Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qalam Verse 31

Al-Qalam [68]: 31 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قَالُوْا يٰوَيْلَنَآ اِنَّا كُنَّا طٰغِيْنَ (القلم : ٦٨)

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
yāwaylanā
يَٰوَيْلَنَآ
"O woe to us!
innā
إِنَّا
Indeed we
kunnā
كُنَّا
[we] were
ṭāghīna
طَٰغِينَ
transgressors

Transliteration:

Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa taagheen (QS. al-Q̈alam:31)

English / Sahih Translation:

They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors. (QS. Al-Qalam, ayah 31)

(and at last,) they said, “Woe to us! In fact, we (all) were outrageous.

They said: "Oh, our calamity , we (E), we were tyrannizing/arrogant ."

They said, “Woe to us - we were indeed rebellious.”

Tafsir jalalayn

They said, `O ([y is] for calling attention to something) woe to us!, [O] destruction of ours. We have indeed been unjust.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

They said;"Woe to us! Verily, we were Taghin."

meaning, `we have transgressed, trespassed, violated and exceeded the bounds until what this happened to us.'

عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ
