قَالُوْآ اَرْجِهْ وَاَخَاهُ وَاَرْسِلْ فِى الْمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حٰشِرِيْنَۙ ١١١
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- They said
- arjih
- أَرْجِهْ
- "Postpone him
- wa-akhāhu
- وَأَخَاهُ
- and his brother
- wa-arsil
- وَأَرْسِلْ
- and send
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-madāini
- ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ
- the cities
- ḥāshirīna
- حَٰشِرِينَ
- gatherers
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 111)Tafsir
112
يَأْتُوْكَ بِكُلِّ سٰحِرٍ عَلِيْمٍ ١١٢
- yatūka
- يَأْتُوكَ
- They (will) bring to you
- bikulli
- بِكُلِّ
- [with] every
- sāḥirin
- سَٰحِرٍ
- magician"
- ʿalīmin
- عَلِيمٍ
- learned"
Who will bring you every learned magician." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 112)Tafsir
113
وَجَاۤءَ السَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّ لَنَا لَاَجْرًا اِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغٰلِبِيْنَ ١١٣
- wajāa
- وَجَآءَ
- So came
- l-saḥaratu
- ٱلسَّحَرَةُ
- the magicians
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَ
- (to) Firaun
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- They said
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- lanā
- لَنَا
- for us
- la-ajran
- لَأَجْرًا
- surely (will be) a reward
- in
- إِن
- if
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- we are
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- [we]
- l-ghālibīna
- ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ
- the victors"
And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 113)Tafsir
114
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَاِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ ١١٤
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- naʿam
- نَعَمْ
- "Yes
- wa-innakum
- وَإِنَّكُمْ
- and indeed you
- lamina
- لَمِنَ
- surely (will be) of
- l-muqarabīna
- ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
- the ones who are near"
He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 114)Tafsir
115
قَالُوْا يٰمُوْسٰٓى اِمَّآ اَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَاِمَّآ اَنْ نَّكُوْنَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِيْنَ ١١٥
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
- "O Musa!
- immā
- إِمَّآ
- Whether
- an
- أَن
- [that]
- tul'qiya
- تُلْقِىَ
- you throw
- wa-immā
- وَإِمَّآ
- or
- an
- أَن
- [that]
- nakūna
- نَّكُونَ
- we will be
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- [we]
- l-mul'qīna
- ٱلْمُلْقِينَ
- the ones to throw?"
They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 115)Tafsir
116
قَالَ اَلْقُوْاۚ فَلَمَّآ اَلْقَوْا سَحَرُوْٓا اَعْيُنَ النَّاسِ وَاسْتَرْهَبُوْهُمْ وَجَاۤءُوْ بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيْمٍ ١١٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- alqū
- أَلْقُوا۟ۖ
- "Throw"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّآ
- Then when
- alqaw
- أَلْقَوْا۟
- they threw
- saḥarū
- سَحَرُوٓا۟
- they bewitched
- aʿyuna
- أَعْيُنَ
- (the) eyes
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- (of) the people
- wa-is'tarhabūhum
- وَٱسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْ
- and terrified them
- wajāū
- وَجَآءُو
- and came (up)
- bisiḥ'rin
- بِسِحْرٍ
- with a magic
- ʿaẓīmin
- عَظِيمٍ
- great
He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 116)Tafsir
117
۞ وَاَوْحَيْنَآ اِلٰى مُوْسٰٓى اَنْ اَلْقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَاِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُوْنَۚ ١١٧
- wa-awḥaynā
- وَأَوْحَيْنَآ
- And We inspired
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰٓ
- Musa
- an
- أَنْ
- that
- alqi
- أَلْقِ
- "Throw
- ʿaṣāka
- عَصَاكَۖ
- your staff"
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَا
- and suddenly
- hiya
- هِىَ
- it
- talqafu
- تَلْقَفُ
- swallow(ed)
- mā
- مَا
- what
- yafikūna
- يَأْفِكُونَ
- they (were) falsifying
And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 117)Tafsir
118
فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَۚ ١١٨
- fawaqaʿa
- فَوَقَعَ
- So was established
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- the truth
- wabaṭala
- وَبَطَلَ
- and became futile
- mā
- مَا
- what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used to
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- do
So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 118)Tafsir
119
فَغُلِبُوْا هُنَالِكَ وَانْقَلَبُوْا صٰغِرِيْنَۚ ١١٩
- faghulibū
- فَغُلِبُوا۟
- So they were defeated
- hunālika
- هُنَالِكَ
- there
- wa-inqalabū
- وَٱنقَلَبُوا۟
- and returned
- ṣāghirīna
- صَٰغِرِينَ
- humiliated
And they [i.e., Pharaoh and his people] were overcome right there and became debased. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 119)Tafsir
120
وَاُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سٰجِدِيْنَۙ ١٢٠
- wa-ul'qiya
- وَأُلْقِىَ
- And fell down
- l-saḥaratu
- ٱلسَّحَرَةُ
- the magicians
- sājidīna
- سَٰجِدِينَ
- prostrate
And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. (QS. [7] Al-A'raf: 120)Tafsir
