Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Haqqah Verse 9
Al-Haqqah [69]: 9 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَجَاۤءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَنْ قَبْلَهٗ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكٰتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِۚ (الحاقة : ٦٩)
- wajāa
- وَجَآءَ
- And came
- fir'ʿawnu
- فِرْعَوْنُ
- Firaun
- waman
- وَمَن
- and (those)
- qablahu
- قَبْلَهُۥ
- before him
- wal-mu'tafikātu
- وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ
- and the overturned cities
- bil-khāṭi-ati
- بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
- with sin
Transliteration:
Wa jaaa'a Firawnu wa man qablahoo wal mu'tafikaatu bilhaati'ah(QS. al-Ḥāq̈q̈ah:9)
English / Sahih Translation:
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (QS. Al-Haqqah, ayah 9)

Tafsir jalalayn
And Pharaoh and those of his followers (man qibalahu; a variant reading has man qablahu, that is to say, those disbelieving communities who came before him) and the Deviant [cities], that is, their inhabitants -- these being the cities of the people of Lot -- brought iniquity, [they committed] deeds that were iniquitous.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَجَاء فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُ
And Fir`awn and those before him committed (sin).
This has been recited with a Kasrah under the letter Qaf (in the word Qabalahu, as Qiblahu, which changes the meaning to those who were with him in his time, and they were his followers who were disbelieving Coptic people.
Others recited it with a Fathah over the letter Qaf (as the word Qablahu), which means those nations before him who were similar to him.
Concerning Allah's statement,
وَالْمُوْتَفِكَاتُ
the overthrown cities,
those nations that rejected their Messengers.
بِالْخَاطِيَةِ
committed Al-Khati'ah.
Al-Khati'ah means their rejection of what Allah revealed.
Ar-Rabi` said,
بِالْخَاطِيَةِ
(committed Al-Khati'ah).
"This means disobedience."
Mujahid said, "They committed errors."
Thus, Allah says
