الرِّجْزَ لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ ۚ ١٣٤
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- waqaʿa
- وَقَعَ
- fell
- ʿalayhimu
- عَلَيْهِمُ
- on them
- l-rij'zu
- ٱلرِّجْزُ
- the punishment
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَى
- "O Musa!
- ud'ʿu
- ٱدْعُ
- Invoke
- lanā
- لَنَا
- for us
- rabbaka
- رَبَّكَ
- your Lord
- bimā
- بِمَا
- by what
- ʿahida
- عَهِدَ
- He has promised
- ʿindaka
- عِندَكَۖ
- to you
- la-in
- لَئِن
- If
- kashafta
- كَشَفْتَ
- you remove
- ʿannā
- عَنَّا
- from us
- l-rij'za
- ٱلرِّجْزَ
- the punishment
- lanu'minanna
- لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ
- surely we will believe
- laka
- لَكَ
- [for] you
- walanur'silanna
- وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ
- and surely we will send
- maʿaka
- مَعَكَ
- with you
- banī
- بَنِىٓ
- (the) Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel"
And when the punishment descended upon them, they said, "O Moses, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. If you [can] remove the punishment from us, we will surely believe you, and we will send with you the Children of Israel." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 134)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْزَ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ هُمْ بَالِغُوْهُ اِذَا هُمْ يَنْكُثُوْنَ ١٣٥
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- But when
- kashafnā
- كَشَفْنَا
- We removed
- ʿanhumu
- عَنْهُمُ
- from them
- l-rij'za
- ٱلرِّجْزَ
- the punishment
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- till
- ajalin
- أَجَلٍ
- a (fixed) term
- hum
- هُم
- (which) they
- bālighūhu
- بَٰلِغُوهُ
- were to reach [it]
- idhā
- إِذَا
- then
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yankuthūna
- يَنكُثُونَ
- broke (the word)
But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 135)Tafsir
فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَاَغْرَقْنٰهُمْ فِى الْيَمِّ بِاَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَكَانُوْا عَنْهَا غٰفِلِيْنَ ١٣٦
- fa-intaqamnā
- فَٱنتَقَمْنَا
- So We took retribution
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْ
- from them
- fa-aghraqnāhum
- فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ
- and We drowned them
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-yami
- ٱلْيَمِّ
- the sea
- bi-annahum
- بِأَنَّهُمْ
- because they
- kadhabū
- كَذَّبُوا۟
- denied
- biāyātinā
- بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
- Our Signs
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- and they were
- ʿanhā
- عَنْهَا
- to them
- ghāfilīna
- غَٰفِلِينَ
- heedless
So We took retribution from them, and We drowned them in the sea because they denied Our signs and were heedless of them. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 136)Tafsir
وَاَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِيْنَ كَانُوْا يُسْتَضْعَفُوْنَ مَشَارِقَ الْاَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا الَّتِيْ بٰرَكْنَا فِيْهَاۗ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنٰى عَلٰى بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَۙ بِمَا صَبَرُوْاۗ وَدَمَّرْنَا مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ فِرْعَوْنُ وَقَوْمُهٗ وَمَا كَانُوْا يَعْرِشُوْنَ ١٣٧
- wa-awrathnā
- وَأَوْرَثْنَا
- And We made inheritors
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- were
- yus'taḍʿafūna
- يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ
- considered weak -
- mashāriqa
- مَشَٰرِقَ
- (the) eastern (parts)
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- (of) the land
- wamaghāribahā
- وَمَغَٰرِبَهَا
- and the western (parts) of it
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِى
- which
- bāraknā
- بَٰرَكْنَا
- We blessed
- fīhā
- فِيهَاۖ
- [in it]
- watammat
- وَتَمَّتْ
- And was fulfilled
- kalimatu
- كَلِمَتُ
- (the) word
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord -
- l-ḥus'nā
- ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
- the best
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- for
- banī
- بَنِىٓ
- (the) Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel
- bimā
- بِمَا
- because
- ṣabarū
- صَبَرُوا۟ۖ
- they were patient
- wadammarnā
- وَدَمَّرْنَا
- And We destroyed
- mā
- مَا
- what
- kāna
- كَانَ
- used to
- yaṣnaʿu
- يَصْنَعُ
- make
- fir'ʿawnu
- فِرْعَوْنُ
- Firaun
- waqawmuhu
- وَقَوْمُهُۥ
- and his people
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaʿrishūna
- يَعْرِشُونَ
- erect
And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word [i.e., decree] of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 137)Tafsir
وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ الْبَحْرَ فَاَتَوْا عَلٰى قَوْمٍ يَّعْكُفُوْنَ عَلٰٓى اَصْنَامٍ لَّهُمْ ۚقَالُوْا يٰمُوْسَى اجْعَلْ لَّنَآ اِلٰهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ اٰلِهَةٌ ۗقَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُوْنَ ١٣٨
- wajāwaznā
- وَجَٰوَزْنَا
- And We led across
- bibanī
- بِبَنِىٓ
- (the) Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel
- l-baḥra
- ٱلْبَحْرَ
- the sea
- fa-ataw
- فَأَتَوْا۟
- Then they came
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- upon
- qawmin
- قَوْمٍ
- a people
- yaʿkufūna
- يَعْكُفُونَ
- devoted
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- to
- aṣnāmin
- أَصْنَامٍ
- idols
- lahum
- لَّهُمْۚ
- of theirs
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَى
- "O Musa!
- ij'ʿal
- ٱجْعَل
- Make
- lanā
- لَّنَآ
- for us
- ilāhan
- إِلَٰهًا
- a god
- kamā
- كَمَا
- like what
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- they have
- ālihatun
- ءَالِهَةٌۚ
- gods
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- innakum
- إِنَّكُمْ
- "Indeed, you
- qawmun
- قَوْمٌ
- (are) a people
- tajhalūna
- تَجْهَلُونَ
- ignorant
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a people intent in devotion to [some] idols of theirs. They [the Children of Israel] said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a people behaving ignorantly. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 138)Tafsir
اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ مُتَبَّرٌ مَّا هُمْ فِيْهِ وَبٰطِلٌ مَّا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ١٣٩
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- hāulāi
- هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
- these
- mutabbarun
- مُتَبَّرٌ
- destroyed
- mā
- مَّا
- (is) what
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- (are) in it
- wabāṭilun
- وَبَٰطِلٌ
- and vain
- mā
- مَّا
- (is) what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- do"
Indeed, those [worshippers] – destroyed is that in which they are [engaged], and worthless is whatever they were doing." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 139)Tafsir
قَالَ اَغَيْرَ اللّٰهِ اَبْغِيْكُمْ اِلٰهًا وَّهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ١٤٠
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- aghayra
- أَغَيْرَ
- "Should other than
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- abghīkum
- أَبْغِيكُمْ
- I seek for you
- ilāhan
- إِلَٰهًا
- a god
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- while He
- faḍḍalakum
- فَضَّلَكُمْ
- has preferred you
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- over
- l-ʿālamīna
- ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
- the worlds?"
He said, "Is it other than Allah I should desire for you as a god while He has preferred you over the worlds?" (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 140)Tafsir
