The Inevitable Reality – (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 1)Tafsir

مَا الْحَاۤقَّةُ ۚ ٢
- mā
- مَا
- What
- l-ḥāqatu
- ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
- (is) the Inevitable Reality?
What is the Inevitable Reality? (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 2)Tafsir
3
وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحَاۤقَّةُ ۗ ٣
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And what
- adrāka
- أَدْرَىٰكَ
- will make you know
- mā
- مَا
- what
- l-ḥāqatu
- ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
- (is) the Inevitable Reality?
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 3)Tafsir
4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ وَعَادٌ ۢبِالْقَارِعَةِ ٤
- kadhabat
- كَذَّبَتْ
- Denied
- thamūdu
- ثَمُودُ
- Thamud
- waʿādun
- وَعَادٌۢ
- and Aad
- bil-qāriʿati
- بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
- the Striking Calamity
Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection]. (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 4)Tafsir
5
فَاَمَّا ثَمُوْدُ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ ٥
- fa-ammā
- فَأَمَّا
- So as for
- thamūdu
- ثَمُودُ
- Thamud
- fa-uh'likū
- فَأُهْلِكُوا۟
- they were destroyed
- bil-ṭāghiyati
- بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
- by the overpowering (blast)
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 5)Tafsir
6
وَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِرِيْحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۙ ٦
- wa-ammā
- وَأَمَّا
- And as for
- ʿādun
- عَادٌ
- Aad
- fa-uh'likū
- فَأُهْلِكُوا۟
- they were destroyed
- birīḥin
- بِرِيحٍ
- by a wind
- ṣarṣarin
- صَرْصَرٍ
- screaming
- ʿātiyatin
- عَاتِيَةٍ
- violent
And as for Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 6)Tafsir
7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَّثَمٰنِيَةَ اَيَّامٍۙ حُسُوْمًا فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيْهَا صَرْعٰىۙ كَاَنَّهُمْ اَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۚ ٧
- sakharahā
- سَخَّرَهَا
- Which He imposed
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- upon them
- sabʿa
- سَبْعَ
- (for) seven
- layālin
- لَيَالٍ
- nights
- wathamāniyata
- وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ
- and eight
- ayyāmin
- أَيَّامٍ
- days
- ḥusūman
- حُسُومًا
- (in) succession
- fatarā
- فَتَرَى
- so you would see
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- therein
- ṣarʿā
- صَرْعَىٰ
- fallen
- ka-annahum
- كَأَنَّهُمْ
- as if they were
- aʿjāzu
- أَعْجَازُ
- trunks
- nakhlin
- نَخْلٍ
- (of) date-palms
- khāwiyatin
- خَاوِيَةٍ
- hollow
Which He [i.e., Allah] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 7)Tafsir

فَهَلْ تَرٰى لَهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَاقِيَةٍ ٨
- fahal
- فَهَلْ
- Then do
- tarā
- تَرَىٰ
- you see
- lahum
- لَهُم
- of them
- min
- مِّنۢ
- any
- bāqiyatin
- بَاقِيَةٍ
- remains?
Then do you see of them any remains? (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 8)Tafsir
9
وَجَاۤءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَنْ قَبْلَهٗ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكٰتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِۚ ٩
- wajāa
- وَجَآءَ
- And came
- fir'ʿawnu
- فِرْعَوْنُ
- Firaun
- waman
- وَمَن
- and (those)
- qablahu
- قَبْلَهُۥ
- before him
- wal-mu'tafikātu
- وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ
- and the overturned cities
- bil-khāṭi-ati
- بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
- with sin
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 9)Tafsir
10
فَعَصَوْا رَسُوْلَ رَبِّهِمْ فَاَخَذَهُمْ اَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً ١٠
- faʿaṣaw
- فَعَصَوْا۟
- And they disobeyed
- rasūla
- رَسُولَ
- (the) Messenger
- rabbihim
- رَبِّهِمْ
- (of) their Lord
- fa-akhadhahum
- فَأَخَذَهُمْ
- so He seized them
- akhdhatan
- أَخْذَةً
- (with) a seizure
- rābiyatan
- رَّابِيَةً
- exceeding
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (QS. [69] Al-Haqqah: 10)Tafsir
